URGENT: Health And Safety issue – Do NOT lift children over the fence
We have had a couple of incidents recently where parents and/or carers have attempted to pick the children up from over the fence. Can we ask you not to do this as it will encourage others to do so and also it is a child protection issue. If you do this and we do not register that your child has left the building, we may start proceedings for a missing child. Kindly wait for a member of staff to come and open the gate for you.
URGENT: Health and Safety issue – Do NOT open the main door
We must ask you not to open the main door to the setting. Please knock or ring the bell and a member of staff will come and open it for you. Please respect this as it is a child protection issue. We need to be aware of who is in the building. We will be reminding you if we see you doing this. Thank you
URGENT: Health and Safety issue – NO Nuts or nut products in Lunch Boxes
We have a child and a member of staff with a severe nut allergy. This is airborne so we are asking you not to provide any form of nuts or nut products in lunch boxes. This is things such as peanut butter in sandwiches, pine nuts in pesto and also in snack bars. There are not exceptions. Also, a small reminder that we are unable to heat up lunches. Please make sure you are providing food which does not need to be heated, thank you.
URGENT: Health and Safety issue – NO carrier bags as school bags
Can we kindly ask that you do not provide your child with a carrier bag as their nursery bag? These can cause suffocation if played with. Children have free access to their pegs and are encouraged to get their belongings throughout the day. A small back pack if more than sufficient. We will be reminding your throughout the month about this.

A message about bottles and Juice
Firstly, please label your bottles. If you need us to use a marker pen to do so, just say but we need your permission to do this. Secondly, we will start to not accept juice in bottles such as fruit shoots and only accept water. There are large amounts of sugar in small bottles of juice, children are offered water and milk during the session which is a much better alternative for their health and their teeth. If your child comes in with a bottle of juice, we will be putting it in the kitchen for your child to have at the end of the day and your child will be encouraged to drink water during the session. (This does not include juice at lunch time). We are thinking of the child’s dental health as well as their physical health.
News from Jeanna, Lacey, Eva, Emma, Megan, Asma, Nida and Shamim: Topic: Emergency Services and People who help us This month’s topic is Emergency Services and People who help us. We have a few children with strong interests in animals so our activities will be planned in stages so that we can make the most out of this topic for our children. Each week we will be looking at the different services who help us such as fire fighters and police. With our older children we will also be looking into the military services and briefly touching on how they help us too. We will be looking at sounds, uniform, equipment and the different scenarios we can be found in such as the doctor’s surgery or the dentist. We will also be using the garden area to explore and support our learning. Please make sure you care checking for art work at home times as we have Chinese New Year and Valentine’s day activities coming up.
Home Mission: If you can, walk around your local area to see if you can spot or hear any vehicles that might help us such as ambulances or police cars. Use your own ict tools or tablets to Google or YouTube real life vehicles in the environment. Also please upload pictures to your child’s EyLog profiles, if you need help with this please ask one of us. Birthdays and Important dates: We would like to wish a happy birthday to Charlotte and Olivia for this month! Megan’s last day with us will be Friday 15th February.
Important reminders: Is your child a whizz with technology? We are currently developing a way for you to
share with us how your child can use technology at home. If you have any pictures of them on an ipad, phone, computer or tablet, please share them with us via the EyLog or emails.
Reading Book Bags for sale: We have a library which we allow you to borrow books from
when you have a reading bag. They are yours to keep and cost £5. You are given full access to the library and also get a reading record where you can record what books you have taken and read as well as how your children reacted to them. Please see a member of staff for more details.
Labelling clothes and belongings: We have marker pens available here for you to label
things with. Please try to label as much as possible especially coats and accessories such as hats and gloves. It will prevent them from going missing or being taken home by someone who has the same set.
If you have any old shirts, please could we have them before you throw them away. We use them in our art areas as aprons and they are very useful. Could we also please ask you to bring back any clothes which you may have gone home with from our spares. We are running a bit low.
Well done to all of you who made rockets for January’s topic of Space. They all look great so well done Thank you to those parents who also joined us for the parents in partnership with Emma!
