// Study Model

HOPEA OASIS // Home Transit Programme

In this semester, we were given a chance to do an Experimental Housing. The housing were focused mainly for the urban poor, or ‘miskin bandar’. The exercise for this semester is to provide these two group of people – the B40 and poor. Existing social housing schemes aimed for the two groups have turned into urban slums due to rapid urbanization. ‘’No one gets left Behind’’ is housing for the people who are taken for granted. This is an exercise aiming to adequate, safe and comfortable living environment for the community. Housing is not just about a place to stay, eat and sleep. It’s a living community as a whole.

ABE SAPIENS //Experimental Shelter

Snuggle between the woods and sea, a shelter for our character was proposed suits to the characters need. The beginning of our semester on understanding how and what a space can give to us. By choosing Abe Sapiens (famously known from the Hellboy’s movie). The character intrigued me when I first watch the movie because I always think how he actually live on land. And how unique it must be to be in his lifestyle. Creating this shelter creates lots of process of understanding one’s need. How

p.14

Abe walks, eat, live, sleep and etc. the façade of the building mimic the rooting of the nearby trees by the beach since Abe is a solitary character and like to be in disguise. Abe has no bedroom area since does most of his activity underwater. The tank (in the middle where there is a spiral staircase surrounding it) is where he sleeps and do his reading. This is the most personal project for me because it gave me the idea that, creating a space must have a meaning towards our client. What they need in it and how do we perceive it in our design.

Work Experience

Z&SR Architect //IIBF Masterplan //Event Hall & Instituition

I became fond of the concept of connectivity between building in terms of functions. We were asked to propose new building (IIBF) to the existing campus (Islamic campus thus have islamic architecture to its prior campus). Major issues that I had during this projects are the topography of the site, connectivity between buildings in term of functions, and how to make the complex visible from the adjacent major highway. As the team leader, I took the initiative of carrying out site visits to study the topography and the possible new accessibility from the old and current one access to ensure responsiveness of our proposals to the current users. Apart from that, this projects trains me to produce various masses and architectural language before creating the final product.

interaction linkage
