“WHERE I AM FROM” POEMS By 2nd A (Bilingual Section)
WHERE I AM FROM I am from the floaty in the swimming pool, From Pinypon and Catán, I am from the living room in my house (silent, colorful, incense smell) I am from my grandfather’s cherrytree, blossoming in spring. I am from watching films in the evenings and eating pizza, From Mónica and Santiago I’m from decorating the Christmas tree and going to the beach, From Hurry up! and Tidy up! I’m from Fireworks, exploting in the dark sky. I am from Alcorcón, My grandparents barbecues, And my mother’s cake. From affection and love, The family memories to treasure and keep, From the family pictures in the living room, and the ones in our mobile phone.

Where I am from I am from mauve velvet armchairs, from Nesquik and carrot cake . I am from the fallen leaves in my terrace sparkling, crunchy and stiff. I am from potted fragrant tulips, dainty stems and scarlet petals. I am from movies on Sunday and ginger hair. From Manoli and Paco. I’m from freckles and spectacles. From tide your room and “ay la que te…” I’m from logic and reasoning , life and effort. I’m from the aqueduct and Cuarto’s bridge, from zucchini and pumpkin. From the fights against cancer and helping the handicapped child. Recorded in a hard disk And flying on a cloud, Are the videos and pictures Of my childhood and dreamed travels becoming true. Where I am from
I am from my very, very, very little white teddy bear. From the funny mornings playing with the Monopoly and from all my little dolls. I am from my little bedroom and those pink walls of my room. From the laughs, the shouts and the “wows” of my friends. I am from the smell of the roses in the park near my house. Those red and white roses that I used to see when I was younger. I’m from all those meetings and birthday parties with my family. From my mum and my daddy. I’m from all those meetings at my pool and those Saturdays watching films at night. From “Don’t judge other people” and “Make new friends”. I’m from those Sundays where I rest and I did not go to church. I’m from the Alcorcon’s hospital and from my grandfather. From my grandmother’s omelette and from the devilled eggs of all my birthday parties. From my aunt Carlos’s work trips. The laugh of my grandparents and the smile of my sister. I’m from all the photos, all the drawings, all that moments that make me remember those times when I was a very little child with very little problems, but with a very big smile. By Lucía López 2nd A
