RUN TO THE HILLS What are you waiting for? Join us this winter and make an effort to drop the boring day to day tasks and run to the hills to create memories that are worth remembering. In an effort to create a movement to get people up on the mountain and go snowboarding we will be hosting Run To The Hills events at local mountains around the globe to help bring the snowboard community together and rip some turns. Every event will be different, but the concept is the same - bring snowboarders together to ride, chill, have good times and strengthen the community. Join us this winter for some good times on a mountain near you, and hopefully learn a new trick, make a new friend, spray a ski patrol, or try some new shapes! #runtothehills

SNOW IS WHERE YOU FIND IT Ok, I stole this one from my old friend Gerry Lopez and tweaked it, but it’s true. I’m sitting here to write some intro words for our new 2017/18 Catalog. The new products have been developed, samples are under way, we’re stoked again. Went to ride the glacier with the kids two weeks ago, everyone was even more stoked. We had 4 inches of snow here at the office 10 days ago, now it’s gotten warm again and everything melted, except for the mountain tops. Not so stoked. Like any outdoor activity, Snowboarding is a mixed bag and you never know what you’ll get when you head out to the mountains. The point though is to head out, away from our daily grind, electronic gadgets and everyday worries. Will there be pow or icy crust? Groomers or rain? Who really cares, as long as you have a good time, ideally with a bunch of friends or family.

Overlaying a tighter sidecut radius in the center of the board with a larger one towards tip and tail is creating our exclusive POWERPODS which have two amazing effects: Our POWERPODS make the board super reactive and fast turning once it’s put on edge – while keeping it easy to control if ridden with less dynamics.
Kevlar© is used in bulletproof vests and body armor to protect your core. We use it in strategic places around the binding-toboard interface to protect the construction from impacts during hard landings.
Your secret weapon for rails, rocks and longevity! With it´s unique edge profile and an impact resistance of more than 200% compared to a standard edge - the Railkiller Edge is twice as thick and twice as strong. This proprietary construction can take on any rail challenge. Take a file to them or ride them hard and wear them down naturally, this chunk of steel has enough meat for years of abuse.
The latest in core technology, utilizing co-extruded miniature tubes, vertically aligned and welded, with unique energy absorption properties, KoroydTM is approximately 70% lighter than standard balsa wood, with no loss in strength or flex. This engineered core is utilized in the tip and tail of the new HIGHLANDER model for reduced swing mass and overall weight.

CAMBER LINES In today’s world there are so many different names, classifications, and marketing schemes out there that are used to hype up the camber design, most of them don´t even function in a way that will help people become better snowboarders. We have decided to cut the crap and keep snowboarding simple by simplifying our camber names and technologies to only those that work, and that are approved by our regional and global team riders, and friends. That is why we have chosen to offer the four camber profiles that really work, and we are not overcomplicating things by micro-slicing and renaming them – Even though all of our camber profiles are adjusted to match the type of person or terrain the boards are designed for, but TRUE camber is camber, Gullwing is gullwing, Flat-Out is Flat-Out, and Cam-Out is Cam-Out. Real camber technology that works, and does not need a marketing scheme to prove it.

TRÜE CAMBER
GULLWING ROCKER
TRÜE CAMBER is good old standard camber, which provides the stability and pop many shreds can´t live without. The amount of snap and support you get from a cambered board is unrivalled by any other camber design. Our TRÜE CAMBER varies between board models because each board is specifically designed for a certain terrain or type of riding. For example the TRÜE CAMBER in our Pantera has a larger height for maximum response, while the TRÜE CAMBER in our freestyle boards are lower to provide you with a more freestyle friendly flex, without losing the support and trust you need for stomping landings. Camber is Camber there is no point in over complicating it!
A hybrid camber/rocker profile in a league of its own, GULLWING ROCKER offers the best of both worlds for the all-mountain destroyer. The positive camber under each foot supplies riders with the response they know and love while the reverse camber profile in the center allows you to experience unparalleled float in the powder, as well as pressability in the park. This do-it-all design allows you to have a quiver of one and ride the whole mountain like a terrain park.

