Entry #1 WGSN January 29th 2013 Looking around the WGSN website some major components I see are all the new season catwalk shows and you can view them by clothing, footwear or accessories. I really like that feature it is so cool! I see that they keep all their news articles up to date. You can click on different cities and see what is going on in that city which is awesome! Right at the top you can click on Inspiration & Design, Insight & Analysis, or Product Categories to quickly find what you’re looking for. I got the most use of the product categories because that one category has everything I would be looking for. I think this website is really useful to the fashion industry because you could find many different products or the latest news or watch the latest runway shows. Article I Chose The article I chose to read was about All Saints trying to become a billion dollar brand. The new chief executive William Kim actually pledged to turn the UK chain into a global 1 billion brand. In 2012, they had annual sales of 199 million. The company is going to start communicating with customers through social media like Facebook and Instagram and even text messages. In becoming a million dollar company they have to correct past mistakes which included too much inventory that created low earnings multiples. Now the CEO wants to use the company’s metropolitan attitude to create a brand following in Asia and extend its reach to North America. I think it is really exciting that All Saints is trying to become a billion dollar brand. I personally love the company and their products. I am also really looking forward that the company is reaching out to social networks. It is a fast and efficient way to get information out to the consumers.

Entry #2 History February 5 2013 th
The current fashion trend that I chose that contains
elements from the past is fringe. Fringe was a
huge trend in the 1970s and it is coming back on the fashion market. In the 70s it was on a lot of jackets and vests. It is still used on jackets and mostly vests today but fringe is more commonly seen on handbags like this one shown on the left. Designers from Steve Madden to Lucky Brand have incorporated fringes to their handbags.

Article The article I chose is about the launch of Coach’s new fragrance that was released on Valentine’s Day. The scent furthers Coach’s brands mission to address all sides of a woman’s personality. This particular scent is intended for the more romantic side of a woman’s personality. The company’s print advertising is coming out in March in fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazines. They have also created short ads and ads for Facebook tabs. I am personally really excited for this new scent. I already own one of the Coach’s perfumes and actually love it! The scent lasts all day and they are not too strong but not too week. After reading this article I want to go out and check it out.
Entry #4 Men’s Trend February 19th 2013 One trend that is really in right now for men are camo. A lot of the fashion forward guys are wearing camo for the winter months. Most of them sport it for bottoms. I would say the younger men that are more fashion forward spot this trend and are rocking it. I personally like this trend! Camo is also really in for girls but I like that it is universal and guys are wearing it too! I spotted a guy in the 600 S. Michigan Ave. building wearing camo shoes. They were the coolest pair of shoes ever. I stopped to compliment him and 5
6 ask him about them but he was running late to class. All he said was “I am loving the camo trend I have a sweater also.
Entry #5 New Show / Movie February 26th 2013

The show that recently aired that I’ve been watching is The Carrie Diaries on the CW. The TV show takes place back in the 70s and I love all of the fashion in the show. They wear bright colors and big chunky jewerly. The only thing I’m not a big fan of is their big poofy hair. Trends I’m hoping to come out of this new TV show is all the bright fun colors they wear. They also layer a couple different colors which I also enjoy as well! I also like all the big chunky necklaces and bracelets they wear. That would be a fun trend. I just overall like all the 70s clothing and would love to see more of it come back into style. I’m sure my mom would enjoy that too.

Guys should never wear socks and sandals together. The point of a sandal is to keep your foot cool; you’re just ruining the purpose with socks.
Everything is too small His pants are too short & his Jacket looks like is barley closes.
Women usually don’t know how to dress their body. They often buy shirts a size too small to make them feel better about themselves even if it doesn’t fit. 10
It’s never a good look to have your bra exposed. It gives the wrong look and its flattering on no one.
Entry #8 March 19th The department store I decided to observe was Macy’s. There were a few trends that crossed over in a few departments. One major one pastel colors. I noticed it the women’s, teen’s, men’s, and even in the house wear section. I noticed it in plates and in pillows. I also noticed a lot of leather in teens, house wear, and men’s. There was a lot of leather clothing and leather couch’s and chairs. I also saw a lot of floral prints in home goods, teens, and women’s departments. I saw a lot of retro inspired pieces as well. I saw a lot of round frames in the sunglass department, and a lot of black and white checkered items in the home goods. Different shades of blue were also something I saw a lot of in almost all the departments. Especially in the home goods department I saw a lot of blues in plates and glasses the most.

Entry #9 Visual Displays

These two displays are featured in Macy’s stores. I really like that they did somewhat of the same displays by the two entrances to the store. I think the bright colors will really draw the consumers to the displays.
This has to be one of It is in Anthropology. I the clothes they have Its something not a lot appealing. It really
my favorite visual displays. really like this because of suspended from the ceiling. of stores do and its really draws you into the store.
Entry #10 Designer Report Designer: Michael Kors Collection: Fall/Winter 2013 Ready To Wear I really like that he used a white bag for this look even though this is for a fall winter collection. I also like the fuzzy camo jacket. But I really like that he put a twist on with the blue and not the typical green.

14 I could see stores like Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales selling this bag but I can’t think of any retailers that would sell this jacket.
