Surah Yusuf & the Origin of False Flag Operations An Islamic Response to another False Flag Operation in Paris Introduction

By Shaykh Faheem(ILS)

On the evening of 13th November 2015, a series of coordinated ‘terror’ attacks in the form of mass shooting, suicide bombing & hostage crises in Paris sent shockwaves across the world. To the families of the victims, we express our deepest sympathy at their loss and hereby place on record, that aside from the minorities who support the radical views of the bogus Islamic State (ISIS), the majority of 1.68bn Muslims categorically condemn and incontrovertibly denounce such behavior, particularly in the name of Islam! This however, is not the basis of our essay. Our approach is of far greater significance. The analysis will be focused on the singular ‘fact’ which led the world to be stereotyped into believing that the perpetrators of the Paris attacks were indeed Muslim viz. the emergence of a Syrian passport recovered amid the carnage! Sounds familiar?

The Mysterious Fire-Proof Passport...Strikes again In probably the most horrific terrorist event in modern history, the collapse of the twin towers was undoubtedly a tragic one. The buildings which were designed to withstand temperatures in excess of thousands of degrees collapsed in the manner of a purposeful demolition. Hundreds and thousands of tons of rubble from the debris halted progress on all fronts, delaying the identification process of thousands of victims. Miraculously though, amidst the chaos, passports were recovered from the hijacked planes. Paper it seems, is stronger than metal! In the wake of the Paris attacks, a Syrian passport was recovered. Once again, the consistency of the fireproof paper is in evidence for all to see. That’s all it took, and in a matter of days, many innocent Syrian Muslims have lost their lives in the crossfire. Since our position is to categorically refute the emergence of a fireproof passport as the reason through which Islam and Muslims now face further Islamophobia, we must progress to understand the concept and origin of a ‘False Flag’ operation and turn to the Qur’an & Sunnah for guidance. As a corollary of that blatant lie, the overall Muslim community is branded once more with the Islamophobic signature of terror. It is for this reason that we turn to the Qur’an, combined with Islamic Eschatology for guidance in order to unravel the origin of the concept of ‘False Flag Operations’ in the modern age.

False Flag Operations A cursory study into the concept reveals that historically, the term ‘False Flag’ has its origins in naval warfare where the use of a flag other than the belligerent’s true battle flag as a ruse de guerre, before engaging the enemy, has long been accepted. The contemporary term ‘False flag’ describes covert operations that are designed to deceive in such a way that the operations ‘appear’ as though they are being carried out by entities, groups, or nations other than those who actually planned and executed them. This is the basis upon which the War against Islam aka the ‘War on Terror’ has been forged upon. It seems as though the age of Appearance vs. Reality is in play yet again.

The Qur’an & the Origin of False Flag Operations In essence, a False Flag Operation requires : a) Motive - the driving force behind all crimes. b) Plot – A scheme through which the motive is justified. c) Plan of execution d) Cover up Story – ensuring that someone else gets the blame. Prior to our analysis on the origin of ‘False Flags’, we must turn to one of the most pivotal verses in the Qur’an in order to understand the modern age. Allah Almighty states in the Qur’an:

”...And We reveal the Scripture unto thee as an exposition of all things, and a guidance and a mercy and good tidings for those who have surrendered (to Allah).” (Surah An-Nahl, V.89) With the above-mentioned verse at the forefront of the analysis, it follows that the Qur’an must have narrated to us an incident which meets the criteria of displaying a motive coupled with a plot, followed by plan of execution, and topped with a cover up story. Furthermore, since the Qur’an explains all things, it must also direct us (the people of this age) to the puppeteers in the field of deception & false flag operations. Only the Qur’an can explain the mysterious age that we reside in.

The Qur’an & the Origin of False Flag Operations In what is known as ‘Ahsanul Qasas’ ( The Best of Stories), Surah Yusuf is placed as one of the most unique stories told in the Qur’an and its attention to detail is wondrous to behold. By its own admittance, the Surah tells us that its message is clear (12:1) and its revelation in the Arabic language is to induce the rational faculty (12:2). Furthermore, It displays to us with clarity that whilst Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) is at the epicenter of the narrative, one must be observant and pay careful attention to his initial nemeses as it is so brilliantly articulated.

