Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: November Newsletter 2015 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie – Hope everyone had a lovely half term. We would like to start by saying Welcome back! To all of our new parents, welcome to our Harvard Park family! Apologies for this month’s lateness so we shall update you on what has already happened. Diwali was 11 th of this month for which lots of children and our staff dressed up to celebrate. We also held a minutes silence to remember those who have fallen in war. We have already started talking about our topic for the month which is keeping safe. We have looked at fireworks and how to stay safe around those and we are starting to look at road safety, using the zebra crossing in the car park. We would also like to say a special thank you to Gurwin’s mum who made us a dessert for Diwali! It was delicious thank you We are still selling book bags for £5, yours to keep. They will contain a book that your child has chosen from our library and a diary for you to write down comments on how they found the story. It makes it easier to transport art work and in the future their phonic letters. Please see your keyworkers and Natalie if you would like more information on these. Our children who currently have book bags adore them and we have had positive feedback about them. Lastly, we have some sad news. Rosa is going to be leaving us on the 11 th of December. She is returning to her home country to be with her family. We would like to thank her for her hard work over the last few years and we wish her all the best for the future. Reminder: Our photo day will be held on Tuesday 24th November! If this is not your child’s day, please arrange an appointment time with Natalie as this is the only day the photographer is in. She is fab and produces great photos which make ideal Christmas presents and they will be ready in time for Christmas!
News from Natalie, Dee, Eva, Rosa, Jeanna, Marilyn, Sian, Lacey, Amy and Anusha: Our theme for this month will be all about keeping ourselves safe. It is a very wide subject and we will be looking to cover: road safety, being safe at nursery and who keeps us safe. We would like to encourage you to help us with road safety, making sure you cross at crossing, waiting for the green man and showing your child when it is safe to cross; explaining the importance of holding hands or onto the buggy and how to stay safe at home. Within the setting, we will be taking regular trips in our local area to enforce the ‘look left look right’ rule, behaviour at a zebra crossing, the light changing sequences and the difference between the red and green man. We will also be creating our own traffic lights, doing health a safety checks and using the transport in our outside area to recreate road situations. Please make sure you are checking the tables for artwork. We would also like to remind you that the weather is changing and we do go outside in all weathers. It is getting cold so please dress you child appropriately for the weather and start to
provide hat, scarves and gloves (all labelled with their names). Please also label their coats and bags as sometimes children do have the same belongings, to avoid confusion please write their names clearly. Mission of the month: - Use simple language and labelling at home to help develop your child’s language. Play eye spy on the way to nursery to see what your child can idetify! Just a few notes to start off the month of November:• Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!! • If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP, thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training. • If you are getting rid of old toys, books, mobile phones or cameras, newspaper, clothes, material… we would be very grateful to receive them and they will always be used. Our child love to have things that are new to them and it really does help us out a lot. Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to preschool! Less buggies are better for us as we have lack of storage as you can see. To avoid upset or confusion everything should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Anusha, Anohk, Muhammahali and Osman who are all celebrating this month. We hope you have a lovely day! Please could parents/carers bring in fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up! Please avoid kiwis as we have a child who has an allergy, thank you!
We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates - please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP AS THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU. Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our newsletters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery into your search engine (i.e. Google) and we should pop up! We regularly update this page with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print off a few copies for those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our Parents Table.
