History was made when the citizens of Earle, Arkansas elected 18 year old Jaylen Smith to be the next mayor of their city. Now Mayor Jaylen Smith is not only the youngest melanated mayor in history but the youngest Mayor in American history.

Mayor Smith graduated from Earle High School in May of 2022. When asked what inspired him to run for mayor he stated that it was his involved in student government that made him decide to run and his love of his community. Even though as a young child he knew he wanted to be mayor. As he got older he prayed on it and was lead to run in his senior year. With his family’s blessing and support, the support of his graduating class and several previous graduating classes people in the community both young and not so young supporting him and his campaign he hit the ground running.