The Motive: “When they said: Certainly Yusuf and his brother are dearer to our father than we, though we are a (stronger) company; most surely our father is in manifest error” (Surah Yusuf 12:8) The motive is quite clear. They were in search of their father’s love and affection but thought his love to be reserved for his other two sons (Yusuf and Bin Yameen). In the pursuit of their father’s love, emerged the next step of their deceptive plan.

The Plot: “Slay Yusuf or cast him (forth) into some land, so that your father’s regard may be exclusively for you, and after that you may be a righteous people.” (Surah Yusuf, 12:9) In order to gain the love and affection they so desperately sought, their plan was to remove Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) from the fold altogether by any means necessary. In order to achieve their goal, they were willing to even kill their half-brother in the process. In sharing their viewpoints with one another, there was no consensus on the matter of killing him, after all, he was their half-brother. The eventual decision was to strategically throw him into a well which would be frequented by some travellers who would take him to a distant land (12:10), albeit forcefully as a slave, and sell him in the marketplace.

The Plan of Execution: They decided that the best way forward was to earn the trust of their father by appearing to be ‘well-wishers’ (12:11) to Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) and guardians to him (12:12). Being a Prophet of God as well, Ya’qub (Jacob peace be upon him) identified the ‘wolf’ in sheep clothing by alluding to his fear of Yusuf (peace be upon him) being eaten by a wolf (12:13). At their insistence (12:14), he reluctantly let his beloved son Yusuf (peace be upon him) go, and the rest they say, is history!

The Cover up: Having followed through with their evil plan and having thrown him into the well (12:15), what was now required from them was to ‘stage’ a cover up story. The first stage of this pivotal part of the plan was to once again portray themselves as well-wishers who are in mourning, followed by a false sense of responsibility by highlighting that they were truthful in the above matter, but in reality, they had aforetime succumbed to the concept of their father’s possible disbelief in their affair (12:17). Since they had anticipated their father’s rejection of their side of the story, they went to great lengths in order to make him believe. The Qur’an explains: “And they brought his shirt with false blood upon it”(12:18)

The brothers slaughtered an animal and dipped Prophet Yusuf’s shirt in the blood to give credence to their story of him being eaten by the wolf. The animal here may be regarded as the sacrificial lamb which had to pay the ultimate price in order for a few men to achieve their goal. In retrospect of this part of the story of Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him), the Qur’an has displayed to the contemplative reader, the very essence, intimate details and mechanisms of a ‘False Flag’ operation. No rational person can reject the correlation between the contemporary understanding of a False Flag Operation and the insightful manner in which the Qur’an has detailed the incident. “Verily in Joseph and his brethren are signs for the inquiring. (Surah Yusuf, 12:7) The Qur’an has directed the attention of the inquisitor to the implicit ‘signs’ of both sides of the narrative viz. Yusuf (peace be upon him) and his brothers, in order to unravel its mysteries. When we focus our attention to his brothers, we firstly identify that their actions against Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) was not without motive. “...And We reveal the Scripture unto thee as an exposition of all things, and a guidance and a mercy and good tidings for those who have surrendered (to Allah).” (Surah An-Nahl, V.89) With the above-mentioned verse at the forefront of the analysis, it follows that the Qur’an must have narrated to us an incident which meets the criteria of displaying a motive coupled with a plot, followed by plan of execution, and topped with a cover up story. Furthermore, since the Qur’an explains all things, it must also direct us (the people of this age) to the puppeteers in the field of deception & false flag operations. Only the Qur’an can explain the mysterious age that we reside in.

Points of Interest: Consider the following; •

In the opening verses of Surah Yusuf, he saw a dream in which there were 11 stars in obeisance to him (12:4). By the end of this beautiful historic event, those 11 stars were in fact, his own brothers who bowed to him (12:100) in the end. The 11 brothers, plus Yusuf (peace be upon him) totals to 12.

Conclusion: As a believer of a religion which is faced with constant bombardment from the media in the form of Islamophobic statements, I am well aware of the backlash one may receive for even raising an eyebrow in this direction.

If ‘Freedom of Speech’ and ‘Freedom of Religion’ appear to be anything remotely close to what the democracies of the world preach it to be, then in reality we should have the freedom to discuss the inferences from our Holy Book, coupled with reason. The information in this article combined with the subject of Islamic Eschatology causes us to look for an era when False Flag Operations become the vanguard of discussion once more.

