ABOUT THE SITE

It is proposed to locate the library in Pune, State of Maharashtra. Pune experiences moderate climate . The site is in the precinct of Deccan College, Postgraduate and Research Institute , the third oldest Educational Institute in India. The Deccan College was shifted to the new campus covering an area of 115 acres near Yerawada on 23rdMarch 1868.

OBJECTIVE

The primary act of public architecture is to create spaces that are socially edifying and socially liberating. With a prime focus on the building and site level services, this design theme will encourage students to think critically generate designs that are climate-responsive and have a sustainable approach in its process of development.

CONTEXTUAL (Climatic)

Design is symmetric and design is mainly focused on get more light inside and use cavity wall to reduce gain heat inside The column layout is done by grid system. Span length varying from 7 to 10meter

SPATIAL (Formal)

Location of each spaces are certain according to the concept. Symmetry creates balance, and balance in design creates harmony, order, and aesthetically pleasing results

GROUND FLOOR PLAN

Cavity wall have a heatflow that is 50% that of a solid wall

TECTONIC (Structure & Services)

The column layout is done by grid system. Span length varying from 7 to 10meter mechanical ventilated Solar panels has been used on the roof to generated electricity Rain water harvesting and under ground STP system for grey water
