ASIAN MEDICAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION INDONESIA
FOREWORD Regional Chairperson Ananta Siddhi Prawara
“
Dear People of Tomorrow, August 20th 1996, AMSA-Indonesia was formed in Yogyakarta. It became a part of AMSA International which had been formed first in 1985 by Shigeru Suganami, MD and colleagues with the dedication aimed for the sake of humanity. Now, at the age of 20, with 30 active local universities and 1 observer university, AMSA-Indonesia is still growing quantitatively and qualitatively in order to take part in improving the nation’s health. In our daily activities, AMSA-Indonesia strongly upheld three philosopies in executing each and every work programs. The three philosopies are knowledge, action and friendship. This year, AMSA-Indonesia carries vision and mission which focused on the development of our organization both in developing the members and in performing community empowerment. We believe that by doing what we can do now as medical students, we are able to bring positive and meaningful impact to others. Up until now, AMSA-Indonesia has developed various connections in conducting its activities, either with the governmental organizations (GOs) or the non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
AMSA-Indonesia has worked together with Kementerian Kesehatan in a project of creating a booklet which intended for health promotion and prevention in the community. SOS Children Village, YPKAI and Yayasan IBU (IBU Foundation) are three out of many NGOs that have collaborated with AMSA-Indonesia. While for the students organizations, we have collaborated with CIMSA, ISMKI, ALSA and AISEC. AMSA-Indonesia are always open for collaboration with parties that have the same vision in developing the quality of the members so that one day AMSA-Indonesia members will become great doctors, and enhancing community empowerment through social projects in order to improve our nation’s health. Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much” We hope that this booklet will provide the information needed regarding to AMSAIndonesia. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us through the contacts stated in this booklet. Thank you!
