would no longer face a patchwork of local laws that was impossible to keep up with. It was also passed to protect Floridians from local lawmakers who do not respect the citizens’ right to bear arms.

The Florida Legislature never imagined that local leaders would thumb their noses at Tallahassee and intentionally break the law despite clear statute and appellate court decisions. But they have for the past 24 years and the patchwork continued.
Florida Cities and Counties Continue to Break State Law JUL 21, 2011 04:57P.M.
In 2010, Florida Carry, Inc. Co-Executive Director Richard Nascak and a cadre of volunteers organized on web forums and banded together in an grassroots effort to fix the problems at the local level. They contacted local governments and were shocked at the reactions they got. Local leaders were quite happy to make criminals of lawful gun owners because there was no penalty for politicians and bureaucrats breaking the state preemption law.
Florida Cities and Counties Knowingly Continue to Break State Law By Sean Caranna
“So, sue us!” was the general and sometimes literal response. Lee County resident and attorney Patrick Buckley did just that. He filed a lawsuit against his county’s park carry ban, knowing there was no provision to even recover his costs and fees should he win. Richard Nascak engaged State Rep. Paige Kreegel for help and the NRA got involved to draft legislation that would put teeth in the long-abused statute. Volusia County traded arguments for months with Florida Carry, Inc. Co-Executive Director Sean Caranna over its woodland and airport carry bans but finally backed down and repealed the preempted ordinances in March 2011 once it became clear that the Firearms Preemption Enforceability bill was on track to pass. Florida Firearms Preemption Violations March 2011 During the 2011 session, the legislature made it clear that they had had enough. On October 1st 2011, new penalties and a vehicle for recovery of attorney’s fees and costs goes in to effect. With about 70 days left, to act Florida counties, cities, and agencies are on notice. Florida Carry will hold local leaders accountable and finally clear up the patchwork of unlawful restrictions on the right to bear arms in Florida. About: Florida Carry is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to advancing the fundamental civil right of all Floridians to keep and bear arms for self defense as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I Section 8 of the Florida Constitution. Florida Carry, Inc. was organized by a group of Florida gun rights activists in order to better coordinate activities, effectively lobby the state legislature, and to provide a legal entity capable of filing suit to demand compliance with state and federal law. Florida Carry stands only to represent our members and the over 6 million gun owners of Florida. We are not beholden to any national organization’s agenda that may compromise that mission. Florida Carry works tirelessly toward repealing and striking down illconceived gun control laws that have been proven to provide safe havens to criminals and be deadly to law abiding citizens.

Savage Man Sentenced For Possessing Firearms and Explosives
“Weapons have become a commonly encountered and dangerous component utilized by drug traffickers to protect their illegal operations,” said Dan Moren, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis–St. Paul office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”). “In this case, a substantial cache of weapons – machine guns, machine gun components, explosives and chemicals used to produce explosives – were seized at the same location where Mr. Banks operated a large-scale indoor marijuana grow operation. Collaborative efforts with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) as well as our strong partnership with local law enforcement resulted in an investigation that ceased the growing of marijuana that would have made it to our streets, while also keeping numerous weapons and explosives from potentially being used to perpetrate violence.”

