CORPORATE THE IZB – WHERE RESEARCH MEETS INNOVATION

The 7th floor club is a communications hub for board members, CEOs and visiting and resident professors

Seamlessly integrated into the very fabric of this striking building, state-of-the-art AMX technology successfully automates all the electronics and content needed for world-class corporate communication, without compromising either the clean lines or architectural integrity. An all-in-one controller, AV switcher, scaler, analogue to digital signal converter, twisted pair transmitter, amplifier and professional grade audio processor, the Enova DVX-3155HD presentation switcher sits at the heart of the system. Replacing the need for numerous individual components and eliminating the integration challenges that accompany them, this compact solution also successfully liberates the internal space from the constraints of accommodating multiple rack-mounted units.

One of the top ten biotechnology centres in the world, the Martinsried Campus is the place where scientific and clinical research meets teaching and technological innovation, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the IZB’s (Innovation Center for Biotechnology‘s) new “CAMPUS AT HOME” complex. The 28 metre high building was designed by architects “Stark” from Munich. The building consists of a restaurant, 7th floor faculty club and a hotel with 42 rooms for visiting scientists from all over the world, this facility promises to be the architectural and communications heart of this vast, 25,000 sq.m estate. Commanding impressive views of the Alps, the complex’s seventh floor G2B (Gateway to Biotech) Faculty Club serves as a communications hub for board members, IZB CEOs as well as the campus’s visiting and resident professors. Designed to ‘intensify dialogue between top researchers’, the Faculty Club has been systematically enhanced with integrated audio visual technology. In designing the system, leading integrator Medienarchitektur Bernd Wahleder turned to HARMAN and an AMX Enovadriven control and distribution solution which is helping to ensure that the club’s AV technology enhances rather than detracts from the communications experience.

Providing the most reliable, end-to-end analogue plus digital audio and video distribution solution, the Enova DVX distributes multiple sources around the G2B facility, without any of the typical problems associated with HDCP authenticated content distribution and switching. AMX exclusive InstaGate Pro technology resolves HDCP limitations while SmartScale ensures that video is perfectly scaled for each connected display, including several large 65” and 46” screens that

sit within this multi-screen, multi-resolution installation. As part of the solution, DXLink technology provides a clean, simple-to-use and quickly deployable method for overcoming the digital signal transport issues around the 170 sq.m facility, with signal feeds sent via Display Port, HDMI or the VGA standard.

Fingertip control of automation functions including AV systems, lighting, blinds and room temperature, ensures that everyone can benefit from the IZB’s technological investment

A high-specification surround sound system has been integrated throughout the building, with custom made speaker modules and specialist lighting designed specifically to accommodate the unique curve of the ceilings. A state-of-the-art digital signal processor ensures perfect balancing of all speakers while precision control of technological and lighting elements in each of the separate zones is delivered centrally by the AMX system. The innovative AMX iPad Application transforms the club’s tablet into a fully functional wireless touch panel for controlling the system platform. Connecting as a native AMX device to the Enova DVX master, this award-winning Application provides real-time, touch control of automation functions including AV systems, lighting, blinds and room temperature, as fast as a regular panel; ensuring that everyone can benefit from the IZB’s technological investment.
