News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey and deputy manager, Natalie – Firstly, we would like to say happy mother’s day to all the mums, aunties, grand-mums and special ladies we have in our lives, we hope you have a relaxing day! Secondly, we have some sad news to report. Laura is spreading her wings and furthering her career, thus leaving us on Monday 16 th March. We wish her all the best for her future and hope that she will not forget us and see us soon. On a more positive note, we have 2 new apprentices starting with us this month. We will introduce them as and when. Just a reminder, we are closed from Monday 30th-Friday 10th of April for Easter half term! Thursday 5th March: is world book day! Dress your child up as their favourite book character and bring in a labelled book for your child to share with their friends. It doesn’t have to be expensive and get creative! Friday 13th March: we will be raising money for Comic Relief! A small donation of £2 to help people around the world. We will be having a colourful flour throw-a-thon so please dress you child in OLD RED clothes as they will be getting messy! We would like to thank you for your co-operation at home times when picking up. We are very grateful and keep up the good work! Last reminder, if you were given a report by your key worker and haven’t yet returned it please do so ASAP. Your key worker will photocopy it and hand it back to you, we need to have a copy at the setting.
News from Natalie, Danielle, Seema, Diluni, Rosa, Jeanna, Marilyn, Laura, Erin and Anusha: If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training. Also, we have had a dip in fruit supplies lately, please remember to bring in fruit on your child’s sessions. Just an apple or a banana will do. Our theme for this month is Animals, alongside the book ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. This month there will be a mixture of activities and crafts going on so make sure you collect all their art work! We will have mother’s day activities as well as Easter activities and any other free marking your child wishes to engage in. Our topic of Animals will cover 3 weeks and each week will focus of a subtopic; Zoo’s and Oceans, Pets and Farm. We would love to see any pictures of your child with animals they have seen for their learning journals and to share with their peers. We would like you, as parents, to get involved in their learning journals. Well done if you have and please see your key worker if you haven’t. We have a parent’s page and some of them are looking a bit empty. Your keyworker will provide you with white sticky labels, for you to jot down a few things your have been up to at the weekend, during the week or even in the evenings. This can be as simple as any new words your child presents to you or something that they have never done before.
Mission of the month: - Let’s get reading! Try to read to your child once a day if possible and write down any new language they present to you on a scrap piece of paper or sticky labels and give them to you keyworker you can also watch and listen to audio/visual books on Youtube Just a few notes to start off the month of February:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!! • Labelling your child’s clothing especially hats coats and gloves as we are having trouble with some children wearing the same colour and the same type of coats. If you would like us to do say simply say. • Some parents have requested that they collect their children at 3.30 due to horrid weather if you would like this option please let the staff know and we will have a group of children in the office room ready and waiting to go home – the other children will stay in the big room tidying up and having stories or songs. Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to preschool! Less buggies is better for us as we have lack of storage as you can see. To avoid upset or confusion everything should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also remember once you collect your child from their groups they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Natalie and Natalie from our staff and a happy birthday to Devmith, Naomi, Natalia, Ashanti, Josephine, Javon, Tara, and Austin. We hope you have a lovely birthday! Please could parents/ carers bring in fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up! please avoid Kiwi’s as we have a child who has an allergy, Thank You.
We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP/THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery and we should pop up! We regularly update this with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer.