FLAT-OUT ROCKER is a hybrid flat camber profile where the nose and tail lift off before the traditional contact points, providing effortless turns, and catch-free maneuvers. The lifted nose and tail provide excellent float, pressability, and forgiveness in any terrain. The ultimate hybrid between Zero Camber and Reverse Camber to allow you to have the most playful yet stabile ride for easy progression and all-mountain domination. The profile of choice for park, freestyle, and urban riders worldwide.
Our CAM-OUT Camber is basically a TRÜE Camber with early and smooth transitions into tip and tail. The result is a fun and responsive board that turns on the spot and is forgiving, even after that 713.5° landing!

REFLEX CORE PROFILE: ENHANCED PROFILE CONTROL
WHIPLASH CORE PROFILE: MAXIMUM OLLIE POWER
A thinner core profile between your feet improves handling and increases torsional flex, allowing you to steer your board through a turn with ease.
This profile features reduced thickness between the inserts with added meat outside your feet for maximum ollie power, while maintaining a perfect press flex.
FLEX PROFILES The third component in a board’s performance is flex. Softer boards are easier turning, stiffer ones better for higher speeds. But it’s the combination with camber and sidecut that makes a board magic – or trash. And don’t be fooled: Hand flexing a board in the shop may give you a first hint, but it takes a lot of experience to make a correct judgement of a board’s performance by flexing it in the shop. You can trust us to design each board flex to be the right fit for that particular board’s shape, camber and purpose. URBAN: SMOOTH AND LOOSE

SIDECUTS Sidecuts are as important to a board’s performance as flex and camber/rocker lines. A sidecut defines how a board turns, carves and holds an edge. But, it’s the combination of all the features that make a board work well for it’s designed purpose. We at Nitro have pioneered most of today’s common sidecut geometries and have access to over 25 years of experience of fine-tuning each individual board model. Therefore, we have also simplified the tech jungle for you. You can get a first taste of what the shapes will feel like, but you can leave it up to our engineers to make each board just right for you!

A larger radius in the front, blended into a tighter one towards the tail: The progressive sidecut makes accelerating out of turns a breeze, while maintaining a catch-free nose area.

The progressive width is an exclusive feature on the Überspoon and Slash. Starting out with a medium width profile at the smallest size, these boards get progressively wider as they go up in size, ensuring an ideal board-to-boot match and a perfectly balanced board for riders of every size.
A Nitro original invention: already 25 years ago, we figured out that the body‘s ability to lean into a turn is different between toe- and heelside. So we designed the Asymmetrical Twin, a board that has a deeper heelside sidecut to compensate for the human body‘s inability to bend the knees in both ways :-). The Diablo model is a modern interpretation in shape, construction and flex of the two asymmetrical twin boards offered back in the day.

RE/LACE LINER LOCKER Another innovation from your friendly developers at Nitro: The RE/ LACE Liner Locker provides easy adjustability of your inner boot lacing when your boot shell is already tightened (tied), by just pulling up on the lace handle. This allows you to (re)tighten your liner and foothold throughout the day (on and off the chairlift) without having to untie you boot.
TLS 5 Twin Lacing System Nitro leading the pack with the TLS 5 lacing system: Easy lace engagement and release, combined with the low abrasion of our Dyneema® laces are the key factors of this highly reliable zonal lacing system. At the same time, the TLS 5 features compact size and low weight while maintaining the reliability proven by tens of thousands of days on the mountain. Even though rarely needed, servicing and replacement of all parts including the lace is easier than with any other system on the market. MOLDED TLS LACE HANDLES Our molded TLS lace handles provide better grip and comfort for more lacing power

ILS (INTERNAL LACING SYSTEM) Our ILS system features a lacing harness firmly connected to the boot shell. This harness snugly wraps around the liner, securing it in the shell and providing precise lacing and fit. Our engineered ILS laces provide less friction and a Dyneema® core for added strength.

