Thursday 29th October—Harvard Halloween Party for all rooms (child only event)

Each year we have an annual Halloween party where the children can dress up, take part in lots of different spooky themed activities and are treated to a tea party by our wonderful chef Justyna! Please avoid any costumes with weapons such as swords or masks as these may scare other children. If your child does not want to dress up, please feel free to bring in a costume and we will encourage them to join in here. If you do not wish for your child to join in with any spooky themed activities, please inform us at drop off and we will adapt activities to suit that. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to drop us an email or a phone call and we will be happy to help. Notes from Baby Studio: Ducklings Focus: Personal, Social and Emotional Development We would like to welcome Kiara and Mannat to our Baby Studio! We will be getting to know all of our babies this month and planning activities to increase social skills. This will include lots of group activities using interactive toys, small song groups and knock knock boxes as well as tummy time and walking practise for our non-mobile babies. To ensure our babies get fresh air during their time at nursery, we do go out for daily walks. Please can we remind you to provide thick winter coats and weather appropriate shoes to make sure your child is nice and cosy when we are out and about. Unfortunately we do not hold spare jackets at nursery, if you do not bring one if your child may not be able to go out for a walk.

Mission: Use the EyLog to upload pictures of what your child has been up to during the weekend! It all helps work towards your child’s development here. (if you need help with this or are unsure, Amy is putting together some instructional video’s which should hopefully be out this month. In the mean time, please feel free to ask us at pick up or drop offs).

Notes from Small Steps: Bunnies Topic: Stories and Books, Songs and Rhymes We would like to welcome Alan, Carter, Julia, Leonidas, Sebastian and Freja to our Small Steps room!

For our topic this month, we will be continuing getting to know you as this month we have a lot of children settling in and it is the best opportunity to get to know the children. We will be looking at our family albums so if you haven't already done so please send in family photos to the nursery email so Amy in the office can make this for your child. We will also be introducing the children to sensory investigation which means lots of messy play. Please make sure you are not dressing your child in their best / most expensive clothes for nursery. Accidents do happen, children do get messy and if a child expresses they do not want to wear an apron we cannot exclude them from an activity because of this. We do try to provide products and resources which do not cause stains however some of our providers have changed. Please bear this in mind when dressing your child for nursery. (if you need help with this or are unsure, Amy is putting together some instructional video’s which should hopefully be out this month. Notes from Freedom Zone: Cool Cats Topic: Emergency Services and People who help us Hello and welcome to October. Welcome to all of our new children who joined Freedom Zone this month— we are excited to have you in our room and cannot wait to get stuck in to lots of activities with you! Our topic for this month is all about the emergency services and people who help us. We feel that this topic will be extra important as the frontline workers have done such an amazing job during this pandemic. We will be doing lots of different activities such as role play with costumes, junk modelling emergency transport, talking tables based around the police, fire service and hospital services and much much more! Seasonally, we will also be doing activities related to Autumn and the change in the weather to allow children to explore the different seasons. If you are out and about on the weekends or after your session at nursery, please collect some leaves, twigs conkers or anything you think is to do with Autumn and bring them in to share—Freya and her family and Charlotte and her family have already done this so thank you ! Reminders: 

On your way to nursery, see how many emergency services you can spot and let us know when you get here! If you have any family members who work in emergency services, could you please email photo’s to us so we could use for our talking table.

Clothing and the weather: Please think about what you are dressing your child in before they come to nursery. The temperature is dropping so please make sure a winter coat is provided, children are no longer in sandals and tights should be worn with dresses.

Updated photo’s for family albums: Some of our children are looking like babies or have had new additions to your families. Please can you send some updated family photo’s through on our email address: info@harvardparkdaynursery.co.uk so we are able to updated these on your child’s family albums. If you are a new child or have never sent any in, please do so!

EyLog: Use the EyLog to upload pictures of what your child has been up to during the weekend! It all helps work towards your child’s development here. (if you need help with this or are unsure, Amy is putting together some instructional video’s which should hopefully be out this month. Feedback: If you require feedback, please ensure you are here 10 minutes before 1:00pm pick up and 6:00pm pick up. We still have jobs we are required to complete before we leave so will not be able to give in depth feedback at this time.
