Notes from the management team: Welcome to all of our new parents! We would like to start by saying thank you for allowing us to have our inset day on Monday 21st October. It was very productive and essential for us to keep up to date with all the recent and relevant changes within Early Years and to help us continue to provide outstanding care for you and your families. Message about bags:

HEALTH AND SAFTEY NOTICE - NO BUGGIES FOR FZ

Please do not leave food, medication or snacks in your child’s bags. We have noticed children eating from their bags. This is a no no - please remove it!

Message for children and parents in FREEDOM ZONE: As our younger rooms as becoming more full, the lobby is filling up with buggies. Children in Freedom Zone should be walking or scooting to nursery rather than coming in in the buggy. We will be asking you to take the buggies home with you as Freedom Zone children are old enough to be walking or scooting for their physical development.

HEALTH AND SAFTEY NOTICE - No carrier bags on children’s pegs.

We have noticed a few children are bringing in carrier bags as their school bags. Please do not do this as children have free access to their pegs and carrier bags can cause suffocation. A small rucksack is perfect for a spare change of clothes and other little bits your child might need.

Please bring in a WARM jacket or coat for your child- Health and safety As Winter is on its way and the weather is getting colder, please make sure you are providing your children with a warm jacket or coat. Please also dress you child appropriately for the weather i.e. good shoes (no crocs) and long sleeved dresses.

Welcome’s and Goodbye's We would like to welcome Ahyan, Rayhanna, Freddie, Fabian, Pranav, and Chidi to our Harvard Park family. We have a new practitioner who will be starting with us in Small steps. We would like to say goodbye to Anjana and Nivi who will be leaving us this month. We would like to mention that Nabila Ali from Freedom Zone will be going on a sabbatical until April 2020. Gurpreet will be taking over her job role until she returns. We would like to say a massive thank you for you hard work and we wish you all the best on your break.

Dates for you diary and reminders: We would like to inform you about a new service available to you called the Early Help Hub. The Family Information Service is still available to you however the Early Help hub is there to help if you are struggling or need help with something. For example, they provide support and case consultations for individual families, provide information about support and available resources and maintain a directory of online resources. Please read the attached leaflet for more information.

All donation welcome: If you are having a clear out or a winter clean before the Christmas period, we will welcome any donations such as toys, clothing, material or technology before you throw it away. Anything we don’t use we always donate to the charity shop next door.

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies

Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings Focus: Communication and Language We will be using our focus boxes to help develop the babies language and looking at stories to encourage the children to identify objects they recognise. Our babies will be joining in song time and encouraging them to use the different props, actions and some words from the songs. Mission: To look at books with your children at home and post pictures of you and your baby enjoying the book on their EyLog

Topic: Self help skills! Firstly we would like to say goodbye to Anjana who will be leaving us and to Ayden who will be moving up into Freedom Zone. We will miss you both. Our topic will focus on encouraging self help skills and making choices. This is something we work in parentship with you as parents to help your child develop socially, emotionally and physically. It can be as simple as letting your child put on their socks in the morning instead of doing it for them. All of our activities will be based around encouraging children to try before asking for help. Please remember to bring in your child's name card from the board by the lobby. All child need to be encouraged to self-register. Please note our underfloor heating is now ON! You do not need to send your child in in layers. Mission: to attend the Parent in Partnership session which will be confirmed.

Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats Topic: Keeping Safe! Our topic for this month is keeping safe. The children will be looking at safety in the nursery and the outdoor environment. We will do this through a range of activities such as involving the children in our daily health and safety checks, going out on walks to talk about stranger danger and road safety and also looking at firework and fire safety. We will be doing activities based on Remembrance day (11th) and Bonfire night (5th). Reminders: Breakfast finishes @ 9:00am: Please bring your child in before 9:00am if you want them to have breakfast. Any time after this your child will be offered a piece of fruit as snack is conducted at 10:30am. Please be here by 10:00am: Your children are missing out on precious learning time when you bring them in at 11:00 am or later. We encourage you to bring them in at 10:00am the latest. Please don’t forget to share your pictures with us through your EyLog. All about us box: Please provide one item from home to put in our all about us box. This could be anything from a cuddly toy to an action figure. We will be labelling them so we can identify whose is who and using them as talking tools during group times. Book bags: Your keyworker will be doing weekly session with your child which involves book bags. You can purchase book bags from the front office and we will soon be conducting a parent in partnership about the importance of early reading.

Dates for you diary and reminders: Please take your child’s water bottle home - these are not our responsibility to clean and refill at the end of the day, it is yours. For the older children, please encourage them to find their water bottles at home time.

Please remember to bring in hat, gloves and scarf as we have limited spares onsite. Please label these with your child’s name to prevent them for being misplaced.
