HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR PERFECT BRA?

Beautiful lingerie makes you feel special, and that shouldn’t change just because you’ve had breast surgery. However we know that your comfort is very important too. Amoena’s bras are just like the bras you wore before surgery, but they have some important features to ensure that, as well as being pretty, they’re a pleasure to wear.

Shoulder straps: Our comfy, adjustable straps support your breast form without putting any strain on the shoulders. Some Amoena styles have wider, padded straps for additional comfort and support. Remember to adjust your shoulder straps regularly to ensure that they are not too loose.

Cups: Cut to closely follow the shape of a breast form to ensure a perfect fit. Elasticated edges give extra security. Your breast(s) or breast form(s) should fit comfortably into the cup of the bra, with no bulge or ridge at the top. Any ‘overflow’ at the top or sides means you need to go up a cup size.

Wider underband: Provides support and stability, to ensure your breast form stays securely in place.

Variable fastening: One–four hooks, depending on the size, ensure you have just the right amount of support.

Gentle underwiring: Our underwired bras are specially designed to follow the curve of your breast, providing gentle support without putting pressure on the scar area.

Pockets: Unless otherwise stated, all the bras in our range have discreet, bilateral pockets. These will hold your breast form securely in place – so it won’t slip out or show over the top of the cup, giving you additional peace of mind. Made from a very fine fabric which is shaped to mould perfectly into the cup of the bra, bilateral pockets give you more choice, because they enable our bras to be worn by all women –whether you need a bilateral, left, right or a non-pocketed bra.

As well as being fashionable, sleek and stylish, Amoena’s swimwear is designed to hold your breast form (or forms) securely and discreetly. With our styles, the little hidden extras ensure that, as well as looking fabulous, you feel confident and comfortable too.

Cup sizing: Dress sizes aren’t always enough when choosing swimwear. Many of our styles come in different cup sizes –some are available in a B or C fitting, with a smaller selection offered in A, D and DD fittings too.

Pockets: Designed to make sure that no-one will see your prosthesis, our multi-option pockets are accessible from both the top and the side, making them easier to use and ensuring a great fit with your breast form.

AMOENA WAVE SEAM THE SECRETLY SUPPORTIVE UNDERBUST SEAM

Enjoy the comfort and invisible support of the Amoena Wave Seam, our innovative curved seam on the underbust band. This special curved seam provides additional support for your breast form or shaper, preventing it from moving outwards or sideways. Integrated into our swimwear and tops you can feel completely secure both in and out of the water.

Bust shaping: An elasticated underband and integral bra hold your breast form closely against your body, so there’s no need to worry about it slipping down or falling forward, even in a wet swimsuit! The integral soft cups combine support and gentle bust shaping for a completely natural look.

Underarm: Whether you want to camouflage high scarring or just have that extra bit of security, the slightly higher cut of our swimwear under the arms provides peace of mind without excessive coverage. Standard legline: Most of our swimwear has a standard legline – not too high or too low, and flattering for all ages and figures. without excessive coverage.

Unless otherwise stated, the back of each swimsuit is 1–2 inches below your bra line, for comfort and security.

MEASURING GUIDE

It is important to measure yourself each time you are considering purchasing a new bra. Remember, your bra size can change due to age, diet or exercise. To determine your bra size, follow the instructions shown below.

A Band size (underbust)

First measure from the middle of your chest, underneath the remaining breast to the centre of your spine (diagram A). Double this measurement to get your band size (this is the ‘underbust’ measurement shown on the chart below).

BRA SIZE

B Cup size (overbust)

Now measure from the middle of your chest to the centre of your spine, but this time over the fullest part of your remaining breast (diagram B). Double this figure to get your overbust measurement.

C Bra size

Use the chart below to find your correct bra size.

Example

A Band size

Measurement is 14½ inches.

14½ × 2 = 29 inches (underbust)

B Cup size

Measurement equals 17½ inches.

17½ × 2 = 35 (overbust)

C Bra size

29 inches underbust and 35 inches overbust, gives a bra size of 34B

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BREAST FORM

CUP FULLNESS

First select the cup fullness you require. Is your remaining breast (1) shallow, (2) average or (3) full?

SHAPE

Then select the shape –(s) symmetrical, (a) asymmetrical, or (e) extra. Generally a symmetrical shape is best following a standard or simple mastectomy, and an asymmetrical breast form is best if you have had lymph nodes or tissue removed from under your arm.

Directions

• Leave the M3 at junction 13.

• Take the A335 Leigh Road (coming from either direction this is a left turn off the slip road); this will be signposted Chandlers Ford.

• Continue straight along the A335 for approximately half a mile until you reach a T-junction with traffic lights (keep to the right-hand lane).

• Turn right on to the B3043 Bournemouth Road; at the next set of traffic lights turn left into School Lane (signposted Chandlers Ford Industrial Estate).

• Continue along School Lane for approximately half a mile, then turn left into Eagle Close.

• Follow Eagle Close until it bends sharply to the left and you will see the Amoena entrance on your left.

Opening times and closing dates

Our shop is open on weekday mornings from 9.30am to 12.00noon. No appointment required.

Fittings are available on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Appointments are for 1 hour and must be booked in advance.

Right to exchange: It is our usual policy to allow items to be returned within 14 days. However, because Contact is adhered directly to the body, we are unable to offer this service for reasons of health and hygiene. As a refund is not possible, it is essential to ensure the correct size breast form is ordered. If you are unsure of the size required we would recommend that you take advantage of our sample fitting service. Three month trial period (Contact breast forms only): Amoena is pleased to offer you a three month trial period with your first Contact breast form. If, after trying Contact, you find it unsuitable or are dissatisfied with it for any reason, it can be exchanged for an alternative Amoena breast form of your choice within three months from the date of purchase. The conditions are as follows: (1) To qualify for exchange, the Contact must be returned within three months from the date of purchase. (2) If you return your Contact to us, it will be exchanged for an alternative Amoena breast form of your choice. You will not be able to exchange your Contact for another Contact breast form. (3) No refunds or part refunds will be given. (4) The three month trial period is only applicable for your first Contact breast form. (5) Although the Contact breast form is guaranteed for three years against manufacturing faults, we are unable to give any guarantee period for the Contact adhesive surface. This does not affect your statutory rights.
