STRATHMORE SUMMER INTENSIVE For High School Musicians Exploring a Career in Performance Monday–Friday, July 13–17, 2015, 9:30am–4pm Apply now for a select spot in the inaugural class of Strathmore’s Summer Intensive—part of our Institute for Artistic and Professional Development. This program is designed to provide in-depth experience to outstanding high school instrumentalists as they consider a performing arts career.

Based on Strathmore’s prestigious Artist in Residence program for professional musicians, the week will include opportunities for cross-genre collaborations, professional development seminars, mentoring from the professional musicians of our Artist in Residence program, a visit to a studio to record a demo, plus a final performance at Strathmore’s new music club, AMP!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: • Seminars on social media marketing, getting the gig, music video production, and recording advice • Experience in a studio, where you will learn best practices and get a chance to record • Collaboration with other high school artists on a professional career track • Opportunities to interact with and learn from professional musicians • A chance to perform on stage at AMP, Strathmore’s new club venue

WHO SHOULD APPLY? Excellent high school instrumental musicians, entering grade nine through freshman year of college, who are considering a career in the performing arts.

The program is targeted for performers in jazz, rock, indie, pop, and world music. Classical musicians who are willing to improvise, collaborate, and cross genres are encouraged to apply.

HOW TO APPLY: • Applications due by April 1, 2015. Applications must include: >> A video link of you performing solo a piece of your own choice >> A brief bio of your musical experiences >> A paragraph on what you would hope to gain if chosen for the Intensive • You must have at least four years of training on your instrument under the guidance of a teacher • Memorize three pieces of music of varying genres (from rock to classical) that will be sent to you upon acceptance into the program • Please submit application materials via email to intensive@strathmore.org

TUITION OF $425 IS DUE MAY 15. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE, LUNCH IS INCLUDED.
