It’s hard to imagine life without interactive media. In today’s society, the use of interactive media is second nature. It has changed the way we communicate, socialise, relax and exchange information. Interactive media has become one of the most powerful tools of this century. Almost everyone you know will be a consumer of interactive media products. The creators of media products think about the market for their work and who the consumers for their products are. All interactive media is made with a consumer in mind.You will investigate existing interactive media products and consider who they are made for to help develop your own interactive media product. THE ASSIGNMENT As you have nearly completed the course you will want to start thinking about starting a portfolio of your work to show off your skills and what you can offer a new course, or employer. For this project you need to start thinking of yourself as an emerging graphic designer and photographer. This assingment asks you to take on the role of a freelance interactive designer where you will produce an interactive portfolio of your own work. You will research, plan and develop your own interactive media portfolio to help advertise you and your work as a young creative person.
Hopwood Hall College Level 2 Extended Certificate in Art and Design (Visual Communication) Arts & Performing Arts TASKS Research Your Interactive Media Products (2A P1, M1, D1) You need to identify and research at least 2 different types of portfolios and look at them on different platforms e.g: computer websites, mobile websites e.g smartphones/tablets. • You will need to document your research by taking printscreens, photographs and collecting images and reviews of the portfolios with annotations explaining why they are effective. • You will want to think about how interactive they are and what their target audience is (age, gender, demographic and lifestyle). • You will also need to ask other people’s opinions of the products and compare your results with the rest of the class. Plan Your Interactive Menu (2B, P2, M2, D2) Develop and design ideas. You will need to produce the following: • Brainstorms and moodboards of your initial design ideas • Collect all of the work that you want to display in your portfolio - will you need to photograph or scan anything to make it all digital. Make sure all of your work is in 1 folder where you can easily access it. • How do you want to display your work and group it e.g black and white and colour, or by hand drawn and digital? This will help you with portfolio page content. • Create a layout sketch/diagram of how your portfolio will operate. Where will everything be displayed, how will you navigate through? Don’t forget how to go to the home page. • Asset list, what images/galleries, text, buttons, animations etc will you need on each page to see and navigate? • Text scripts e.g about yourself and your work with font choice. Create each asset for your portfolio Construct your portfolio pages when all your assets are complete Add the animations and the navigation around your portfolio Test the menu for errors and fix any issues that you find
You need to show how you are working, that is is safe and that you are sticking to a schedule by completing the work on time according to the deadline date. You will need to complete your log sheet as evidence for this. Evalution of Interactive Menu (2D, P4, M4, D4) • Write a final evaluation reflecting on the production process and your final product. • Ask 2 people to complete peer feedback sheets on your interactive portfolio. You will need to respond to any errors that they might find and suggestions for improvement that they make. • Export the portfolio online in a browser as a SWF file

This includes: - A Word/Powerpoint/Illustrator sketchbook with all planning, log of production and evaluation - All drawings and storyboards if hand drawn need to be scanned or photographed to go into your digital document - A working link and SWF file of your interactive portfolio that works in a browser window.
