This course calendar contains a wealth of information to help you make appropriate choices regarding your academic career. Some of the course calendar information is available here in this brochure and some is on the school website (http://femadill.com). Please read it carefully and consider all of the options and opportunities that are available. I encourage you to discuss your choices with your parents, your teachers, and a guidance counsellor before making final decisions.

femadill.com Please remember to choose your intended program with an eye on your expected destination. The large variety of courses offered at F. E. Madill will provide you with the academic foundation for any of the four possible pathways you choose when you leave secondary school: apprenticeship, university, college and work. The courses you select must fulfill the requirements needed for entry into your chosen pathway. Even if you are entering grade 9 or 10, your possible destination should be considered when choosing courses. You will choose from locally developed, open, applied, or academic courses. Students planning to take university preparation courses in grades 11 and 12 should take academic courses in grades 9 and 10. Students hoping to take college preparation courses in grades 11 and 12 can take either academic or applied courses in grades 9 and 10, but it is a good idea to look ahead at the prerequisites and recommendations. I also encourage you to consider the skilled trades as your career destination. There are many trades and apprenticeships that can begin while you are still in high school, through OYAP. Please consult your guidance counsellor or a coop teacher for more information on the apprenticeships that are available and the entry requirements. There are other important factors to think about as well. You should consider your past achievement in school, the mix of courses which you feel will bring success (both compulsory and optional) and your own interests. Explore the variety of choices and you will find courses that will be interesting and enjoyable, as well as challenging. There are many considerations involved in selecting courses for next year. Take your time, think about the many factors involved, and consult those who know you best as a student – your parents and teachers.
NOTES:
For students entering grade 9 in 2012, I want to stress the importance of discussing your choices with your grade 8 teacher(s), and listening to their advice. Space in courses is often limited, so making the right choice the first time will increase your chance of getting into the courses most appropriate to you and your future. Course selection for students entering grades 10, 11 and 12 will take place online. Students will learn how to select courses in this way during guidance sessions at the end of semester 1. Grade 9 students will do course selection after guidance counsellors have visited the elementary schools in January.

INTER-SCHOOL ATHLETICS AND CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAM CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

Teams and activities are an important aspect of Madill’s co-curricular offerings. Students who participate are able to earn points toward the school letter, “The Big M”, which is based on the three prongs of academics, athletics and activities. Long after graduation, participation in co-curricular activities will bring back many positive memories.

