REST hOME fOR AN ARTiST.
Location_Punta Brava. Havana, Cuba. 2018. Independent work.
This is the first project I did on my own, outside of university projects. It is a rest house for the artist Isaac Delgado, located in Punta Brava, on the outskirts of the city of Havana. A spatial distinction is sought between the private part, the rooms, and the common area, the living and dining room. Thus, the bedrooms are concentrated in a large room, with their own bathrooms, and on a lower level than the rest of the house. While the living room and dining room occupy the centre of the house, and are 20 cm above the private area. In the dining room there is a dry garden and in this area the roof changes to a transparent acrylic material to allow natural light into this space. The kitchen also occupies a prominent space in the house, it is spacious and is connected to both the entrance hall and the terrace. A room with a bathroom that can function independently was designed for the person who is in charge of looking after the house. Especially because it is a house that will not be constantly inhabited by its owners. The building is closely connected to the outdoors, seeking a sensitive transition with the surrounding vegetation. The proposed carpentry is made of wood and the miami windows are very comfortable for a tropical climate, as the light can be regulated without having to interrupt the natural ventilation.
