Connecting as a native AMX device to the AMX NetLinx NI4100 master controller located in the theatre’s control room,
We chose AMX’s 20” Modero X Series wide-aspect touchpanel specifically to facilitate system control by two technicians during live events. Now, for example, one technician can be switching sources on the matrix interface while another simultaneously operates camera controls while viewing a video preview, all on the one touchpanel.
this innovative application provides real-time, touch control of automation functions including the AV systems, lighting, blinds and room temperature. “We have used AMX control systems at the Royal Society of Medicine’s One Wimpole Street home since our 2003 lecture theatre upgrades. With our new Wimpole Lecture Theatre AV installation, AMX were once again the obvious choice after 10 years of reliability and good customer service,” explains Kevin McLoughlin, Audio Visual Manager, One Wimpole Street. The theatre’s dedicated control room boasts the very latest in touchpanel technology; AMX’s impressive 20” Modero X Series panel. With its edge-to-edge projected capacitive glass display and unrivalled panorama, this stunning interface offers One Wimpole Street’s in-house technicians more pixel real-estate than traditional touchpanel designs. Its unique ‘control surface’ gives them the space to perform multiple tasks, simultaneously. For example, they can dedicate one space on the control surface for previewing video and a second space for device control, all while having full access to the lecture theatre’s room settings and more. “AVM Impact, our chosen integrator, was set the challenging task of creating a bespoke interface for the new panoramic panel. Working with our in-house AV team they created a GUI that suits the way our technicians run live events and that is something we will now copy over to our 300 seat Guy Whittle Auditorium when it is upgraded in the summer.” said Kevin McLoughlin. The brain behind One Wimpole Street’s entire automation solution is provided by the rack-mounted AMX NI-4100

controller which offers the ability to integrate the largest number of devices in the NI Series controller range. Perfect for this technology-driven environment, the NI-4100 allows for the complete integration, management and control of the lecture theatre’s disparate devices and operating platforms which include the Christie HD10K-M3 Projector, Sennheiser 300 G3 Series radio mics, Soundcraft Si Compact16 audio mixing desk, Datavideo PTZ-100 cameras x 4 and Blackmagic Hyperdeck video recorders, and much more. So, with its centralised control and management functionality and multi-task touchpanel capability, this is an AMX solution of truly panoramic proportions and one which will certainly