During that time, we must unearth the truth by returning to the Qur’an and the prophetic traditions of Nabi Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him) in order to explain this bogus age we are witnessing.

To the Muslims who are suffering as a result of the age of deception, we remind them of a profound verse of the Qur’an: “And (the infidels) plotted and planned, and Allah too planned, and the best of planners is Allah.” (Surah Aal-Imraan, 3:54)

One Salat al-Jumuah performed whilst wearing an Imamah is equivalent to 70 without it. The Holy Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) told Sayyiduna Abu Zar Ghaffari (radi Allahu anhu) that if he wished to fast, then he should fast for three days in a month, namely the 13th, 14th and 15th of every Islamic month. KNOW THE COMPANIONS HADHRAT ABBAAD BIN BISHR (RADIALLAHU ANHU) & HIS LOVE FOR THE QUR’AN It was the fourth year after the Hijrah. The city of the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) was still under threat from within and without. From within the influential tribe of the Banu an-Nadhir, broke their agreement with the Prophet(Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) and made plans to kill him. For this, they were banished from the city. This was in the month of Safar.

Two months of uneasy quiet passed. Then the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) received news that tribes from distant Najd were planning an attack. To pre-empt them, the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) gathered a force of over four hundred men whilst leaving one of his companions Sayyiduna Uthman ibn Affan RadiAllahu Anhu in charge of the city, set out eastwards. Among this force was the young Madinan, Abbad ibn Bishr. Arriving at Najd, the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) found the habitations of the hostile tribes strangely deserted of men. Only women were about. The men had taken to the hills. Some of them regrouped and prepared to fight. The time of Salat al-Asr (the afternoon prayer) came. The Prophet (peace be upon him) feared that the hostile tribesmen would attack them during prayer. He arranged the Muslims in ranks and divided them into two groups and performed the prayer as the Salaatul Khawf (the Prayer of Fear). With one group he performed one rakah while the other group stood on guard. For the second rakah the groups changed places. Each group completed its prayer with one rakah after the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) had finished. On beholding the disciplined ranks of the Muslims, the hostile tribesmen became uneasy and afraid. The Prophet (peace be upon him) had made his presence felt and something of his mission was now known at first hand in the central highlands of Arabia whence he departed peacefully.

On the way back, the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) pitched camp in a valley for a night. As soon as the Muslims had settled their camel mounts, the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) asked: “Who will be our guard tonight?” “We, O Messenger (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) of God,” said Abbaad ibn Bishr and Ammar ibn Yasir both of whom had been paired off as ‘brothers’ by the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) when he arrived in Madinah after the Hijrah. Abbaad and Ammar left for the mouth of the valley to take up duty. Abbaad saw that his “brother” was tired and asked him: “What part of the night do you wish to sleep, the first or the second?” “I shall sleep during the first part,” said Ammar who was soon fast asleep quite close to Abbad. The night was clear, calm and peaceful. The stars, the trees, and the rocks all appeared to celebrate in silence the praises of their Lord. Abbad felt serene. There was no movement, no threatening sign. Why not spend the time in ibadah (worship) and reciting the Quran? How delightful it would be to combine the performance of Salat with the measured recitation of the Quran which he so much enjoyed. In fact Abbaad was enthralled by the Quran from the moment he first heard it being recited by the mellow and beautiful voice of Hadhrath Musab ibn Umayr RadiAllahu Anhu That was before the Hijrah when Abbaad was just about fifteen years old. The Quran had found a special place in his heart and day and night thereafter he would be heard repeating the glorious words of God so much so that he became known among the Prophet’s companions as the “friend of the Quran”. Late at night, the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) once stood up to perform the Tahajjud Prayer in Aishah’s (Radiallahu anha) house which adjoined the Masjid. He heard a voice reciting the Quran, pure and sweet and as fresh as when the angel Jibril revealed the words to him. He asked: “Aishah, is that the voice of Abbad ibn Bishr?” “Yes, O Messenger (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) of God,” replied Aishah. “O Lord, forgive him,” prayed the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) out of love for him.

