COMMERCIAL CHAMBER OF JEDDAH, JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA
SPINE Architecture and Engineering, and Nawaf Attar Architectural Consultants, 2012 (LP1-2). The proposal is an individual work and my responsibilities included concept design, 3D-modelling, and presentation. It was submitted in a limited competition for designing an extension to the existing commercial chamber.

The new building was designed as a modern light house with smooth lines. It contrasts the rigid lines and form of the existing building. The two buildings were bound together with an elevated link and an oriental pattern covering both.
Water elements, green areas, and shades from flying slabs and the elevated link sooth the high weather temperature and improve the walking experience. The oriental pattern partially shades the facades and decrease solar radiation.
14 COMMERCIAL CHAMBER OF MECCA, MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA SPINE Architecture and Engineering, and Nawaf Attar Architectural Consultants, 2011 (LP1-2) The proposal is an individual work and my responsibilities included concept design, 3D-modelling, and presentation.
The building aimed to deliver an iconic form with a modern from and clear lines combined with a traditional tinge. The latter was made by using an oriental pattern that convers parts of the faรงades. Beside its aesthetics it a passive measure to decrease energy consumption by decreasing the external openings and solar radiation. Moreover, Multiple measures were adopted to naturally sooth the high weather temperature and assure good natural lighting including internal courts, floor plates with small depths, water elements, and shaded facades.

PV panels were used on the roof to generate a part of energy needed by the building. A semi-shaded roof garden was provided to increase the amiability of building to its users and it works with the white roof in decreasing the heat island effect.
No surface parking spaces were provided in front of the building and were substituted by green areas to improve walkability. A few number of surface parking spaces were provided at the back of the building, in addition to an underground parking.

The site shape was irregular with an area of 225 sq meters. The building is located in one of the most expensive areas in the world where a one sq meter of land can cost up to 400,000 $ (in the vicinity of Grand Mosque in Mecca). Accordingly, every sq centimeter counted and had to be leveraged while keeping wasted areas had to be minimum. The final typical floor plan accommodated eight rooms per floor.
