Amnesty International Aotearoa NZ

Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of more than 3 million supporters, members and activists in more than 150 countries and territories who campaign to protect human rights. We have a vision of a world where every person enjoys all the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion and are funded mainly by our membership and public donations. Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand is one of 150 nationally organised sections or structures that make up the global Amnesty movement. The very first Amnesty group in New Zealand was formed in Wellington in 1965, making us one of the oldest sections in the Amnesty network. We now boast over 10,000 individuals and groups who all play an active part in defending human rights.
