AIM/PURPOSE The aim of this assignment is to produce your live action video trailer that you planned and developed in the previous assignment. You will practically implement filming and editing skills, exploring technical and artistic skills throughout the production and post-production process. THE ASSIGNMENT In this assignment you will take on the role of the the film production crew and an editor. You will be working in your groups to film your live action video trailer, then taking the footage to edit yourself to complete the final cut. Your brief is: ‘To create a live-action game trailer promoting a 2D game, this needs to be either Space Invaders, Pac Man or Break Out. This will be shown as a theatre screening, so needs to be no shorter than 1 minute and no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds long.’ Each edited version of the trailer will use the same footage from the group, but may look different from one edit to another depending on the individual editing techniques used. You need to think of how you will sell your game through the trailer. You will need to document your processes at each stage to demonstrate the creative and technical decisions you make as a group, then by yourself to create the final trailer and what you have learned along the way.
