Harvard Park Day NurseryFeltham: May Newsletter 2015. News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey –

Firstly, we would like to wish Tracey, Gemma, Pauline and Kulwinder a happy birthday for this month, we hope you have lovely days. Hopefully by now you should have heard about which school’s some of our children will be off to in September. If you are waiting on hearing for a nursery place, you will hear at some point this month. Please could you inform us ASAP, as we need to get things rolling and ready to go for June. If your child is staying with us for another year, please also let us know. We have recently had 2 children shut their fingers in the front door whilst going out with their parents. This door is very sharp and dangerous; on both incidents the children’s fingers were very squashed but were very lucky not to lose their fingers. This is a security door which is necessary for us to keep your children safe and cannot be changed. Parents/Carers, you need to be aware of where your child’s hands are when they are at the door. DO NOT let the open the door or drag their hands along the glass. Simply hold their hands when leaving the setting 

News from Deputy Carol- Please DO NOT let children or lift children to let themselves out of the building. We are aiming to keep our children safe and often teach them not to open doors, push buttons or open gates. By you allowing your child to open security doors, you are putting your child at risk as they could run out when the door is open. Please remember that once you are in the building, you child/ren are your responsibility.

News from Baby Studio –Sana, Mary, Gurpreet, Nabila, Marisa and Mandy:

Hi, Welcome to Akai to Baby Studio and a sad goodbye to Karen, Rosalie and Dorcas who have moved or will be moving into Small Steps. We would also like to say goodbye to Sophia as she is moving house and will be leaving us during this month. We wish them all the best  This Month’s topic we will be all about me! We will be doing different activities all connecting to our theme in some way. Hand and feet printing will be taking place alongside using mirrors to explore our faces and find our different body parts. Our family albums and puppets will be out or our friends to look at and we will be encouraging our parents to stay and play for a little bit at pick up times. Please can we remind you all to bring in spare clothes and family pictures for your child and please remember to sign your child in and out. Your mission this month is to: - Encourage your child to find their body parts through song or at dressing times using names to label them. For example you arm, you leg and now you feet. Dates and notes: - We would like to wish a Happy 1st Birthday to Vihaan on the 21st of this month.

beast junk modelling, bottle top bugs and trips to the pet shop to buy some creepy crawlies; this will help develop the children vocabulary and understanding of different colours, sounds, sizes, shapes and numbers. The children will also have an opportunity to go on a bug hunt to the park and outside in the garden to search for different bugs! Now the warmer weather is appearing, please ensure that your child has their own sun hat and sun cream with their names clearly displayed. Please keep an eye out for any high temperature and red spots with white heads, we do have chicken pox going around at the moment so please be aware. We will be going on lots more trips while the weather is good! Below are the times we leave: - 9:45 am-10:00am for the morning trip - 2:00-2:15pm for the afternoon trip If you would like you child to attend these trips, please ensure that they are here before these times. They do miss out on new learning if they are missing these trips as it often lasts for 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes. It’s key for their physical development as well as their health.

Your mission this month is to: -

Develop your child’s understanding of bugs; explain they are small and harmless to ensure that they do not have irrational fears of insects. - Have a look around you garden or local area to see what you can find? Maybe take a picture and send it to us! - Talk about different colours, sizes shapes sounds and numbers to help extended you child’s vocabulary.

Dates and notes: We would like to say happy birthday to Karen who is turning 2 on the 28 th of this month!

News from –Viviana, Gemma, Pauline, Kulwinder, Sherry, Qani, Chelsea, Vaida and Myra: Hello, first we would like to welcome Koshika, Wally and Isabella into our room as well as officially welcome Vaida and Myra as our new practitioners! This month’s topic is mini beasts. We will be looking at all the different species of mini beasts in our different environments, what they eat and where they live. Our children will also be looking at the differences in sizes, shapes and colours alongside how many legs they have, whether they have wings or if they can fly. This will develop your child’s understanding of the world they live in and hopefully spark an interest that may not have been there before. Just a reminder to not let your child bring toys to nursery, as a lot of children have lost them at nursery lately and are going home very upset. (Only bring when it is a show and tell day) Now the summertime is slowly approaching us, can we please ask you to provide your child with a sun hat clearly labelled with their name and a small bottle of sun cream also labelled. We do spend a lot of time outside in the garden as well as on trips.

Your mission this month is to: - To talk to your child about mini-beasts and explore your local area or garden to see what you can find. Take a picture and send it in for their journals!

Dates and notes: -We would like to say a Happy 3rd birthday to Aanya for the 22nd of this month and happy 4th birthday to Munroe for the 1st of May. We would also like to wish Tracey, Gemma, Pauline and Kulwinder and very happy birthday for this month.
