With its historic character and beautiful courtyards located in the heart of the city, the Amsterdam Museum is a unique venue for any reception. Whether it’s a celebratory occasion, a meeting or a tailor-made museum package, the possibilities offered by the Amsterdam Museum are end less. Catering is provided by Vermaat, an experienced firm that is also responsible for the catering at the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and other major city attractions. The history of the building Back in medieval times, the group of buildings between Kalverstraat and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, which today houses the Amsterdam Museum, was originally the St Lucien Convent. In 1579 it became an orphanage, and for centuries many of Amsterdam’s children lived, played and learned there. In 1975 it became the Amsterdam Museum. Every year hundreds of thousands of visitors from the Netherlands and abroad enjoy the unique location and successful exhibitions. Venue hire Various rooms in the building are available for hire, each with its own atmosphere and potential facilities. You can also make your day complete by visiting the museum with your guests. Every conceivable facility can be provided for your reception, and the Mokum Museum Café offers a first-rate catering service.

Portrait Gallery of the Golden Age in the Hermitage Amsterdam For the first time, thirty huge 17th-century group portraits from the collections of the Amsterdam Museum and the Rijksmuseum have been brought together in the Hermitage Amsterdam. These ‘brothers and sisters’ of the Night Watch are unique and rarely on view because of their large size. Together, they illustrate the story of collective citizenship that is so typical of the Netherlands. They hold up a mirror to the Dutch, as it were – for the relations between people at that time still underlie the norms and manners of today. If you want to know why the Dutch attach so much importance to freedom and equality, you’ll find a life-sized answer on the walls of the Hermitage Amsterdam. Dining in the Portrait Gallery of the Golden Age Dine eye-to-eye with the great citizens of 17th-century Amsterdam. Dozens of huge group portraits from the Golden Age form a spectacular backdrop to any event. Other venue hire possibilities The Hermitage Amsterdam offers a range of unique rooms for lectures, receptions, dinners, conferences and meetings. The catering is provided by Restaurant Neva.

About the Cromhouthuis In one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful canal-side houses, you can make the acquaintance of the Cromhout family. For almost two centuries, this family lived in four majestic houses on the fashionable Herengracht canal. Today their houses are just as impressive and beautiful as they were in the Golden Age. The rooms have been designed and decorated in a flamboyant, contemporary style by the Wunderkammer stylists’ collective. Venue hire The great variety of available rooms in the Cromhouthuis offers endless possibilities: from a dinner for two to receptions for 100 people. The historic rooms can be equipped with all kinds of modern facilities, making every meeting a success. What’s more, the museum is an official wedding location. Catering, staff and furnishings can be provided by the museum on request. The Large Salon With its splendid painted ceiling, the Large Salon is the high point and heart of the museum. The decorations on the ceiling were commissioned by the Cromhout family in 1718 and painted by Jacob de Wit especially for this impressive salon. This room is suitable for receptions, meetings, lectures, concerts and dinners. It offers a lovely view on to the garden and can be hired in combination with the adjacent Antechamber.

The Attic Church 100
Museum of Our Lord in the Attic Hidden in the heart of Amsterdam’s city centre is a small marvel: the Museum of Our Lord in the Attic. The visitor makes a journey of discovery through this unusually well-preserved canal-side house from the Golden Age. Narrow corridors and stairs open on to living rooms and kitchens furnished in historical style, and end up in what is literally the museum’s high point: a complete church in the attic. Venue hire The Museum of Our Lord in the Attic is a wonderful setting for a wedding, lecture, guided tour or meeting. The entrance building and the museum provide a unique backdrop to every reception. We are always pleased to discuss tailor-made options to make your day a great success. The Attic Church Jan Hartman, a Catholic, was such a successful entrepreneur that on 10 May 1661 he was able to buy a house on Oudezijds Voorburgwal and two adjacent alley houses. He immediately embarked upon a full-scale renovation of the buildings. He joined the attics of the three houses in order to build a private Catholic church. This is the church that gives the museum its name: Our Lord in the Attic.