MUHARRAM-RABI-UL-AWWAL 1437 NOV 2015-JAN 2016

And so in the stillness of the night, at the mouth of the valley in Najd, Abbaad stood up and faced the Qiblah. Raising his hand in surrender to God, he entered into the state of Prayer. Finishing the compulsory opening chapter of the Quran, he began reciting Surah al-Kahf in his sweet, captivating voice. Surah al-Kahf is a long Surah of one hundred and ten verses which deals in part with the virtues of faith, truth and patience and with the relativity of time. While he was thus absorbed in reciting and reflecting upon the Divine Words, eternal words of illumination and wisdom, a stranger stalked the outskirts of the valley in search of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) and his followers. He was one of those who had planned to attack the Prophet (peace be upon him) but who had fled into the mountains on the approach of the MusIims. His wife whom he had left in the village had been taken as a hostage by one of the Muslims. When he eventually found that his wife was gone, he swore by al-Lat and al-Uzzah that he would pursue Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions and that he would not return unless he had drawn blood. From a distance, the man saw the figure of Abbaad silhouetted at the mouth of the valley and he knew that the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his followers must be inside the valley. Silently he drew his bow and let fly an arrow. Unerringly it embedded itself in Abbaad’s flesh . Calmly, Abbad pulled out the arrow from his body and went on with his recitation, still absorbed in his Salah. The attacker shot a second and a third arrow both of which also found their mark. Abbaad pulled out one and then the other. He finished his recitation, made ruku and then sujud. Weak and in pain, he stretched out his right hand while still in prostration and shook his sleeping companion. Ammar awoke. Silently, Abbad continued the Salah to its end and then said: “Get up and stand guard in my place. I have been wounded.”

Ammar jumped up and began to yell. Seeing them both the attacker fled into the darkness. Ammar turned to Abbad as he lay on the ground, blood flowing from his wounds. “Ya Subhanallah (Glory be to God)! Why didn’t you wake me when you were hit by the first arrow?” “I was in the midst of reciting verses of the Quran which filled my soul with awe and I did not want to cut short the recitation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) had commanded me to commit this surah to memory. Death would have been dearer to me than that the recitation of this surah should be interrupted.” Abbaad’s devotion to the Quran was a sign of his intense devotion to God, His Prophet and His religion. The qualities he was known for were his constant immersion in ibadah, his heroic courage and his generosity in the path of God. At times of sacrifice and death, he would always be in the front line. When it was time for receiving his share of rewards, he would only be found after much effort and difficulty. He was always trustworthy in his dealings with the wealth of Muslims… Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), once said: “There are three persons among the Ansar whom no one could excel in virtue: Sad ibn Muadh, Usayd ibn Khudayr and Abbad ibn Bishr.” Hadhrath Abbaad bin Bishr (Radiallahu anhu) died the death of a martyr at the battle of Yamamah. Just before the battle he had a strong presentiment of death and martyrdom. At the break of day when the battle commenced, Abbaad ibn Bishr stood on a mound and shouted: “O Ansar, distinguish yourselves among men. Destroy your scabbards. And do not forsake Islam.” Abbaad harangued the Ansar until about

9

four hundred men gathered around him at the head of whom were Thabit ibn Qays, al-Baraa ibn Malik and Abu Dujanah, the keeper of the Prophet’s sword. With this force, Abbad unleashed an offensive attack into the enemy’s ranks which blunted their thrust and drove them back to the “garden of death”. At the walls of this garden, Abbad ibn Bishr fell. So numerous were his wounds, he was hardly recognizable. He had lived, fought and died as a believer. This great sahabi’s name is met with frowns by the Muslim world. His efforts have been forgotten by us. His devotion to the Qur’an was enormous. Alas, the Ummah of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam seem to have very little love for the Qur’an nowadays. We devote more time to the dunya than we do to word of Allah Ta Aala. Allah Azza wa Jal guide us via the shining example set forth by the companions of Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Salaam. What is the permissibility of delaying Namaaz until close to the time of the next Namaaz? One of the brothers at work delays reading Zuhr until about 30 mins before Asar so that he can pray both of his prayers without having to do Wuzu again. I have tried to convince him to offer his Zuhr Namaaz earlier but require some assistance please. Jazak Allah Khair

A

< Wa Alaykum Al-Salam Al-Jawaab: The obligation of the five daily prayers is prescribed with a beginning and end time. Allah the Almighty says in Surah Nisaa’, verse: 103, Indeed, Salah is a scheduled obligation upon the believers” This means that there is a fixed time frame within which it is obligatory upon us to ensure we perform each salah. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) said, There is a beginning and end (time) for salah. The beginning time for Zohr is when the sun inclines (towards setting from its highest point) and its end time is when the time of Asr enters.”

