Harvard Park Day Nursery Feltham May Newsletter 2014. News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey –
We are sad to say another goodbye to a member of staff this month, as Megan will be leaving us on the 2nd May. We wish her all the best for the future. We would also like to wish Tracey a happy birthday for the 2nd May and congratulate her on her 1 st wedding anniversary this month. Important notice and a health and safety notice: Please do not let your children press the buttons to get out of the building these are for parents only! Children are unaware of safety boundaries that surround this and this can cause them harm. We also want you to be aware of the front door. Do not let your children run towards the front door! Some children are unaware that if this door shuts on them it is going to hurt! It is a safety door. We would like you to be aware that we will be having our professional photographer come in a couple of days this month. For Baby Studio and Small Steps, Karen will be in on Friday 23rd May (am and pm). For Freedom Zone, she will be in on Thursday 22nd May (am and pm). We will be having a large nursery shot on Monday 2nd June. There will be notices around the nursery so please be vigilant and aware.
News from Deputy Carol- Don’t forget to let us know if your child is staying with us
for another year or is heading off to nursery school. Can we please ask parents to make sure that their contact details are all correct including phone numbers, email addresses and home addresses? There are a few occasions where we have been unable to contact parents due to wrong contact details. Thank You.
News from Baby Studio –Sana, Mary, Gurpreet, Diluni, Megan, Nabila and Chelsea (who will also be covering in other rooms):
We would like to start by saying a sad goodbye to Kai who is moving up to Small Steps; we hope you have lots of fun! We would also like to welcome Karen into our room. This month will be a mixture of topics and we will be looking at the age and stage of our children. We will be looking at ‘mini-beasts’ and working on their physical development. For our elder children, we will be looking at mini-beasts, counting their legs to develop their mathematical knowledge, looking and exploring in our garden and local Park for mini-beasts and activities such as painting, spaghetti play and creative activities to develop our creative thinking. For our younger’s ones, we will work on their physical development , walking with support, tummy time, crawling and soft play to help them towards their first steps or continue to develop their strength and confidence in walking and moving. Just a reminder to parents to please bring in/ email family pictures for our family tree’s in our learning journals as well as their puppets. We would also like a new born picture of your child for our Special delivery board if you haven’t already done so. Please remember to label all bottles and clothing to avoid mix ups.

News from Bunnies –Gemma, Chelsea, Hannah, Alia and Ambreen: We would like to welcome Kai into our room as he is moving up during the month of May. We would also like to say that our topic for this month is ’Shark in the Park’, a book that we have been reading. We will be looking at sharks, where they live and what they eat. We will being doing activities that surround the book such as reading it at group times, drawing scenes from the book like the shark in the pond and Timothy, and fishing for sharks in the water tray. All these activities will help to develop your child’s communication skills alongside their understanding of the world and their creative thinking.
Your mission this month is to: - Sign your child in and out every day! Dates and notes: We would like to wish a happy 3rd birthday to Catlyyn for the 9th. News from –Amy and Holly, Viviana, Pauline and Danielle, Kulwinder, Sonia and Sam: Hello everyone! This month’s topic is space. The children are very excited about the prospect of learning about this! They will be learning about rockets, astronauts, the planets within our solar system and even exploring the concept of Aliens. The children will have the opportunity to engage and take part in activities such as alien making, planet mobiles and astronaut bowling! So get involved and discuss the topic of space at home. We will also be having sports week where your child will have the opportunity to participate in a range of sports such as football, cricket, basketball, dance and running. So please make sure your child is dressed appropriately everyday for nursery. Every Friday is DVD day, and our DVD collection is running a little thin. If your child has a DVD they would like to bring in to watch with their friends, then they are more than welcome just make sure it is clearly labelled. Also please make sure it is rated ‘U’ Your mission this month is to: - Encourage your child to remember their sun hats (preferably with a protector attached). We are going out for regular walks and the weather is getting warmer. It needs to have your child’s name clearly labelled also.