Madill has clubs and activities for a broad range of interests and tastes. If theatre is your thing, join the drama club;Secondary they produce outstanding School plays and musicals. Everyone likes music; why not learn to play an instrument? We have different types of bands to match your interests. Other clubs at Madill include, Radio, Environmental Club, Yearbook, Student Council, OSAID, Peer Mentors, Peer Tutors and even Reach for the Top (as seen on TV). By joining clubs, you have the opportunity to attend fun and exciting workshops, tournaments and competitions, where you will gain valuable experience. You also have a chance to improve skills that may help you in the future, and the opportunity to meet other students with the same interests.
ATHLETICS
Madill offers an opportunity for athletes to compete in a wide variety of sports. The facilities are some of the best in Western Ontario and include two single gyms and one double gym, two soccer fields, a stone dust track and a weight room. Athletes on school teams practice regularly under the direction of a skilled coaching staff. Usually a student who is a regular member of a school team achieves high levels of fitness and skill performance. He or she does this in an environment where fair play and good sportsmanship are stressed. Depending on the activity, Madill’s coaching staff holds practices before and after the school day. Most practices are 1.5 to 2 hours in length and regular attendance is required. Madill is a member of the Huron Perth Athletic Conference, which is composed of eleven schools. There are some exciting competitions as Madill’s
purple and white Mustangs compete with other schools in the conference, where Madill athletes are known for their dedication to sport and to the pursuit of excellence. Each season, Madill has a generous share of Huron Perth Conference, WOSSAA (Western Ontario), and OFSAA (Ontario) honours. On the walls of the gymnasium hang numerous pennants won by teams, testimony to the school’s successes through the years. The athletic year at Madill has three seasons with boys volleyball, girls basketball, cross-country running, and golf offered in the fall; girls volleyball, boys basketball, Nordic skiing, hockey, curling, and swimming offered in the winter; and badminton, soccer, rugby and track and field offered in the spring. There are plenty of opportunities for athletes at Madill to become part of inter-school athletics. Not only is it a chance to develop individual and team skills and play some exciting sports, but many athletes take this opportunity to build lasting friendships. In addition to the competitive varsity sports teams, Madill occasionally offers a special lunch hour sports program. This program gives students the chance to be involved in fun, social activities promoting healthy active living.
SCHOOL SUPPORT SERVICES AND RESOURCES RESOURCE CENTRE
The F.E. Madill library resource centre is staffed by a teacher-librarian and a secretary/resource education assistant and it is open for student use from 8:30 to 4:00. The resource collection includes a large number of fiction, non-fiction and reference books which may be searched by title, author or subject using the computerized catalogue. There is a small collection of classroom-oriented videos in the library with more available from the Avon Maitland learning resource centre. We subscribe to a variety of magazines which are available for leisure reading and for research. Thirty computers, which have word processing and internet capabilities, are available in the resource centre lab for general use when not reserved for a class. Wireless internet access is also available in the Library and in some other areas throughout the school. Students are encouraged to make use of the library resource centre and to participate in the White Pine Reading Program which is run each year.
SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES
The F.E. Madill special education department, in consultation with the school principal, offers a range of services to support exceptional students, parents/guardians and teachers. The individual learning needs of each student determine the specialized support required with integration and inclusion the primary goal. The majority of students meet success in regular classrooms with program accommodations and environmental supports. The resource room is available throughout the day to assist in accommodation supports that may include technological supports, test and exam writing assistance, social/emotional respite, etc. At lunch time it is supervised to provide a safe environment for students to socialize or complete school work. For some students, an alternative setting may be necessary when their needs are so great that they cannot be met in an integrated setting. In these cases, exceptional learners receive appropriate programs and services in an exclusive special education classroom or program. The F. E. Madill special education department facilitates specialized support services through the school board and community agencies. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, educational assessments, blind and low vision, deaf and hearing impaired and behavior specialist work with our department and with families to improve educational programming. STUDENT SUCCESS
Our goal is that every student at FEMSS will have the best high school experience possible. To support this, the student success room offers an environment outside the regular classroom that is available to all students in the school. Students may use this room during class time (in collaboration with their regular classroom teacher) and/or during the lunch hour, to receive extra help with any academic or other difficulties they may be having. The student success teacher also goes out to our elementary schools in the late fall to talk to incoming grade 8 students about getting prepared for grade 9, and there is an opportunity offered to them to visit our school in the spring. C.O.P.E. (COOPERATIVE OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDING EDUCATION)
C.O.P.E. is an alternative education program offered to students currently out of school, or those encountering issues preventing their progress in school. It is a continuous entry program, usually including a coop experience. For more information, please contact a school administrator at Madill (519-357-1800).
AMDEC (Avon Maitland District E-Learning Centre)

