Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: June Newsletter 2016 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie:Welcome to June! Just a reminder for Monday 6th June: our stay and play session will be held on this day. You can come in and play for an hour as well as get the chance to look at your child’s learning journals and chat to your key-worker about their development. There will be drinks and nibbles provided and you can meet other parents/carers too. The activities we will provide will be able to give you an insight as to what your child is like at nursery and what their interests are. This day we are closed for our normal sessions. If your child attends the morning session, please attend between 9:00am and 12:00pm. If your child attends the afternoon sessions please attend between 1:00pm and 3:30pm. On Thursday 9th June we have two presentations being given by Amy and Natalie Monica. Amy’s will be about phonics and how you can help your child with this at home. Their morning presentations will be held at 11:00am and the afternoon one will be held at 3:30pm. Natalie’s will be about covering the importance of language rich environments, the types of positive strategies our practitioners use to develop your children’s communication skills and what you could be doing in your home environment to help support them. This will happen straight after Amy’s. If you wish to attend these or have any further questions, please ask Amy or Natalie Monica for more information. If at any point during the term or half terms, you and your child would like to take Bertie (our giant African land snail) home you would be more than welcome. They are very very easy to care for and fascinating to watch. Please let our deputy Natalie know if this is something you would be interested in. Last date for the photo orders will be Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th of June. You must return these with the proofs. Due to a new health and safety policy, if and when you bring a water bottle in, these now need to be washed at home and taken home every night. It is to prevent illnesses and cross infection. We do have a water station which children are able to access at all times, so if they are able to drink out a cup you can always leave the bottle at home. Our fundraising: We would like to say a massive thank you for your support during our fundraising week. Thank you to those who donated cakes too. So far we have raised £150.00 from the sale of the cakes, £285.00 from the sale of the handprints and in total £430! If you have any suggestions as to what this money can be spent on, equipment and resources wise, we would love to hear your suggestions. We still have some handprints left over so please come and see us: Dylan B Karanvir Eliyaz Jaspreet

If your ordered extra copies of the handprints these will be available after the first week we return from half term. Thank you for your patience. Please be aware that Wednesday 13th July will be the last day for our 2 year olds and those of you who are coming back in September. The session will run from 10:00am until 2:00pm. It will be a fun day filled with party games and party food! Encourage them to dress up, our theme this year is Carnival.
News from Natalie, Danielle, Dee, Eva, Parul, Jeanna, Marilyn, Lacey, Amy, Anusha and Mandy: Take the time to label your child’s clothes! We cannot be held responsible if items that are un-named go missing. Children do end up with same clothes, bottles coats etc. And with 70 children on our registers it is hard to remember who has what. Thank you. Our topic for this moth is ‘people who help us’ alongside ‘emergency services’. We will encourage children to engage in activities such as junk modelling and creating their own emergency vehicles, using their imagination to create scenarios- role-playing different occupations and painting portraits of people who help us. We will also be starting our transition talks. This is where we provide books, uniform and photo books of the school around our local area for the children to investigate on a daily basis. We will be discussing where we will be off to in September during group times and possibly visiting schools where possible. Language stickers: Please approach your key worker and ask for some of our stickers so you are able to let us know what you child can say and do at home. This all works to our parents in partnership and also make your child’s folder look full and wonderful. It also helps us get an insight into how well your child takes on the information from the topics we provide, to help us evaluate them and see if they are worth continuing next year. Please could parents/carers bring in sealed fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up! Remember they can be exotic or cultural! Mission of the month: - Where possible, visit your local fire station or police station. Encourage your child to spot emergency vehicles whilst you’re out and about. Just a few notes to start off the month of June: If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on all of our clothes especially underwear. If we are unable to change you child due to lack of clothes or if you have not provided spares, we will have to call you to come and collect them. Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!! Please inform us if your child is going to be absent from nursery due to sickness, time away or having a day off.
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Marilyn, Alyanna, Petra and Meher who are all having this month. We hope you have lovely days. We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! please refrain from using the staff car park at any time even if the barrier is up as they do have cameras and Harvard park do get into trouble if our parents are seen driving in. Thank you. Please remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!!
Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our newsletters on our new site to save our trees!
