Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: February Newsletter 2016 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie:We would like to start by saying how important it is to label all of your child’s belongings. On a daily basis we have 30 children in our care so the chances of children having the same belongings is very high. We have had quite a few items going missing or going home with the wrong child, if they are labelled with their names this will stop happening. We encourage our children to be independent in putting their things away in their bags or with their coats. We have permanent markers available in the office if you do not have one at home, so please take some time to label all of your child’s belongings. We will be closed on FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY due to our parent and teacher consultations. Please make an appointment with your keyworker as soon as possible to avoid disappointment if you have a specific time in mind. Attention to all of our funded children: We would like to address an issue about nonattendees and absences. If your child is absent for up to 2 weeks and you have failed to make contact with us, you will receive a letter through the post, making you aware that your child’s place has now been lost. Our government funding and Early Years are very strict about this and these are the rules we have been given and must adhere by. It is great that you are all arriving on time for your sessions however, it is still bitterly cold outside and if you child is waiting for over 15 minutes, it is simply too cold for them. Please arrive as close to opening time as possible, thank you. Our timings for open and closing times are as follows AM session PM session 8:00am – 11:45am 12:30 pm – 4:15pm The door will open at 11:40am The door will open at 4:10pm If you are late before the session and have not If you are late before the session and have not rung we will have to turn you away. If you are late rung we will have to turn you away. If you are late after the session, you will be charged. after the session, you will be charged. We regularly have books/products on sale which are supplied by the Book people. To order something, please see Natalie Robinson and pay upfront. They give us around a month to choose what we would like and to pay, so please make sure you are able to pay before you write down your order. We do not always have cash on our premesis. We also have Book bags which are still available to purchase. These are at a price of £5 and are yours to keep forever. Children are able to choose books from our library and take them home to read with you or other family. They have proven to be very effective in all aspects of learning, so we encourage you to purchase one if you haven’t yet. Just a reminder that we will be closed from Monday 15 th February – Friday 19th February. We will re-open as normal on Monday 22nd of February.

News from Natalie, Danielle, Dee, Eva, Parul, Jeanna, Marilyn, Sian, Lacey, Amy and Anusha: Our theme for this month will be Traditional stories. There will be lots of activities based around this topic which will cover all areas of development. Please make sure you are checking our art table for things to take home. We will be looking at lots of stories which will introduce children to unfamiliar stories. We have started to look at the 3 little pigs and Goldilocks and the 3 bears, both of which contain numerals and sizes to help develop mathematical skills. If you have a story form

another culture we would love to hear it, we can find a time for you to come in and read to a group of children. They would really love it. As for activities, we will be encouraging our children to create and form their own stories, introduce storylines into their role play, look at and introduce story structure and as always introduce new and exciting language for them to use in their day to day play. Please ask you key worker for some stickers or if you have some paper at home to note down anything your child says or does at home. For example if they sang a new song or went to their cousins party, pop it down on some paper or stickers and we can put them in your child’s learning journal. Please ensure that you are signing your child in and out of the building, it is an important document that we use in a fire evacuation. Encourage your child to also find the registration card on the board. We use them at snack time and it also helps children to settle in. Please could parents/carers bring in sealed fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up!  Please avoid kiwis and strawberries as we have children who have an allergy to these fruits, thank you! Mission of the month: - Read as much as you can with your child at home. Take some wow stickers from you keyworker and write down what you have read and what you both enjoyed about it for their parent pages. Just a few notes to start off the month of February:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!!  • If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP, thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training. Please remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Dylan, Aasiyah and Holly for this month. We hope you all have lovely days! We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! please refrain from using the staff car park at any time even if the barrier is up as they do have cameras and Harvard park do get into trouble if our parents are seen driving in. Thank you.