AMDEC is a full distance, online secondary school course provider administered by the Avon Maitland District School Board. AMDEC offers secondary school courses to Ontario students on a modified continuous entry basis. Students normally register for AMDEC courses that are unavailable at Madill or that cannot fit into their class schedule. Students register for AMDEC classes at the discretion of a guidance counselor by E.appointment Madill in the guidance office. More information is available at amdec.ca. makingF.an
Secondary School Dual Credit Programs
Dual credit programs allow senior students the opportunity to earn high school and college credits at the same time. AMDSB is currently offering dual credits with the following college partners: Fanshawe College, Lambton College and Conestoga College. Students attend one of the college campuses for either a full or half day a week for approximately a fifteen week period. All travel and tuition costs are fully paid for by School College Work Initiative (SCWI). SCWI is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities.
Primary Focus of Dual Credit Programs
Dual Credit Programs are intended to assist secondary students in the completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and successful transition to college and apprenticeship programs. GUIDANCE AND CAREER EDUCATION PROGRAM
As students progress through high school, they will have opportunities to meet regularly with guidance counsellors who are available to assist with academic, vocational and personal concerns. Guidance department members make every effort to support students as they make personal, educational and career choices. Students who wish to see a guidance counsellor are encouraged to make an appointment by seeing the guidance secretary. Students experiencing academic difficulty in a particular course are encouraged to seek help from their teacher and, if needed, come to the guidance office to request a peer tutor. Recommended and/or volunteer students offer help to those wishing to access this service. More information is available upon request at the guidance office. The compulsory career studies course, which can be taken either in grade 10 or 11 in conjunction with civics, is an integral part of the career planning program as students consider their own strengths, skills and interests when looking at postsecondary destinations. It is essential that students have the necessary requirements for admission to the postsecondary career and/or institution which they are planning to attend. There are three excellent web-based planning tools for use by students and parents, as they offer insight into what is required to prepare for many different careers. www.successforlife.ca is a comprehensive web site that has been developed by the AMDSB; it addresses all four destinations with hotlinks to many other sites (much of the information is about local resources). myBlueprint.ca is a tool for planning a path through high school and beyond and is also used in the course selection process each year. Students require a school activation key in order to set up an account for the first time. www.careercruising.com is a user-friendly, password protected web site to which the Ministry of Education has purchased a licence. This site can be reached from any internet-accessible computer. The username and password for Career Cruising and the school activation key for MyBlueprint are available on posters in the guidance office or by contacting the school. Hard copy information (postsecondary calendars and brochures) about colleges, universities, private schools, apprenticeships and specific careers is available on a loan basis from the guidance office. Most postsecondary destinations have a website and the guidance office makes these addresses readily available. Guidance counsellors meet with students of all grade levels in a classroom setting to discuss course selection for the upcoming school year. Many student questions will be addressed at that time. If questions or concerns are still not answered, students should make a guidance appointment following the classroom visit. The final responsibility for the selection of courses rests with the student and parent. Again this year, course selection will take place online and parents will want to discuss the process with their child. During the classroom visits, students will be given a sheet of instructions on how to use the online course selection tool. Course selection must be completed no later than Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Since it may be difficult to change course selections after this date, students must choose carefully. If further help is required, feel free to contact the guidance office at 357-1800 and ask for one of the guidance counsellors - Mrs. V. King-Sherwood, Mr. R. Stryker or Mr. D. Gilchrist. We invite all parents/guardians to take an active role as your children plan their future at Madill and beyond.
COURSE CHANGES: POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Students wishing to change a course should make an appointment with a guidance counsellor. Students, in consultation with their parents, are encouraged to make informed choices during the course selection process, which takes place during January and February. There will be opportunities to consider adjustments to these choices later in the school year as second term marks become available. Students or parents are asked to contact the guidance office to discuss the possibilities for change of choices as early as possible. Once the timetable for the following year has been created, changes will be made subject to availability of space in the course of choice and the constraints of the student’s timetable. New courses at day school may be added to a student’s timetable until the end of the second week of classes in each semester. After this time, course type changes may be possible and courses may be dropped by students in a position to carry fewer courses, but no new day school courses may be added. A student wishing to have a study period must have at least 16 credits. To comply with the Ministry of Education’s policy on full disclosure, senior courses which are dropped five days or more after the first formal report card, become part of the student’s permanent record and are recorded on the student’s OST (transcript).
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ATTENDANCE
Students who fail courses or choose to withdraw from a course may jeopardize their attainment of an OSSD. Regular attendance at school is one of the most important ingredients for success in school and is critical for achievement of course expectations. Specific attendance policies and procedures at F.E. Madill S.S. are in the school planner, which is given to each student in September or following registration.
STUDENT FEES

