BLUSH CRUSH The Chanel Autumn 2010 collection pays special tribute to the iconic Joues Contraste blush, with three new luminous shades: Rose Temptation, Pink Explosion, and Plum Attraction, £29 each. “To make the face stand out from the neck, the trick is to sweep a little blush over the tip of the chin,” says Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel makeup. “I combine the three Joues Contraste shades of the new autumn makeup collection to obtain a result that pairs a natural glow with a structuring effect.”

Luxurious, sultry and glamorously muted, catwalk look Cashmink is fresh, sexy and easy to wear. “It’s early 90s Kate Moss, all about fresh skin and a reddish brown, gorgeous eye,” says MAC makeup artist Diane Kendal, who created the look for models at Alexander Wang’s AW10 show. “For me, the idea of really just enhancing individual natural beauty is a strong, modern look. It’s about enhancing features without it ever looking heavy. Fresh beautiful skin is always key here, and while the effect is super natural, it takes a lot of layering to get there. It’s about picking the most neutral tones that you M.A.C Cosmetics don’t actually see to sculpt the face - a slight contour in the crease, filling in the brows very subtly, a touch of highlight on the inner corner of the lash line. All these tricks are what bring out your features without seeming like you’re wearing much makeup.” To re-create this look Kendal suggests prepping the skin with MAC Studio Moisture Fix, £19.50. “It gives the most brilliant skin texture that’s the canvas for foundation.” Then, where necessary, she uses MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer, £12.50, and keeps foundation and powder as light as possible. For Cashmink eyes, Kendal likes to blend together MAC Cream Colour Base, £13, in Midtone Sepia with a shade of deep brown, and wash it all around the eyelid and deep under the eye for a ‘beautifully stained’ look. Then, she works a little Studio Finish Skin Corrector in Terracotta into the crease of the lids and lower lash line, and breaks up the texture of the eye makeup by applying a layer of MAC Gloss Texture or Lip Conditioner, from £9.50. To finish off the look, and toughen it up a bit, Kendal uses black eyeliner to very finely line the upper lash line and outer corners, leaving lips natural and bare. 00
