News from Baby Studio –Sana, Mary, Gurpreet, Nabila, Marisa and Mandy:
Hi, Welcome to Maher, Kartik and Surya to our room! This Month’s topic we will be developing our ‘physical development’. We have a very mixed ability baby room with some children walking, others crawling and some which are yet to move from their tummies. Each child will have the opportunity to engage in activities both indoors and outdoors which focus on both their fine and gross motor skills. For the older children, balancing on the wooden blocks in the garden, small running and jumping games and learning how to use the trikes. For our younger and non-mobile babies, tummy time, support walking with walkers, and encouraging self-feeding. We will be doing song times which include both action songs and musical movement for their gross motor skills and for their fine motor skills, lots of mark making and pastry play. We would like to say a massive thank you to those parents who have brought their family photos in; our children love looking at their family albums and puppets! If you have yet to bring/email some in, please be aware that when you pick up we will be taking photos! Just a reminder to bring in enough spare clothes for your child. Sometimes they do have leaky nappies or get extremely messy at meal times and we need clothes to be able to change them into. Where possible, please label cups, bottles or beakers to avoid confusion and please remember to sign your child in and out. Your mission this month is to: - Speak to your keyworker about different physical activities we do here in nursery and what they can do at home! It would be nice if you could write down or photograph what they do and send it in for their learning journals. Hi, this month’s topic is ‘All about me and what I can do’. We will be looking at ourselves and our friends, distinguishing what makes us different from each other and others from around the world. We will look at our families and talk to our friends about who they are. If you have yet to send/email/bring in any family photos please could we have some? We will be taking photo’s at pick up times if you haven’t sent any in, so please be aware of this It is also getting to the time where our older children are getting ready to go to school or finding out where they are going. In our small groups times and focus activities, we will be looking at the different schools and uniforms of schools and what they can do at their new schools to help for a smoother transition. If your child hasn’t yet made an all about me box, please could you do so. We will be using them throughout our sessions to see what different things we like and in some cases what different things we can do. We would like to request that your send or email a picture of your child’s dad, granddad, uncle or special person in their life as we will be making some bits for father’s day. On the 26th of this month, we would like to hold a show and tell. Encourage your child to bring in something that they love or their favourite toy and they can show their friends and teachers. We are looking at new ways to develop self-confidence and we believe this will help.