There will be no fees or cost charged to students to participate in the regular day school program. Fees may be charged where the student chooses to upgrade the material or where purchase of material is optional. Students enrolled in secondary schools in Avon Maitland District School Board can expect to be provided with the basic classroom learning resources that are required in order to complete the course expectations. It is F.E. Madill recognized there may be optional resources that students may purchase to enhance their program; e.g. field trips, upgrading materials in courses such as construction technology and visual arts. Students are expected to come to school ready and willing to participate actively their own Secondary inSchool learning. To that end, students are expected to bring materials with them for their own personal note-taking (e.g. pencils, pens, paper, binders). Students are encouraged to purchase their school’s student card by paying the student activity fee. The student card includes but is not limited to the benefit of participating in the co-instructional program and in the Student Council dances and activities. The fee may also be used to reduce the total cost of a student’s yearbook. Students involved in co-instructional teams, groups and clubs will be made aware of any additional fundraising obligations or participation fees prior to making a commitment to participate.
ONTARIO CODE OF CONDUCT
The Ontario Code of Conduct is intended to assist students in their personal growth toward becoming mature, productive members of society. This growth should emphasize self respect, respect for the rights of others and respect for property. The most important realization for students is that each and every student is responsible for the consequences of his/her behaviour. Adherence to the Ontario Code of Conduct is the responsibility of students. Additional information and guidelines are developed for the school through the cooperation of parents, students and teachers and are in the school planner, which is given to each student in September or following registration.
AMDSB SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR
Specialist High Skills Majors in Construction or in Health and Wellness What is it
The SHSM enables students to gain skills and knowledge on the job and in school. It is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific sector while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.
The SHSM, in either Construction or Health and Wellness, includes the following five components: 1. 2. 3. 4.

A defined bundle of grade 11 and grade 12 credits as shown in the charts below. The following 4 components are completed through the MAJOR courses offered in grade 11 and 12. 7 Sector-recognized certifications and/or training courses including First Aid, CPR and WHMIS among others specific to the Construction or Health and Wellness sectors. Experiential Learning in the Construction or Health and Wellness sectors; this may include activities such as job shadowing, or an additional co-op. “Reach Ahead” Activities: These are learning experiences connected with the student’s post secondary pathway and have an assignment or task associated with it. They may include activities such as visiting a college to check out a program of interest, sitting in on a related class at university, or attending a trade show or workshop. Secondary School Successful completion of an SHSM is indicated on the student’s Ontario Secondary School Diploma by a red seal and is indicated on the student’s Ontario Student Transcript. COMPULSORY COURSES
Students should review the compulsory credits required for their OSSD. Students should also make sure they have successfully completed 40 hours of community involvement and the literacy test. The OLC4O course, in the English Department, is available for those who have not yet completed the literacy requirement. Postsecondary entrance can be very specific and sometimes diverse regarding subject admission criteria; each student who intends to apply to a postsecondary institution should check the requirements for the programs in the calendars or on the web site of the destination of interest. Most students applying to grade 12 will need the following to complete compulsory diploma requirement: English - University, College or Workplace

THE ARTS ADA1O Drama, Grade 9, Open
This course provides opportunities for students to explore dramatic forms and techniques, using material from a wide range of sources and cultures. Students will use the elements of drama to examine situations and issues that are relevant to their lives. Students will create, perform, discuss, and analyse drama, and then reflect on the experiences to develop an understanding of themselves, the art form, and the world around them.
AMU1O Music, Grade 9, Open
This course emphasizes the creation and performance of music at a level consistent with previous experience and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will develop musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical activities. Students will develop an understanding of the conventions and elements of music and of safe practices related to music, and will develop a variety of skills transferable to other areas of their life. This course is intended for those students who have little to no experience playing a wind/ brass/percussion instrument and will focus on the fundamentals of music reading, theory, and performance.
AVI1O Visual Arts, Grade 9, Open
This course is exploratory in nature, offering an overview of visual arts as a foundation for further study. Students will become familiar with the elements and principles of design and the expressive qualities of various materials by using a range of media, processes, techniques, and styles. Students will use the creative and critical analysis processes and will interpret art within a personal, contemporary, and historical context.
ADA2O Drama, Grade 10, Open
This course provides opportunities for students to explore dramatic forms, conventions, and techniques. Students will explore a variety of dramatic sources from various cultures and representing a range of genres. Students will use the elements of drama in creating and communicating through dramatic works. Students will assume responsibility for decisions made in the creative and collaborative processes and will reflect on their experiences.
AMG2O Music, Grade 10, Open
This course emphasizes the creation and performance of music at a level consistent with
previous experience. Students will develop musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical activities. Students will develop their understanding of musical conventions, practices, and terminology and apply the elements of music in a range of activities. They will also explore the function of music in society with reference to the self, communities, and cultures. This is an introductory course for guitar (classical or acoustic, not electric) and will include classical as well as modern guitar styles such as blues, pop, and rock; students are responsible for providing their own instrument (classical or acoustic). This course is not an alternative to AMU2O; rather, it is designed for those students who might otherwise not register for AMU2O. This course will be offered alternately with AMG3M; AMG2O is being offered in 2012-2013; AMG3M will be offered in the 2013-2014 school year.

