Notes from the management team: Nicki, Tracey and our deputy manager Carol After Boris’ announcements at the end of February, we are well aware that schools will be returning. This may mean that if you have not been attending with us but are wishing to return - YOU MUST contact us before this happens. If your child has been absent for a pro-longed period of time, they made need to be re-introduced to the setting, staff and routine slowly. Please contact us if this applies to you and you are looking to come back during the month of March. As per the guidelines, we will be following the routine we have set in place until we as a nursery feel comfortable enough to change these procedures. We would like to say a big thank you to all of you for being so co-operative and understanding during this time. We are working in partnership with each other and are doing a great job! If there is anything you want to talk about such as help with a home routine, ideas for your children activity wise or even some advice or support with filling in forms as such, do not hesitate to ask us and we will help and support you the best that we can. Brighter days are coming, lighter evenings are starting to appear, the sun is shining on a weekend and we can see more positivity coming - you are doing a great job, keep it up! We would like to say a big congratulations to Amy (from Small Steps) and her partner on the birth of their baby boy, they are already home and settling into parenthood very well! They’ve named him Reggie and we cannot wait to meet him! All of us at Harvard Park send our love and best wishes to you both. Lastly, we would like to say happy mothers day to all of the strong females we have in our lives. If children are eating on the go, please inform a practitioner what they are eating and we will handle the situation accordingly. We are a strictly NO NUTS setting which means children can not be eating nuts or bring nut products into the setting under any circumstances.

We don’t have spares on site so please make sure you write your child’s name inside the hat and each glove to prevent them from being misplaced! Children MUST be dressed in trousers and jumpers with t-shirts/vests underneath. We are keeping the doors open to keep a constant flow of clean air through the room to reduce the level of germs within the building. This means no summer dresses or skirts with tights!

Dates for you diary and reminders: • Thursday 4th March - World Book Day: Encourage your child to dress up as their favourite book character, if they do not want to dress up - don’t force them. Sometimes the simplest costume is the most effective, use what you have at home to create something new! A yellow t-shirt and red trousers could represent Winnie the Pooh or a character t-shirt will make a child feel included too. •

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings - Simran, Mary, Amanda and Martina Focus: Communication and Language It’s World Book day on Thursday the 4th, babies can come dressed up for the day and we will be exploring this event through our story box’s and looking through our favourite books at nursery! This month we will be doing lot’s of small groups activities to encourage the babies language development. This will include the knock knock box - a box of everyday objects which children can take out an object and are encouraged to label it; our sound box which is similar to the above but involves different sounds instead and we will be introducing new songs into our song bags! These are things you could also do at home as children love a surprise and it’s a nice simple activity. Reminders: Please keep you child’s nails short - check them and where possible, clip them as we have a lot of children scratching themselves because their nails are too long.

Please make sure you child’s nursery bag is packed with a good amount of spares - around 4 to 5 changes of clothes will do as children can have accidents such as leaking nappies, getting messy at food times and of course, teething and milk dribble. Target @ home : Send some pictures or video’s of you and your child enjoying books and stories at home. It could be part of your bedtime routine too!

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies - Qani, Paulina, Gurpreet Sherry and Elvia Focus: Communication and Language - Songs and Rhymes Firstly, We would like to welcome Zara, Keith, Korou and Kiara to our Small Steps room from the Baby Studio! We would like to say goodbye to Tahaan, Aahan and Sapphire who are moving into Small Steps!

This month will be focusing on learning a few new songs to help develop our communication and language. The children in our room love to sing so we will be doing lots of focus times around singing, dancing and making music. Developing children’s independence skills and helping them find a voice is key for personal development as well. If there is a song your child loves to sing at home, see if you can video them and share it with us via the EyLog! Events: On Thursday the 4th we will be focusing on books and world book day - please encourage you child to dress as their favourite book character. And for Sunday 14th we would like to wish you all a happy mothers day - we will be sending a little gift home too! Reminders: Our bell is fully working now- so please press it when picking up and dropping off, thank you. Task @ home: Make a small box with 3 or 4 toys which represent nursery rhymes such as a sheep for ‘baa baa black sheep’, a bus for ‘wheels on the bus’ etc. Allow your child to knock on the box and encourage them to say “knock knock what's in the box?” and encourage them to take out a toy. Whichever song they pick, sing together! Post some video’s or photo’s on the EyLog so we can see your progress!

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats - Viviana, Charlotte, Sam, Sonia, Ellie, Nabila, Saptati and Danielle Topic: It’s all about Animals! Firstly we would like to welcome Tahaan, Aahan and Sapphire into our room who have recently moved up from Small Steps! Secondly, if you have applied for reception or nursery school, let us know as we like to begin our school talks and transition talks as early as possible to help support these children with such a big change. For our topic this month we will be investigating everything about Animals. We will be looking at the different categories through the habitats in which they live; starting with farms, then moving onto zoo’s, pet’s, pre-historic and finishing with oceans. Animals and habitats is such a wide subject which covers all areas of development such as communication and language, physical development and creative development too. Through activities such as animal yoga, investigating prints and patterns , creating our own animals and reading a variety of books we aim to provide children with an exciting new interest and for our older children, to learn lots of new facts! To help your child, if you have a pet at home, upload a picture of it to the EyLog so we can use these as a talking point during group times and chatter times. Sadly we only had 2 entries for our space project which is the lowest number we have ever had. We are giving you another 2 weeks to create your space project and upload it to the EyLog. It could be our of junk or it could be out of cushions - you choose but post it on your EyLog so we can show your friends at nursery - we will be checking the 2nd week of March! Events: On Thursday the 4th we will be focusing on books and world book day - please encourage your child to dress as their favourite book character. And for Sunday 14th we would like to wish you all a happy mothers day - we will be sending a little gift home too! Targets to work on @ home Encourage your child to drink water at home - we encourage it here but a lot of children will take the other option on offer. Water is important for brain function so please encourage this as we do here. Labeling language - To encourage language development, please make sure you are labelling items. By this we mean not just handing children a t-shirt, for example “now we put on your red t-shirt” or “can you pass me the blue plate?”. This is something we focus on at nursery and would be very helpful for you to do at home too. Although the weather is cold and a bit dull, make sure you as a family are keeping active. Home yoga, meditation and bend and stretch are all great ways of keeping active. There are a few YouTube channels that can help with this - CosmicKids is one of them! Reminders: •

Spare clothes: Please return them! If you have been sent home with any of our clothes over the past week, could you please return them as we are running EXTREMELY low. Please make sure you are packing spares (3 to 4 pairs) of clothes to prevent us having to use yours. We are still accepting clothes donations so if you are having a clear-out - we would gratefully receive them. Children can feel anxious in these times so ensure you are taking the time to explain what is happening in the world and discuss any up coming changes with your child. They listen to more than you think and maybe holding onto to some feelings they don’t know how to process.

Dates for you diary and reminders: If your child was born between 01/09/17 and 31/08/18 - you can apply for school nursery if you would like to. Applications are now open and must be filled in online - the closing date is 7th May 2021. You are more than welcome to stay with us for another year if school nursery is not right for you. Please follow this link to fill in the application form for school nursery: https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20028/ primary_admissions/74/nursery_admissions •