On June 8, 2010, a federal search warrant was executed at Banks’ residence. There, authorities seized additional bombs; chemicals used to manufacture explosives; 29 firearms, including seven suspected machine guns; components to manufacture more machine guns; and an indoor grow operation containing nearly 100 marijuana plants. This case was the result of an investigation by the St. Paul Police Department, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, the DEA, and the ATF. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven L. United States District Court Judge Paul A. Banks was charged on February 14, 2011, and pleaded guilty on March 24, 2011. In his plea agreement, Banks admitted that on January 29, 2010, he received a model AR-15 machine gun. He also admitted that on June 7, 2010, he distributed two destructive devices to Bruce Wayne Leathart, who was sentenced on November 24, 2010, to 27 months in federal prison on one count of illegal possession of a machine gun. they are saying, gun safety education is not the end goal for their patients, it is just an interim way to open up the controversial topic of gun ownership and push their own political agenda. If educating their patients about gun safety is a goal for pediatricians then why not stand behind gun safety programs in schools for all children?
Pediatricians And Anti-Gun Bias JUL 21, 2011 04:44P.M.
That would surely be a positive step towards saving lives and it does not invade anyone’s privacy.
Pediatricians And Anti-Gun Bias By Shari Spivack – NJ2AS Board Member
Of course, there is no lobby or political controversy surrounding regulation of swimming pools or the depth of water allowed in bathtubs or even where parents are storing cutlery or power tools in their homes. There also is no right granted to the people of this country in the US constitution to own any of these items, as there is for firearms in the Second Amendment. There are many household items that can be dangerous when children are not being given the proper supervision. In fact a recent study shows that accidents related to firearms in the home occur at extremely low rates compared to incidents like drowning, poisoning, and serious falls. To see long list of potentially hazardous household items, visit the Second Amendment Sisters website ( see below or http://www.2asisters.org/PhysicianAffidavit.pdf) for a nice affidavit you can ask your doctor to sign if questioned about gun ownership.
New Jersey Second Amendment Society New Jersey --(Ammoland.com)- Some Pediatricians are saying that when I bring my children in for a routine medical visit they need to question me about my personal property - specifically whether I have any guns in my home. According to the doctors they don’t want my child to become a statistic and my handgun is at the top of their list of dangerous items that they insist must be removed from my home in order to accomplish that goal.
It should also be noted that while the Florida law prohibits pediatricians from asking about guns in the home as a standard practice of care – it does not prohibit asking about guns when it is of a relevant nature to the medical care of the presenting patient. As a social worker, I understand this distinction and the doctors should too. If they feel a patient is at risk they are not tongue tied. If parents have a history of neglectful behavior or openly suicidal patients are residents of the home, then no one is saying questions can’t be asked.
The Governor of Florida passed a law this past June, making it illegal for doctors to question parents or children on the presence of firearms in the home as a standard of care. For example, have you started solid foods yet, does your baby sleep through the night and oh by the way, do you have any firearms in your home?
The non specific type of questioning can also have a negative effect on the ever developing doctor patient relationship. There have been cases of patients who were questioned by a doctor about gun ownership and refused to answer based on privacy. They have been told to leave the office (and billed for the visit). In order to practice good medical care, pediatricians need to have good reporting from parents on the physical state of their children. If parents feel they may be judged by their child’s doctor, they might not share all important medical information and this without question will have a direct effect on health care.
The American Academy of Pediatrics will drown you in statistics of people injured in gun related “incidents” which they use to point to how dangerous guns, particularly handguns, can be. However, a percentage of these statistics surely includes death or injury encountered by the very people who initiated these crimes and were fought off by their intended victims. And what about all the lives that have been saved by guns, children’s lives, due to the presence of a defensive gun in the home. The public will never hear about this because it is impossible to measure the positive effect of gun ownership. Even if it was possible, the media is not interested in reporting it for a variety of reasons. As it has been stated before, crime prevented is a statistic that does not exist. But just for a minute, consider how many children were spared kidnapping or torturous acts simply because their parents had the means to fight off an attacker and the willingness to do so.
I chose my pediatrician based on how effective I thought she would be when counseling me on medical issues. I will always be the primary advocate in receiving good medical care for my children and the doctor I choose is first and foremost a facilitator in this goal. I am not looking for a mentor or a friend or a teacher, a doctor is not all knowing and a good relationship with a family develops over time. If I want expert advice on storing firearms, I will go to an expert in this area (I happen to be a firearms instructor so on this one I am covered.) In fact, I respect a doctor more who knows his or her limitations when it comes to offering advice on topics they do not understand and who is willing to defer to a parent on issues of care that are well within the scope and ability of people who have chosen to raise children. I don’t want my attorney
Pediatricians are ignoring the long and positive history of gun ownership in this country (just visit the National Firearms Museum in Virginia for proof.) The reason is that it just does not fit their agenda, which is to have handguns banned. This goal has in the past been openly stated on the AAP website (American Association of Pediatricians). Despite what

