How effective is the combination of your main product with ancillary texts?


Within my ancillary products and my music video I have the running motif of powder paint, it is featured in parts of my music video. It is what I intended to be the main theme running through my promotional package.The image I used for my album cover used in both my music magazine (left) and my digipak, is that of a powder paint explosion, something that was memorable within my music video. I also used another image in my digipak inside flap which was, again based around the explosion of powder paint.I developed this motif through my interest of the festival of colour, and the growing integration of indian customs into the indie genre.The brand identity is carried through my promotional package and would be recognisable to fans, as my pastel colour scheme and use of styling is coherent throughout. There is a definite style that I have accumulated as the typography and as well as spacing and lines is carried through. I used the same font for each aspect of my promotional package, I also underlined it in each aspect and the styling is the same throughout, as I do have a brand identity.


By using a image in my digipak from my music video, it featured the same actors, an audience would be able to make the connection and thus recognise the bands brand. Again my use of colour is carried through, and as my magazine advert is the image from the album artwork of my digipak this allows it to be coherent. I edited the colours in the inside spread of my digipak in order to carry the colour scheme of promotional package and cohere with both the outside of my digipak and the other aspects of my promotional package. The audience will be able to recognise my brand as I'm using the same actors and the use of powder paint is carried through.

The brand style is also carried through through the costumes that I have used, the indie style is current in the outfits that I styled and put together. Through the recurring style this does strength the brand identity, as well as again making it easier for the audience to recognise the genre and the band itself. I think that overall my promotional package is coherent and effective as it easily identified and I created a brand identity and used recurring motifs like the powder paint to make sure that it was identifiable.
