Harvard Park Pre School Isleworth: October Newsletter 2015 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Natalie – Hello, as you may have seen we are holding a mum’s coffee morning to raise money for MacMillan Cancer on the Saturday 31st October between 10.00am -2.00pm. It is a great opportunity for you to enjoy a coffee and some lovely cakes (that we ask you to make some to share), as well as meet some other mums that you may not have met. This is a child free morning and will give you some time to relax. Just a reminder about buggies and pushchairs; Where possible, 2 years olds can travel in an umbrella buggy but please fold it and store it in the correct place. If your child is 3 years or older, we will ask you to take the buggy home with you. At this age, they should not really be travelling in the buggy as it will impact on their psychical development. Our timings for open and closing times are as follows AM session PM session 8:00am – 11:45am 12:30 pm – 4:15pm The door will open at 11:40am The door will open at 4:10pm If you have changed your contact details such as mobile numbers or have moved house, please come to the management desk and change them.

News from Natalie, Dee, Eva, Rosa, Jeanna, Marilyn, Sian, Lacey, Amy and Anusha: Hello, Our topic this month will still be sensory investigation and getting to know you, the children will be taking part in focus activities throughout the nursery and exploring the outside area for different materials that have different textures. The children will be doing a lot of messy play activities to again explore the texture of different things from porridge or beans. Getting to know you is all about finding out the children’s interests, likes and dislikes so we are able to plan for them to help them develop. We will also be doing this by doing different focus activities and role groups throughout the nursery, all of which provide new learning. New children will be getting to know their key worker and spending some time together throughout the day so they can form a bond. Please send in family photos. Some of our family trees are looking a little bit bare. You can send them via email and we will print them, or bring in the originals and we will scan them and give the originals back to you. It is an important part of their learning so please send us some! If we are not receiving them, we will have to start taking photo’s at pick up or drop off times. Mission of the month: - Create your all about me boxes and bring them in. If you are unsure about what these are, please ask your keyworker. Just a few notes to start of the month of October:• Please can we ask that you provide fruit which is sealed? For example, a bag of apples or a bag of satsumas. Due to a change in Health and Food Safety regulations, fruit needs

to be sealed, this also means that you can provide a bag for the week. Please avoid bringing in kiwi’s as we have a child who has an allergy to them. Please it is very important that your child does not bring anything containing NUTS into the pre-school setting as we do have children and staff who have a NUT ALLERGY!!!  Please start labelling your child’s clothing especially hats, coats and gloves as we are having trouble with some children wearing the same colour and the same type of coats. If you would like us to do so, simply say. If you have borrowed clothes from the pre-school please could you return them? We are running very low on girls trousers and if we have nothing to change your child into, we will have to ring you to come and pick them up from the setting. Same with wellington boots, if you have borrowed them please return them ASAP, thank you. Please make sure you have as sufficient amount of clothes so that we are able to change your child especially if they are potty training.

2 dates for your diary!!!

• 22nd Halloween Dress Up Party – If it is not your child’s day we will not be able to swap sessions BUT we will be having other celebrations that they will be able to attend. Please may we ask that where possible avoid masks. • 23rd Parent/teacher consultations – we will be closed for the day but you will be asked by your key worker to book appointments to talk about your child and how they are progressing  it is very important to attend these sessions. Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to preschool! Less buggies are better for us as we have lack of storage as you can see. To avoid upset or confusion everything should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!! We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Mollie, Omar, Oscar and Aria for this month. We hope you have a lovely day! If we have missed out anyone who has just started with us we are sorry and hope you have a lovely day too.

We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates - please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP AS THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU. Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our newsletters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery into your search engine (i.e. Google) and we should pop up! We regularly update this page with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print off a few copies for those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our Parents Table.