organization comprised of over 43,000 college students, faculty members, parents, and concerned citizens who support the right of concealed handgun license holders to carry concealed handguns on college campuses. Key conference speakers include: In addition to myself, John Lott, author of More Guns, Less Crime, Professors Joyce Lee Malcolm, Bob Cottrol and Nelson Lund, Attorney Alan Gura who won two Second Amendment Supreme Court cases and key legislators from Texas, Idaho and Wisconsin.
After working in an inner city hospital and counseling families with children at risk, I can say with certainty that the guns that were present in the homes of these children would not have been discovered through the routine questioning pediatricians are now advocating. These guns were brought into children’s homes by boyfriends and simply left there until they were brought to the hospital by the mothers. These illegal guns will not disappear even if the goal of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to remove handguns from the homes of every law abiding citizen. No one is arguing against saving the lives of innocent children or doing everything in our power to see our youth reach adulthood. But the doctors aren’t fooling anyone here. Routine questioning of parents about guns stored in the home is (at minimum) not the answer. There is far more work to be done to save the next generation and it serves no purpose for pediatricians to alienate the very people who can be a true partner.

Wisconsin Carry Files Second Lawsuit In ‘Madison 5′ Culvers Incident
As these WCI members left the restaurant, they were accosted by eight(8) City of Madison police officers, who demanded that they produce identification, and threatened that if they did not do so, they would be arrested. From the time that these WCI members arrived at the restaurant up to and including the time that the police officers confronted them and demanded that they produce identification or face arrest, none of the WCI members violated any law, nor were they involved in any violent, abusive, indecent, profane, boisterous, unreasonably loud or otherwise disorderly conduct, nor did they through their conduct cause or provoke any disturbance.
JUL 21, 2011 11:33A.M. Wisconsin Carry Files Second Lawsuit In ‘Madison 5′ Culvers Incident
Wisconsin law does not allow officers to arrest for merely refusing to provide ID. 2 days later, Madison Police admitted the error in arresting and charging our members with obstruction, rescinded those tickets and instead, despite there being no disturbance, and no laws broken, issued disorderly conduct charges to all 5 of our members. Wisconsin Carry filed our first federal lawsuit against the Madison Police Department 10 days after the original incident to challenge the Madison Police Departments unconstitutional policy of arresting law-abiding open-carriers if a call/complaint comes in. That lawsuit remains in front of the Federal Court in Madison. This second lawsuit is being filed as the disorderly conduct charges against the Madison 5 were dropped this past spring. In this lawsuit WCI seeks damages on behalf of the Madison 5 for the unlawful detainment/arrest of our members including legal costs associated with preparing for the defense of the unlawfully issued disorderly conduct citations.
Wisconsin Carry Wisconsin --(Ammoland.com)- To Recap: On Saturday, September 18, 2010, five (5) members of WCI met for dinner at a Culvers Restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin.
A copy of this lawsuit can be viewed here: Each of these individuals was openly carrying a handgun when they arrived at the restaurant, entered the restaurant and ordered and ate their meals.

At or about the time that the WCI members finished their meal and left the restaurant, a woman in her car observed them openly carrying handguns and called 911 to report it to the City of Madison Police Department. The 911 caller informed the dispatcher that she didn’t know if it was an emergency, the men were doing nothing wrong and appeared totally relaxed, weren’t threatening anyone and the restaurant was full of people but they each had sidearms and she didn’t know if that was legal.
Carry On, Nik Clark Chairman – Wisconsin Carry, Inc. P.O. Box 270403 Milwaukee, WI 53227 nik@wisconsincarry.org
Upon being informed by the 911 dispatcher that open-carry is legal the woman stated “then there is no problem and its not an emergency”. The dispatcher then suggests that if the woman is concerned or disturbed then it becomes a problem and the woman says “no they weren’t threatening anybody or acting threatening”. When the dispatcher informs the caller they are sending officers she says “well I feel bad then because they weren’t doing anything wrong”

