Beauty Bliss The latest in wedding day beauty to help you look and feel extra gorgeous for the special event
Skin Reddy? Red, inflamed skin is the last thing a bride needs on her big day, so avoid irritation and calm the dreaded redness with our expert advice. Why do I go red? “Inflammation is a normal process –it’s a mechanism the body uses to defend against real dangers or harm, and restores health,” believes Dr Andrew Weil, who has devoted more than 30 years to developing, practising and teaching others about the principles of Integrative Medicine. “Problems can arise though, if the inflammatory response occurs in areas where it’s not needed, or when the process persists long after any healing is over and done with.” “Flare-ups and red flushes, caused by inflammation or blood vessels sitting at the surface of the skin, can be triggered suddenly by many variables, including emotions, food and alcohol, climate or hormonal changes,” add skincare experts at Clinique. “Known for its red and blotchy appearance, skin redness is one of the more embarrassing and uncomfortable beauty concerns that can be difficult to both treat and camouflage.” How can I calm redness? “My new Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Advanced Face Serum, £41, for Origins, works to deliver more potent anti-irritants to the root cause of premature aging and skin irritation, using a unique blend of plant and mushroom extracts,” says Dr Weil. “Providing instant relief for sensitive, red or reactive skin, the serum has even calmed and reduced facial redness in women who are medically diagnosed with Rosacea.”
What can I use to cover redness? “Clinique’s New Redness Solutions Foundation SPF 15 with Probiotic Technology, £20, and the Redness Solutions Corrector, £15, are both perfect for all skin types suffering from mild to moderate redness,” say experts at Clinique. “Containing neutralising pearls that have a yellow-green undertone to instantly camouflage redness, products in the Redness Solutions range can leave skin looking calmer, more even and less blotchy.”

Cappuccino
Brow
Blonde or brunette, the new Sisley eyebrow pencil in Cappuccino, £29, is just the right shade of brown to fill in those eyebrow gaps, thicken overplucked spots, and enhance the shape of your brows. “The main reason I love this pencil is that the texture looks incredibly natural and realistic,” says celebrity make-up artist Aimee Adams. “There’s nothing worse than brows that look artificially drawn on!” Sisley’s new brow pencil comes to the rescue.
Sublime Skin
First, there was the Chanel Sublimage Regenerating Cream, £220, with its revolutionary skin smoothing properties sourced from Madagascan plants. Now, there’s the fabulous Chanel Sublimage Essential Revitalizing Concentrate, £290, formulated using a precious elixir from the golden flower of the Himalayas. Dubbed the ‘youth enhancer’ the concentrate boosts cellular activity, helping mature skin reconstruct itself and eliminate toxins. Used together, the Sublimage duo aims to re-hydrate, boost radiance, firm the skin and smooth away wrinkles - a youth enhancing dream team.
Showcased on the autumn/winter runways at Bulmarine, Chloé and Emilio Pucci, the MAC Cosmetics Voile Veil look is fresh and romantic, yet sexily seductive. “Voile Veil is that late 1950s, early 60s girl, who’s looking sexy, is a bit minxy, a little foxy, with a Brigitte Bardot lip and a beautifully smoked feline eye,” says Mac make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, who created the look at Bulmarine’s autumn/winter 2010 catwalk show. “It’s make-up that is super blended and totally without lines.” SKIN Blend MAC Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation, £25, and Mineralize Skinfinish, £19.50, over the centre of the face. Then, use Matte Bronze Bronzing Powder, £16.50, to sculpt and contour the face, by dusting over the hollows of your cheeks to highlight cheekbones. EYES Thinly line the eyelid right to the corners, staying close the lashline, with MAC’s Smoulder Eye Khol pencil, £12.50, before taking the liner below the bottom lashes slightly more thickly. Smudge a little Fluidline gel liner in Dipdown brown, £12.50, over the pencil for a sultry, smoky feel, before blending eyeshadows in Typographic grey and Corduroy brown, £11 each, over the lid. Mixing the two eye powders, take the colour right to the edges of your socket, blending thoroughly for that matte, beautifully ‘blown out’ effect. Coat top and bottom lashes in Bad Bad Black Opulash Mascara, £12.50, and add a few MAC 30 Lash false eyelashes, £8.50, on the outer corners of your eyes for an exaggerated feline look. LIPS For a nude base, blend a little concealer into your lips starting from the centre, then line them in MAC Oak Lip Pencil, £10, and add a slick of ProLongwear Lipcreme in the creamy mauve Till Tomorrow shade, £14.50, for a long-lasting romantic pout.
