Harvard Park Day Nursery LTD.
Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol We would like to start by officially welcoming Natasha to our Harvard Park Team. She will be our new practitioner in Freedom Zone and we are very happy to have her on board. April is always a quiet month so there are not very many reminders: •
We will be sending out an email with regards to the changes to the restrictions and COVID-19 so please keep an eye out for this. At this time, we are still accepting children from the front door for Freedom Zone, inside the Lobby for the Baby Studio and from the back gate for Small Steps. Thank you for co-operating and understanding.
•
We would like to say a big thank you to all of those parent’s who share observations, pictures and video’s with us on a regular basis - via the EyLog. They help us to link off steps in your child’s development and are also a lovely point for the children to look at and talk about.
•
We would like to remind you that we will be Closed on Friday 15th and Monday 18th April for the Easter Bank Holiday. We would also like to apologise for the electrical fault we experienced on Friday 25th March - please check your emails in response to this mishap.
Health and Safety Notices and reminders: Birthday Celebrations and Party Bags It is lovely that you want to celebrate your child’s birthday with their friends at the nursery. If you would like to provide something for the children to take home, may we please discourage goody bags and ask you to provide maybe a book, fruit bags or raisins, or a colouring book. Small Parts are a health risk even for the children who are in Freedom Zone.
Clothing and the weather Please check the weather before you leave the house and dress your child accordingly. Our garden remains in the shade until around 3:00pm and remains quite chilly for most of the day. Unless the sun is blazing and is going to be all day - please do not put your children in shorts and summer dresses just yet. Warm, thick coats are still advised as the warm weather has not yet arrived. Children in Freedom Zone must take all pushchairs home - buggies cannot be left for children over 2 and a half years old. We encourage the use of scooters for this room.

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Amanda, Mary, Afsha and Gurpreet: Focus: Personal Social and Emotional Development (PSED) Firstly we would like to start by welcoming Theodore and Jakob into our room! This month we will be focusing on PSED and helping our new babies to settle into our room. We will be having lots of 1 to 1 with key worker activities and for our older children we will be supporting them in building friendships with other children through group activities including meal times, song times and rolling balls to each other. All of these will give them the foundations such as eye contact for building relationships with both children and adults. Sadly we are not seeing enough of you interacting and sharing things on our EyLog app. If you do not know how to do this please let us know and we can support you. As part of the nurseries parents in partnership it is important for you to share as much as we do with you. Pictures and video’s of your child learning at home can help us mark off milestones in the Development Matters document. Reminders:
Please keep your babies nails as short as possible . If you struggle to clip them, try when they are fresh out of the bath or while they are sleeping. Please make sure that your child’s outfit is weather appropriate (including coats) and that their spare changes of clothes in their bags also reflect the weather.
Target @ home : If you have not sent us family photo’s for albums or our family display board please do so and email them on the EyLog app via an observation or to info@harvardparkdaynursery.co.uk
Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Martina, Amy, Harriet, Elvia and Sonia: Focus: Physical Development. Our theme will be Mini-Beast and growing! Firstly we would like to welcome Aarya and Liyana who will be joining us this month. We will be running an Easter project: We are setting you and your child the challenge of creating something Easter orientated. This could be an Easter Bonnet, decorated egg or simply a A4 decorated picture of an Easter egg, chick or bunny. All entries should be submitted before Wednesday 20th April - so you could create it over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. In Small Steps we will begin to look at minibeasts and exploring their different habitats using messy play. We will be making the most of the nicer weather (hopefully) and taking trips to the local pet shop and regular walks. We will also be having mini beasts hunt in our outside area as well as creative activities surrounding the topic. We will also be doing lots of Easter Craft and activities too to support the children’s learning and understanding of this celebration. Reminders:
Sun Cream and Sun Hats: Where possible, please apply sun cream before coming to the nursery if you are part time. If you are full time, please provide us with a bottle of sun-cream so we can top it up when the weather gets nice. We will label it with your child’s name so there is no confusion as to whose bottle is whose.
Please provide enough spare clothes and please dress your child in clothes that you do not mind getting messy: We cannot stress enough that children will get messy while at nursery and if they do not wish to wear aprons we cannot force them and exclude them from messy activities, we can only encourage. Please do not dress your child in their most expensive and prettiest outfits!
Please be dress appropriately fore the weather—it is not yet summer so please do not send children in in shots and summer dresses.
Sadly we are not seeing enough of you interacting and sharing things on our EyLog app. If you do not know how to do this please let us know and we can support you. As part of the nurseries parents in partnership it is important for you to share as much as we do with you.

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sherry, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati , Katie, Hannah, Natasha and Danielle: Focus: Easter and Mark Making! As we welcome in the month of March, we would like to start by welcoming Damian and Lara to our room. We would also like to officially welcome Natasha who will been introducing herself to parents at pick up and drop off times! We would like to say a sad goodbye to Shaanvi and Theo who will be leaving us at during this month - we wish them and their family the best of luck for the future! Easter project: We are setting you and your child the challenge of creating something Easter orientated. This could be an Easter Bonnet, decorated egg, Easter scene or simply a A4 decorated picture of an Easter egg, chick or bunny. All entries should be submitted before Wednesday 20th April - so you could create it over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. This month we are focusing on Easter and the stories surrounding Easter for the first 2 weeks of April. For the last 2 weeks we will then turn our attention onto Mark Making. The reason we have chosen mark making this month is to help the children develop their fine motor skills which later supports letter formation and creates the foundation for letter writing in later life. It happens in many forms from writing shopping lists to labelling art work so we will be encouraging all children to explore mark making in their own way and encourage you to do the same at home. Reminders:
We are re-setting our next lot of 6 week targets for your children and summarising their achievements too. So please look out for those on the EyLog and interact with them by liking or commenting. Please also look out for your next set of Homework too - thank you to those parents who have been uploading regularly - you can see the difference it is making! If you want to have a catch up with your child’s keyworker regarding their development or you are in need of some support at home - please book an appointment to speak to them when it suits both us and yourselves.
Picking up at 1:00pm: we are having lots of parents arriving later than this time. You will be charged after this point as we start to go over ratio where children are coming in and no-one has gone home. If you want feedback please be here before 12:50 pm as at 1:00pm we need to be in the room with the children so will not be able to feedback to you.
Water bottles: Please feel free to provide a water bottle for your child to encourage them to drink water throughout the day. We do have times where they have water such as meal times and small water breaks but water bottles may encourage them to freely drink more.
Sun-cream: Where possible, please apply sun cream before coming to the nursery if you are part time. If you are full time, please provide us with a bottle of sun-cream so we can top it up when the weather gets nice. We will label it with your child’s name so there is no confusion as to whose bottle is whose.
Please do not send in ANY toys from home as we are not responsible for looking after them. Children should be encouraged to give it back to you when they arrive at nursery as they will go missing at the setting and we are not responsible for this.
Sadly we are not seeing enough of you interacting and sharing things on our EyLog app. If you do not know how to do this please let us know and we can support you.