Often, this leads into unintended consequences where a concealed handgun licensee trying to “promptly inform” the officer that they’re armed is shouted down, ordered to shut up, or told to look away from the officer’s direction. The seventeen minutes of dash camera footage we are now able to show you will likely horrify you. In this case the driver remains in his vehicle while the officer, in what appears to be an illegal search at first glance, enters the rear of the vehicle. The importation ban applies to hunters heading to: Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland (only from CWD containment area), Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York (Oneida and Madison counties), North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia (only from CWD containment area), West Virginia (only from the CWD containment area), Wisconsin and Wyoming; as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Under the emergency authority, if the executive director concludes the spread of CWD poses a threat within or adjacent to this Commonwealth, he will have the emergency authority to: prohibit the importation of high-risk cervid parts from areas that are known to harbor CWD; and define and designate Disease Management Areas (DMAs) in this Commonwealth.

Once a DMA is designated, the executive director will be able to use his emergency authority to take several actions, including: allowing the taking of cervids without regard to established seasons and bag limits and methods of take; requiring mandatory checking of hunter-killed cervids; prohibiting the removal of high-risk cervid parts; prohibiting the rehabilitation of cervids; prohibiting the use, collection, possession and exportation of cervid urine-based attractants; prohibiting the feeding of cervids; and prohibiting any new permits to possess or transport live cervids.

First identified in 1967, CWD is a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) that affects cervids, including all species of deer, elk and moose. It is a progressive and always fatal disease of the nervous system. Scientists theorize CWD is caused by an agent called a prion that is capable of transforming normal brain proteins into an abnormal form, in turn causing the death of brain cells. Prions are present in and shed into the environment by infected animals through blood, urine, saliva and tissue of the central nervous system.
Pennsylvania Board Adopts Resolution To Support Sunday Hunting
There currently is no practical way to test live animals for CWD, nor is there a vaccine. Clinical signs include poor posture, lowered head and ears, uncoordinated movement, rough-hair coat, weight loss, increased thirst, excessive drooling, and, ultimately, death. There is currently no scientific evidence that CWD has or can spread to humans, either through contact with infected animals or by eating meat of infected animals. The Center for Disease Control has investigated any connection between CWD and the human forms of TSEs and stated “the risk of infection with the CWD agent among hunters is extremely small, if it exists at all” and “it is extremely unlikely that CWD would be a foodborne hazard.”

Rolla, MO --(Ammoland.com)- Triple Aught Design’s (TAD) Valkyrie Hoodie LT will be a favorite for many women. This hoodie is functional, durable, and feminine … three words that can rarely be used in the same sentence.

The Valkyrie Hoodie LT is fitted to nicely contour a women’s body. It was designed to eliminate excess bulk, which can impede certain activities. The fit of this hoodie makes it perfect for many outdoor activities. I found this jacket to be especially suited for use while shooting firearms. The slender silhouette and short length allows the user to tuck it in, thereby eliminating obstructions around and near the holster and magazine pouches. This hoodie is a great outer layer for cool days. I found that I was most comfortable in the Valkyrie when temperatures were in the 50’s and 60’s.

For temperatures cooler than 50 degrees, however, I would recommend coupling this with an outer shell. The Valkyrie Hoodie LT offers several desirable features, including; six pockets, discreetly placed underarm vents, and thumb and headphone slots. The Valkyrie holds up to machine washing (I did not dry it in the dryer). I did not note any dramatic changes in fit, performance, or appearance. Triple Aught Design classifies this hoodie as performance gear. It definitely fits into that category, but I confess that I find myself wearing it at times when I am not ‘performing’ at all. I wear it lounging around my house, back and forth to work, and when I run errands. This is one of the most comfortable articles of clothing I own. My only ‘gripe’ to Triple Aught Design is that black is the only color option. Black is a solid and safe color, but I find myself constantly wondering why men get more (and generally better) color options than women. I applaud TAD for designing a feminine fitting jacket, but I have one question, how ‘bout some OD green for the girls?
