Harvard Park Pre-School Isleworth: October Newsletter 2017 News from the Managers, Nicki and Tracey and Deputy Manager, Amy Welcome to Harvard Park! As we wave goodbye to Summer and welcome Autumn, we would like to say hello and welcome to our new families, friends and staff members. We would love to hear from you! If you have any feedback to give us, positive and constructive we would love to hear it. You can either have a chat with Amy or Natalie, or set up a meeting to chat with Nicki and Tracey, our door is always open. We would like to welcome back Amy S from her travels and welcome our new members of staff, Megan, Hina and Angela. We would also like to thank two of our parents, Karla for the donation of resources and to Charley’s mum for some snack and beverages. They all went down a treat so Thanks. Apologies for the lack of newsletter for the month of September, we were welcoming all of our new children and settling them. However, everything you will need to know is in here. Please keep your eyes peeled for notices and reminders on Facebook, email and on our notice board. We have some very important points below, so please read them carefully. Anti-Biotic and Sickness bugs: Our policy states that a child should not re-enter the building after their sickness and/or diarrhoea. They are highly contagious and can be spread to others with ease. If you child has been prescribed anti-biotic for whatever reason, they also should not enter the building until 48 hours after their first dose. We are currently trialling our home time routine. We are trying to work out what fits for both us as a setting and the children. Thank you for your co-operation. We will be closed for half term from Monday 23 rd of October to Friday 27th October. We will be open on Monday 30th October at the normal time. Our Halloween party with be on Tuesday 31 st October. Fancy dress up but please avoid masks. This is a message from Smallberry Green School: DO NOT Park in front of or outside the school gates. You will get in trouble if they see you on their CCTV. Do not park inside the car park either; Harvard Park will get in trouble for this too. If the gate is open, the CCTV is still in operation and they will register your number plate, approaching you if you park in the car park. They have also requested that when pressing the buzzer, please make sure your face is in line with the camera. Sometimes it is hard to identify who is buzzing at the gate. Buggies are NOT to be left in the playground, they must go home with you. Where possible try to leave the buggy at home. It hinders their physical development when travelling in a buggy constantly. Remember once you collect your child from their groups, they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. This door is for the adults only. Fruit donations: Thank you to all of you who are bringing in fruit. Please remember to avoid pineapple as we do have allergies within the setting. Parents in Partnerships: th Thursday 12 October- We have a dentist visiting us to talk about the importance of oral care and hygiene. The morning session will be at 11:00am and the afternoon session will start and 3:30pm. If you can make either it would be great. th Tuesday 7 (11:00am) and Thursday 9th November (3:30pm) – We will be talking about your children’s development, how we can work together to help them achieve their best and we will also be talking about our EY log and tracking system. You will get given notices about these sessions to confirm your attendance.

If you are on Facebook, we do have a Facebook page which gives you updates, notices and also an insight into both our settings and what special activities we get up to. Simply type in Harvard Park Day nursery and Preschool in the search bar and look for our logo. You can also leave a review here too. Please look out for EY log emails and if you have any questions regarding this, please come and see Amy, Natalie or Amy S.

Photographer dates: Tuesday 17th October 2017 If this is not your child’s day, but would like them to have a photo done, please see the desk to arrange an appointment. If you would like your child to wear a special outfit please bring it and we will change them. We wouldn’t want their outfits to get dirty whilst they wait for their turn. They make lovely Christmas gifts and will be ready well in time for Christmas.

News from Natalie, Jeanna, Lacey, Eva, Sue, Megan, Angela and Hina: Topic: Sensory investigation and getting to know you We will be celebrating the festival of Diwali on the 19th of October as well as Halloween on the 31st. There will be lots of activities coming home so please make sure you are picking up any artwork labelled with your child’s name. We will be doing lots of messy play as well as group times to find out what your child likes, dislikes and loves. Please dress them in older clothes as they will get messy. We will be using the next couple of months to get to know the children in our care and helping them to settle.

Home Mission: Complete your all about me boxes with your child and bring them into to share with us. Make sure they are smaller boxes and contain a list of what should be in there. If you have any questions, please speak to your key worker. Tuesday 17th: Photographer will be in! Thursday 19th: Diwali celebrations Tuesday 31st: Halloween party!

Important reminders: - Labels: Please label all bottles, bags, clothes, coats and other accessories you child may bring into the setting. We cannot be held responsible for unlabelled items going missing, children will often have the same belongings so to avoid confusion, please label everything. - Potty Training: If your child is potty training, please dress them in appropriate clothes that are easy to pull up and down. Jeans are a tough thing for a child to get out of as are body grows. Try tracksuit bottoms or leggings to give them a little bit more support. Vests and underwear rather than something with poppers and definitely no dungarees. We speak from experience and it also help your child to feel like they can accomplish potty training without ‘I can’t’ attitudes. - Clear out: If you, family members or friends are ever having a clear out of resources such as newspapers, egg boxes, containers, clothes, material etc. Please consider us before throwing the away. We use lots of second hand things on a daily basis in both of our settings. - Not coming in?: If you are running late, going to be absent from the session due to sickness or are going on holiday, please inform us. We plan things such as outings around how many children are in on that day. If we are waiting for you and you are not coming in, other children miss out. - Weather: Due to a change in weather please remember to dress your child appropriately for

the weather as well as bringing in a thick winter coat, hat, gloves and scarf. These needs to be labelled with your child’s name so they do not go missing or get mixed up with our spares. We do go outside in all weather and we occasionally go for a trip, therefore your child needs to feel as warm as possible.
