Professional Work Khalifa House Historical Museum *Exhibition Design by Studio Urban
About the Project Khalifa House Museum is a historical museum in Omdurman that documents the Mahdist Rule preceding the British colonization of Sudan. The Khalifa House itself was built between 1887 and 1888 as a home and an administration building of the Mahdi State. It became a museum during the British colonization of Sudan. Bramble was the director of Omdurman municipality from 1926 until 1934. His wife, Daisy Bramble, was interested in antiquities and heritage. She collected and organized the historical exhibits that had been in the Khalifa’s House and Bait Alamana since 1898 and then opened the Khalifa’s House as a Museum in 1928. The project works on renovating the museum and redesigning the permanent exhibit. Under the supervision of Mallinson Architects.
