Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: January Newsletter 2016 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie:We would like to start by saying Welcome back and hop you all had a lovely festive break! To all of our new parents, welcome to our Harvard Park family! This is our monthly newsletter which you can read 3 ways. We will have a few paper copies avalible in the setting, they will be on our Facebook page and we will also email them to you. The newsletter does contain important information so please read them as often as you can. We would also like to welcome Parul to our team, as she has joined us now. Attention to all of our funded children: We would like to address an issue about nonattendees and absences. If your child is absent for up to 2 weeks and you have failed to make contact with us, you will receive a letter through the post, making you aware that your child’s place has now been lost. Our government funding and Early Years are very strict about this and these are the rules we have been given and must adhere by. Just a reminder about buggies and pushchairs. Where possible, 2 years olds can travel in an umbrella buggy but please fold it and store it in the correct place. If your child is 3 years or older, we will ask you to take the buggy home with you. At this age, they should not really be travelling in the buggy as it will impact on their psychical development. As the weather appears to be getting colder, please dress your child in warm winter clothing with a thick warm coat. We do go outside in all weathers so please bare the in mind when getting dressed in the morning. News from Natalie, Danielle, Dee, Eva, Parul, Jeanna, Marilyn, Sian, Lacey, Amy and Anusha: Our theme for this month will be all Space. We have already begun to look at this and so far have made our own rockets! There will be lots of activities based around this topic which will cover all areas of development. Please make sure you are checking our art table for things to take home. We will be looking at lots of different books such as factual ones and stories, singing songs like 5 little men in a flying saucer and looking at how astronauts walk in space, seeing if we can move them same. Ask you children about what they have learnt during their day at nursery and where possible note it down and bring it in for their folders!

Please send in family photos. Some of our family trees are looking a little bit bare. You can send them via email and we will print them, or bring in the originals and we will scan them and give the originals back to you. It is an important part of their learning so please send us some! If we are not receiving them, we will have to start taking photo’s at pick up or drop off times. Don’t forget to create an all about me box with your child too! They help children whilst settling and are also a good focal point for conversation among children to help them form bonds with others. If you are unsure about what these boxes are, please ask a member of staff. During our sessions, we have lots of focus groups going on; all of which the children are involved in. We have focus groups looking at treasure baskets; these help our children to explore different objects as well as develop language and learn new words. We also have a running group of PALS (Playing and Learning to Socialise) which help our children to learn how to share and form bonds with others. Phonics is also ongoing and helps to develop early writing and reading skills as well as pronunciation and language development. At some point, your child will have the opportunity to join in with these types of activities and there will be evidence of their development in their Learning Journals. If you have any further questions or queries, do not hesitate to ask. We also have Book bags which are still available to purchase. These are at a price of £5 and are yours to keep forever. Children are able to choose books from our library and take them home to read with you or other family. They have proven to be very effective in all aspects of learning, so we encourage you to purchase one if you haven’t yet. Please could parents/carers bring in sealed fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up!  Please avoid kiwis as we have a child who has an allergy, thank you! Mission of the month: - Label all of your child’s belongings. Children often have the same clothes which are the same size, same with bags and coats. Please label them clearly to avoid any confusion or upset. Just a few notes to start off the month of January:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!!  • Please start labelling your child’s clothing especially hats, coats and gloves as we are having trouble with some children wearing the same colour and the same type of coats. If you would like us to do so, simply say. • If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP, thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training. Please remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Eva, Sian, Salman, Dollie Mae, Isam, Jacob, Lilly Rose and Owen for this month. We hope you all have lovely days. We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! please refrain from using the staff car park at any time even if the barrier is up as they do have cameras and Harvard park do get into trouble if our parents are seen driving in.