“ “

This is recorded in Tirmizi and in a wellknown narration Sayyiduna Jibreel, upon him be peace, came and performed salah with the Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) on the first day when salah first became an obligation. On this first day, they both performed salah at the very beginning time of each salah. Then on the second day Sayyiduna Jibreel, upon him be peace, came and performed each salah with the Prophet (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) at the very end time of each salah. Therefore, it is permissible to perform Zohr near the end time and the Asr near the beginning time.

prayer at its beginning time. This is known as Jam’ Soori which is perfectly permissible according to our Hanafi School as it is established from the Hadith. This Jam’ Soori should not be made a habit but should only be practised in times of difficulty such as travelling, sickness or working for a non-Muslim company in a country governed by non-Muslims. The reason why it should not be made a habit is because the Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) ordered us to perform our prayers in their preferred times within their obligatory times. For example, he said, He who performs the Fajr prayer when it becomes bright (delays it to near the end time), Allah will brighten his grave and his heart and will accept his prayer.”

This is recorded by Imam Daylmi in his Musnad and it means that if someone was to delay his Isha till the end time and then perform his Fajr at the very beginning then his prayers are valid but he has not gained the reward of the preferred time. For the Zohr prayer, it is preferred (more reward) to perform it early in the cold seasons and to delay it in the warm seasons. As for the Asr prayer, it is preferred to delay in all seasons but not so much that the sun becomes easy to stare at in the absence of dust and smoke (pollution) as is mentioned in Bahare Shariat. As for Jam’ Haqeeqi, which is to gather two prayers in the time of one of them, it is impermissible in all situations besides the two exceptions in Hajj and Allah knows best. Zahid Hussain Al-Qadri (Beggar at the doorstep of Scholars)

There are many narrations in the books of Hadith where the Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) gathered two prayers together at certain times which is known as Jam’ Bayn Al-Salaatayn. This was to perform one prayer near its end time and the next

Q

> Asalaamualaykum Mufti Sahib, I have a couple of questions;

1

) Is it preferred to get married young? I’m 19 and wish to get married but especially in culture I’ll be seen as too young, immature etc. Also is it allowed for me and my wife to live separately, whilst we are at university? This is a way to reduce any haraam and sins. And then move in together after university?

2

) are they any wazaif you could give me for depression, and fulfilling ones wishes, and for happiness?

A<

Wa Alaykum Al-Salam Al-Jawaab: 1. It is preferred that people get married at a young age if they have the financial and physical capability to fulfil the rights of their spouse. In the thirty second and thirty third verses of Surah Al-Noor, Allah the Creator has said, “And marry those off who are single amongst you and the pious of your slaves and maid-servants. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them by His grace. And Allah is the All Capable All Knowing. And those who do not have the means to get married must keep chaste till Allah gives them independence by His grace.” The Messenger of Allah said, “O community of the young! He, who possesses the financial and physical capability to marry from amongst you, should get married, because it lowers the gaze (from looking towards ghayr mahaarim) and protects the private parts (from sin). And he who does not possess the capability to marry then he should fast because it (fasting) kills the desires.” The Quran and Sunnah advise us to have our youth married at a young age if they are financially and physically capable of fulfilling the rights of each other. As long as the financial capability