ORTHOLITE FOOTBEDS Together with OrthoLite, the World’s Leading Supplier of OpenCell Foam Insole Technology, we have developed new footbeds in dual and triple density versions for different levels of support and comfort: OrthoLite compresses less than 5% with excellent levels of shock absorption and energy return. Fit and comfort inside the boot will remain consistent for the life of the OrthoLite product. The unique open cell structure of OrthoLite also creates a moisture management system inside the boot by moving moisture away from the foot leaving foot drier. When the foot is removed from the shoe any remaining moisture dries very quickly due to the airflow allowed by the open cell network in the foam. OrthoLite contains a patented anti-microbial formulation to fight fungus, bacteria, and odor. The biocide is added during formulation so that it is linked to the foam and will not wear off or lose effectiveness over time. The Aegis anti-microbial treatment is EPA and FDA approved. OrthoLite is extremely lightweight providing optimum performance and without adding excess weight to the boot. OrthoLite is completely washable and will not hydrolysize. Just throw them in your washing machine and they come out like new.

D3O TECHNOLOGY D3O is a smart material that moves slowly and increases comfort when in a normal state, but when shock or impact is increased the materials lock together to absorb and disperse energy created upon impact, before instantly returning to its flexible state. What this means is that the material increases overall comfort of the liner by absorbing impact from deep landings or choppy snow conditions – allowing you to go faster and deeper all day!

LINER HEAT MOLDABILITY Our Cloud Liners are constructed from Thermacell material, using Nitro specific casts and our signature Latex Heel Pads. This ensures long lasting fit and comfort without fatigue. While this is not necessary, all our liners can be thermo-molded for an even more custom fit. Specific heating system and tools are available. RUBBER IMPACT PANELS Selected EVA outsoles are reinforced with strategically placed rubber reinforcements for added resistance. DLS (DIRECT LACING SYSTEM) Directly connected to the liner, the DLS also features Dyneema® loaded low-friction laces on selected models for ultimate fit and comfort. POWER TONGUE STIFFENER For those looking for adjustable stiffness throughout the day or season, you can use our removable tongue stiffener to change between premium precision or more of a relaxed feel. From the steep and deep to the groomers you can customize your boot feel perfectly for your personal style. EVA OUTSOLE To reduce weight even more, we are using full EVA outsoles on selected models. While keeping weight low, the EVA also provides great impact absorption and thermal insulation INTERLOCK SYSTEM Developed to help keep the liner heel in one place and eliminate any kind of heel slippage or lifting. Have you ever dreamt about riding in terrain, where you leave civilization completely behind you? Waking up every morning in a warm cabin with nothing but snow covered mountains around. Being surrounded by surreal glacial views. What was just described are the Highlands of Iceland. The arctic landscape of the little island is one of the undiscovered splitboard playgrounds of the world. Looking at a map of Iceland, in the very heart you find the mountain range of Kerlingarfjöll. Kerlingarfjöll is truly the right place for splitboard expeditions, it is also a part of a 100km long volcano system. It rises up from the flat glaciated tundra, with mountain reaching up to 1400 meters. Riding terrain varies from steep gully´s, exposed cliff drops and long hills surrounded by geothermal steam coming up from the ground. It´s a dynamic and playful terrain for the exploring mind to get “lost” in. Because of the mountain tourism in summer, Kerlingarfjöll area offer a comfortable accommodation at the roots of the many peaks
surrounding you. For the touring feeling, the many different roots through the mountains lead to more isolated huts, for the authentic cabin culture of Iceland. “The Arctic landscapes are not only about surviving, it´s filled with untouched mountain terrain. While the cold and wind brings people together as a group, where everyone are there to have fun and enjoy. The stress of everyday life really gets left in the lowlands” Since traveling around the area requires crossing glacier rivers and other terrain, we have adopted few ways of transportation. Snowmobiles // Super-jeeps // Helicopters are at hand, getting us in and out of places. With that said, we stick by the “earn your turns” philosophy, where the transport is only to get in the bottom of every mountain.
