Rhiwbina, to get the low down on how to create your own wedding rings.
First you need to decide on the colour metal - it should ideally match the engagement ring. Then, you need to choose the shape of the ring to ensure your engagement ring and wedding band fit together. We ask customers if they want to dress it up with any diamonds - some do, some don’t. Normally we can do it within 2 weeks but sometimes, obviously if it’s more tricky, then it can take 3.

Platinum bands, because with the cost of gold going up there’s not much difference in price now, and we’ve also started working with palladium, which is fast becoming popular as it’s cheaper then platinum yet looks similar and won’t discolour like white gold can.
Have you noticed any diamond trends? The rounded brilliant cut diamond is probably the most popular because it’s traditional, but people are often going for the more modern squared princess cut stones too. Generally though, more people are having diamonds, and especially men. Squared off bands in platinum, with a few diamonds are very popular with men at the moment.
Any expert advice? The engagement ring does the talking - it’s your main ring and where you’ve got the biggest stone, so the wedding ring should just complement it. A lot of people try to cut back on the rings too, because they worry about the rest of the wedding costs - but the rings are the only part of the wedding day that lives on! Everything else goes, the flowers, the food, but you’ve still got the ring on your hand everyday for the rest of your life, so to cut back on them really doesn’t make sense.