is present and enough, one should not delay marriage waiting for more finances because Allah has promised to enrich those who marry if they are poor. It is also important to note that in order to protect the society and community from filthy sins, it is important to marry the youth at young ages. It is clear that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) advised that marriage protects the gaze from looking towards those men and women that are unlawful for him/her and it also protects the private parts from desiring the unlawful men and women. Although following this advice will not completely eradicate the rising instances of fornication, adultery and rape, it will certainly help decrease them. Those people who have not had the opportunity to get married and feel uncontrollable desires which distract them from their daily work and concentration should consider fasting or even eating less and remaining slightly hungry. This reduces their sexual desires and prevents the satan from controlling their desires and Allah knows best. Once a person is married, the person must fulfil the rights of the spouse. There is no harm in living separately due to a necessity such as education or work purposes. However, it is important to ensure that they do not stay away from each other for more than four months at a time. The leader of the believers, Sayyiduna Umar Allah is pleased with him, ordered the people during his Khilaafah that every man must not stay away from his spouse for more than four months. This law that Sayyiduna Umar Allah is pleased with him legislated is in order to prevent any unlawful happening whilst the man is away from his wife and vice versa and Allah knows best. 2. To prevent depression or even cure depression and to attain happiness one should recite the Quran daily at a set time, preferably in the morning at the

time of Fajr or after the Sun has risen high. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) said, “Indeed he who does not have anything from the Quran inside his body is like an empty house.” Those who do not recite the Quran or do not know anything from the Quran off by heart are vulnerable to spiritual illnesses such as depression. The more a person recites the Quran or memorises it, the more happier and content he/she will feel. The body becomes enlightened and if Allah wills, the person will be protected from all spiritual and virtual illnesses. The Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) also said, “Indeed these hearts rust in the same way as metal does when it comes in contact with water. It was said, ‘O Messenger of Allah (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) ! And what is the cure for it?’ He, peace and blessings be upon him said: ‘To frequently remember death and to recite the Quran.’” This tradition advises us to remember death and recite the Quran in order to fuel and give life to one’s heart and keep it clean and content. The Quran is a very powerful cure for many illnesses and diseases and must not be forsaken. The household in which the residents recite the Quran daily will see many blessings and much happiness in their lives and the household will be protected from all types of evil. Reciting Salawaat upon our Master and Saviour of Mankind Muhammed (Sallallhu Alaihi Wasslam) and reciting the Qaseedah Al-Burdah of Imam Sharf Al-Deen Al-Buseri AlMisri is also very beneficial in curing depression and attaining happiness in life and Allah knows best. “Indeed these hearts rust in the same way as metal does when it comes in contact with water. It was said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! And what is the cure for it?’ He, peace and blessings be upon him said: ‘To frequently remember death and to recite the Quran.’

Wa Alaykum Al-Salam As per the information provided in the question, all three talaaq have occured and it is compulsory upon both to stay away from each other to protect themselves from ‘haraam’ as they are not lawfully husband and wife anymore. The second and third talaaq that the husband has given two months after the first talaaq are definitely considered as two separate talaaq even if the husband says that the third time he said the words with his wife’s name, his intention was to provide a repetition of the second talaaq. This excuse or reason is not considered by law as the words he has used are sareeh (clear) and in sareeh this excuse is not valid. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse: 230, Allah has said, nd if he divorced her (the third time), then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has intercourse with another husband. Then if he (the

Q>

Assalaamu alaikum Are we allowed to dispose of old Islamic literature especially old worn-out Quraanic texts, Hadith texts, books of scholars, Islamic articles in public newspapers, and what is the correct method of disposal? Jazakallah Khairan <Wa Alaykum Al-Salam,

A

The correct method of disposal is burying in a safe place. Many people burn old worn-out Qur’ans and other Islamic books, which is most definitely not the respectful and correct manner of disposal. Rather, one should bury the Qur’an and other Islamic texts in a place where people will not step on it.

It is stated in Fatawa Ridawiyyah: “It is not permissible to burn the Qur’an, as stipulated in al-Durr alMukhtar. Instead, it should be buried in a safe place where people will not step on it.” [Fatawa Ridawiyyah 23:376] It is stated in al-Fatawa alHindiyyah: “If the Qur’an becomes old and unravelled, and no longer in a state that one can recite from it, and there is also a risk of its pages becoming detached and thus lost, then it should be draped in a clean cloth and buried in a safe place. When burying it, a Lahd (side pocket in the grave) should be made, so that no soil falls on it. One can also place a plank over it creating a roof and then throw in the soil, so that the soil does not fall on it. If the Qur’an becomes worn-out, it should not be burned.” [Bahar e Shari’ah with reference to al-Fatawa al-Hindiyyah 5:323].And Allah knows best.