This course emphasizes the creation and performance of music at a level consistent with previous experience. Students will develop musical literacy skills by using the creative and critical analysis processes in composition, performance, and a range of reflective and analytical activities. Students will develop their understanding of musical conventions, practices, and terminology and apply the elements of music in a range of activities. They will also explore the function of music in society with reference to the self, communities, and cultures. This course is intended for those students who have at least one to three years of experience playing a wind/ brass/percussion instrument and will focus on developing the techniques of music reading, theory, and performance, or who have taken AMU1O.
What are ‘expectations’? The knowledge and skills that students are to learn and be able to do in a course are called expectations.
AVI2O Visual Arts, Grade 10, Open
This course enables students to develop their skills in producing and presenting art by introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic exploration and experimentation. Students will apply the elements and principles of design when exploring the creative process. Students will use the critical analysis process to reflect on and interpret art within a personal, contemporary, and historical context.
ADA3M Drama, Grade 11, University/College Preparation This course requires students to create and perform in dramatic presentations. Students will analyse, interpret, and perform dramatic works from various cultures and time periods. Students will research various acting styles and conventions that could be used in their presentations, and analyse the functions of playwrights, directors, actors, designers, technicians, and audiences. COOPERATIVE EDUCATION COOP2 - 2 Credits (primarily for senior students)
Cooperative education is a program that allows students to explore career opportunities, gain valuable work experience, strengthen employment skills, and improve qualifications for future employment/education. Students also discover personal interests/abilities, develop confidence and obtain employment references. Time is divided between regular school classes and a work placement. Coop must be tied to a related course, preferably at the grade 11 or 12 level. Students who are responsible, dependable, and can handle the independence of combining work and school should consider going through the application process, which occurs early in the new year; application forms are due Wednesday, February 22, 2012. COOP4 – 4 Credits
This cooperative education program is similar to COOP2 described above but involves a full day instead of half a day. Consequently, students may work near their home with minimal traveling expenses. Since this is a four-credit program, students must have two related courses, preferably in grade 11 or 12. There are also additional assignments which must be completed.
OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) - Usually 4 Credits
This course is designed to allow students to earn credits while they work as an apprentice. Students may be paid an apprenticeship wage for the hours they accumulate towards their certification. Like COOP2 and COOP4, students wanting OYAP must have related courses, preferably at the grade 11 or 12 level. Students
must find their own employer if they wish to be paid, signed apprentices from the start. It is possible to enroll in this program and not be signed as an apprentice until later in the semester. Students wanting OYAP must complete a coop application early in the new year. Contact the coop department for more information. Note: Most unionized workplaces have their own rules and regulations regarding apprentices. Students wishing to apprentice in “union shops” should investigate the possibility well in advance.

This course is designed to help students acquire and demonstrate the cross-curricular literacy skills that are evaluated by the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). Students will read a variety of informational, narrative, and graphic texts and will produce a variety of forms of writing, including summaries, information paragraphs, opinion pieces, and

As students mature, practical work situations give students exposure to the community and build vocational skills. Upon graduation from this program, students receive a Certificate of Accomplishment.
Vocational Skills Class
In this class, students extend and refine their functional reading, writing and mathematics skills. Students have the opportunity to earn limited credits while practising skills to enable them to enter the workforce as effective, employable citizens. In the senior grades, exposure to the world of work through cooperative education is available. The curriculum is modified to meet individual needs and expectations. Delivery of programs is designed to compensate for reduced skill levels. There is also a concerted effort to extend core academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. Apprenticeship
A Drive to succeed David is a local guy, having lived in Wroxeter since early childhood. He went to Howick Public School then came to Madill, where his brother and sister both still attend. For him, attending school is all about acquiring the skills he needs for the next stage of his life. He didn’t get involved in extracurriculars, and he didn’t come to dances. He came to school to learn, and to figure out what career will suit him once he graduates.That’s where some of his classes, especially auto and cooperative education, have played a role.

