SENIOR CENTER AND INDEPENDENT LIVING : LOCATION PROJECT TYPE : : STUDIO PROFESSOR : : TEAMMATE
Bronzeville, Illinois Mid-rise Residentional 4th semester, 2nd year Christina Bollo Phil Heitter
DESIGN BRIEF The general idea of this project is to provide an opportunity for the elderly in Bronzeville to age in place, to continue to live in the same area that they have lived in. The core concepts focus on community and quality of life for the residents and visitors of the building. We wanted to promote a high quality of life through the promotion of physical and mental health, the opportunities for them to express their autonomy and independence, and to foster a meaningful sense of community through social interactions.

3rd - 5th Floor Plan Each apartment is comprised of 2 or three CLT modules depending on if it is one bedroom or two bedroom. The modules are prefabricated and brought to the site and assembled on site. There are two different types of modules. The first is referred to as the living module that contains a full kitchen, small dining area and a living room. The living module is then connected to the sleeping module, which contains the bedroom, bathroom, laundry closet, HVAC closet and a private balcony.
30
31
Module connection Because the apartments are prefabricated modules, this allows for some larger than average spaces. Prefabrication allows the unit to be finished in materials that are low cost but are high quality due to the nature of prefabrication and materials that make the aparment homelike. The modularity also relates to a quicker construction time and has lower waste than other traditional building types which aids in our sustainability goals.

: : : :
Bangalore, Karnataka Institutional and residential 10th semester, 5th year Vishwas Gupta
DESIGN BRIEF The concept involves designing the site on a zoning level according to the different sensory zones. The project also included designing the entire centre in detail. The site has different zones all based on aspects which are introduced for autism friendly design such as high and low sensory zones.
48
STEP 1: Zoning according to different Sensitivity Zones for children on the spectrum.
STEP 3: Zones are alloted and a rough building massing is produced.
STEP 2: The site is divided according to various parameters like buffer zones, noise reduction and wet soil construction.
STEP 4: Different functions are then provided within the buildings according to the various parameters.

MASS HOUSING LOCATION : PROJECT TYPE : STUDIO : PROFESSOR :
Tilaknagar,Mumbai Residential 7th semester, 4th year Sanjiv Dongre
DESIGN BRIEF The residential project is a redevelopment project designed for various income groups. The concept of the project is that recreational spaces fabricate a balance between the built and unbuilt spaces while also creating a habitable and comfortable living space for people. The design solves problems with shadows, recreational spaces and parking areas.
56
Shadow of the buildings is cast in a manner that keeps the recreational area and other buildings shaded.
Recreational spaces are created to increase the interaction between all society members.
Parking spaces are provided next to the building to reduce travel time to the parking lot.
Balance is generated between built and non-built spaces.
