between human and animal A SOCIAL OASIS, Mumbai, India
B.Arch Design Dissertation
manifesto This thesis explores a design integration of a design welfare system surviving in an urban enviornment, the Mumbai city. The interaction between the human and animal being of core importance through the design process. the design strives to integrate the landscape with the built form. The result of this thesis show the great possibilities that is inherent in an animal rescue shelter design and stress that the potential for a new habitat design should be seen as a challenge whose resolutions should present distinct experience for visitors that educate and fascinate as well as offer an extra ordinary home for its animal residents.

between human and animal A SOCIAL OASIS, Mumbai, India
concept programme The design has 2 manners of approach; both explore animal welfare systems within the city. One in the macro scale, whereas the other in the micro scale.
In order to reinforce the idea of interaction through relationship growth, the radial pattern became a design organizer for the project. Based on many objects in nature, the radial pattern organizes surrounding space around a central core. I believe this provides an oppurtunity that is based on transparency and integration of both inside and outside.
The animal kiosk (10 sq.mts.): spread around various different localities of the city acting as the controlling median of the animal welfare system. 1. Two-three individuals taking care of their localities stray. 2. A small tree and few plantations. 3. A provision of water fountain for animals. 4. Just bare minimum medical utilities and first aid. The mother institution (5000 sq. mts.):just one in the city, which pulls all the animals from various animal kiosks throughout the city into this. 1. proper veterinary healthcare services with speciality referral and equine/large animal facility. 2. Adoption fair area. 3. Boarding for stray animals got here from various animal kiosks spread throughout around in the city. 4. Teaching + Training. 5. Animal assisted therapy sessions.

Design Dissertation TRANSFORMING MORBI, from harsh industrial inheritance to a livable urban fabric AIM The aim or the intent of this research is to identify the potential of urban planning ideologies being retrofitted in the existing industrial town fabric of Morbi, for the overall enhancement of the physical character of town through urban design solutions, for the people of Morbi. OBJECTIVES 1. To visualize the city in terms of its urban fabric which will further help develop an understanding on the spatial distribution of industries and residential area. (develop a correlation) 2. To register certain Morbi street art characteristics, which can later be seen as a potential when designing. 3. To evaluate and understand the impact of the ceramic industries on the enviornment quality of the city, which will be corelated with residential areas and help in identifing the most affected. Therefore this will enable one to identify potential intervention areas. 4. To explore possibilies of greening the city through Connected Open Space Systems for industrial cities and think of retrofitting the same as a design strategy.
SITE STUDY METHODOLOGY Study
Why
Questionnaire survey for the people of Morbi.
To understand what problems are faced by the people of Morbi and what they need in the city.
Study the natural factors of Morbi such as Land physiography, metreology and living ecology.
Will help understand the natural forces that govern the city.
Study the layout and the spread of the city along with land and road classification.
As the land of the city lends to it an identity, the road helps in understand the system and networking of the city.
Create typological street sections and elevations.
This will help in understanding the transition of imagebility of the city.
RESEARCH STUDY METHODOLOGY Study
Findings
Figure out and understand enviornmental concerns involved in ceramic industries.
Air Pollution is a major concern. Other waste from ceramic industries get treated.
Look for cases of cities that have tried to tackle air pollution problem or may be facing air pollution problem.
The idea of ventilation corridors prove to be efficient for a very huge scale city, greening the city is an option that one can consider.
Seek if planting trees can solve the air pollution problem prevailing in industrial cities around the world.
Certain species of trees do help in solving particulate matter pollution problem of cities.
Seek Urban Planning concepts and explore the idea of Connected Open Space systems as an approach to cater to the problem faced in Morbi and relate it with ECOLOGICAL URBANISM.
Idea of green streets can be implemented for the city as streets impinge upon urban life and run upto the extents of the city.
After above studies will be carried out, certain stretches of streets will be indetified in the city to act as pilot design projects.
Study the plan and sections through the identified street understanding plot boundarys, edge conditions and potential area for public or private landscape enhancement.
This will help in proposing an appropriate design for the acute problems faced by the city.

When we look back at the history of water as a landscape element, the temporality of it is what remains constant as a feature throughout. It is this temporality of water that lends it a dynamic nature which has transcended down through the generations. Only difference is earlier water was used as a luxurious component defining royalty and influence, but nowadays use of water in landscape is made more judiciously or rather it should be. Millions of population of society depends on water, from industries to small households. And thanks to urbanization large agricultural fields and wetlands will be blanketed by dices of urbanity, adding effluence into the landscape. This is a situation that is going arise in every nook and corner of developing countries like ours. So what can be done to revive the temporality of water in such cases, and also most importantly revive the purity of it?
INTERESTS
The image here is depicting a generic context which can exist anywhere in the world, wherein there is urbanization in-filtering into the agricultural settings and debarring the natural purity of the landscape and also minimizing lands potential for cultivation. It is basically screaming for concern needed towards water,a resource that we humans abuse very notoriously.