He credits Mr. Armstrong and Mr. McIntosh with giving him advice and teaching him content that led him to thinking about a career as a truck/coach technician. His grade 11 co-op at Borrmann’s Garage gave him further prompting in that direction, and his grade 12 co-op at Hyndman’s Transport has confirmed his choice. He hopes to continue there for his apprenticeship after leaving Madill. David says he is the kind of guy who keeps to himself, but he has appreciated the support of his family along the way, and does have a bit of advice for those who, like him, are looking for a balance of good career, good earnings, and good family for the future: “Take co-op in grade 11... it will help you decide and narrow your choices down, then you can get the most CONTROL E K of your co-op in grade 12.” He A also says he wishes he’d taken some computer courses: “You need them in everything you do these days.” Very true, David.
Graham Finlay -
Graham is someone with a wide range of interests. In Lucknow, where he has always lived, he has been involved in various levels of hockey, teaches guitar, and has acted as part of H.A.W.K. Theatre. He works on the family farm, and spends his time on anything related to sound – recording, playing, whatever. At school, he was in the band for a year, and since then, has spent countless hours working at the sound board and being part of the radio club. He is a familiar face, taking care of the sound at school assemblies. Having worked at these assemblies, and being influenced by communications and computer teachers like Mr. Thynne and Mr. Johnston, Graham knows that he wants to study sound technician/engineering at college. His dream job would be to be a sound technician for big live performances like stadium rock concerts. As well as confirming his career choice, Graham’s time at school has been enjoyable. He especially liked getting to know his friends and teachers. He believes that a good life is all about living life fully and one day at a time. He would tell future Mustangs to pay attention, do your homework, be yourself, and most importantly, get involved in extracurriculars you enjoy. It seems likely that Graham’s positive attitude and sense of humour will allow him to achieve all of his goals.

Sheena has always lived in Wingham, attending Wingham Public school before coming to Madill, and AK this is where she learned that athletics would be an important part of her future. In and out of school, she was involved in many teams, including track & field, volleyball, basketball, softball and hockey. With her family’s support in providing opportunities to indulge her passion for sports, it is not surprising that her future plans include studying kinesiology at university, and perhaps going into athletic therapy. Madill is a welcoming place in Sheena’s opinion, where teachers work hard to get you to do your best, like Mrs. Verhaeghe who was both encouraging and fun during phys-ed. class. In fact, Madill coaches and teammates are the best, according to Sheena. One of her most enduring memories is when her basketball team beat Stratford Central’s team at Huron-Perth. Sports have taught her time management, leadership and organization, as well as providing fun times and friendship Sheena hopes to live a life where she remains happy and busy. She believes that a good life is one where you manage your time wisely and always remember to see the glass as half full. Her advice to future graduates of Madill is to get involved – there is something for everyone here, and it really makes a difference to the overall high school experience. There is no doubt that Sheena has made her own good experience through her positive attitude and quest to succeed.
Courtney Wenzlawski -Workplace Overcoming Life's Hurdles

Courtney is a young woman with a lot on her plate. She is a mother of two children who has had to move frequently over the past year or so, not to mention having health issues to deal with and financial concerns to sort out. Nevertheless, she has prioritized finishing her high school education, by working on completing her final five classes through the Madill COPE program. Courtney first moved to this area in 2007, and despite a number of difficulties, there were some things she really liked about attending Madill. She liked math class, and always appreciated how well Miss Bos explained difficult concepts. She also really enjoyed laughing and spending time with Mrs. Jackson in the Student Success room. That was where she began to think a lot about her personal life goals. Life changed dramatically when she became pregnant, though. Now, her chief goal is to stay at home with her children until they are in school, and to be a stable influence CONTRO E and a good role model for them. That’s part of L AK the reason why she is determined to earn her diploma. She wants to be the first Wenzlawski to do so, and she wants to always be able to tell her children what she accomplished. She knows, though, that the most important goal must be to get to know herself, and to find personal happiness from within. Good luck, Courtney!
