Zoila Godoy Residence
Perspective
Design of a country estate on a steep-hill plot of land in the mining town of San Juancito, Francisco Morazán, Honduras. The area of the lot was 5,657.814 M!. The client was a middle-aged, single, female physician from a large family to whom she was very close to. Her lot was contiguous to her parents’ and some of her siblings’ homes. * Software used to develop plans and 3-D image renders: AutoCAD and ArchiCAD.
• Although she was close to her
family, she wanted a small, private, country-style, cozy house where she could accommodate her elderly parents whenever they wanted to stay over-night; and a separate guest house/guest cabin for friends or her extended family to stay at when visiting. • Since she had a large family, many friends, and a large lot; she wanted parking spaces for her visitors and her neighboring family’s visitors, or in case of family gatherings. Site Plan
20 | P a g e
• The client’s house requirements were: a master bedroom for herself and a bedroom for her parents, both with private bathrooms; a guest restroom; an open plan kitchen, dining and living rooms; a 2 car garage, and laundry area. • The guest cabin requirements were: an open plan with a kitchenette, a breakfast table and small living room; 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Separate parking spaces for her guests.

• In addition, because of her large family and family events she wanted an area for these events to take place that was separate from her home. She also wanted to take advantage of the lot’s steepness and create nice outdoor terraces. • The client was thinking of her parents and also herself growing old in the house; so she wanted a single floor plan and everything to be wheelchair accessible inside her home and also in the outdoors and the terrace views; ramps and wheel chair areas were considered and designed for this purpose.

Guardado Family Residence • This project was located in Pollytully Bight J.S. Guardiola in Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras. The lot area was 2,116.75 M!. • The house was meant for a middleaged married couple that wanted to live out their retirement in the island and have guestrooms for their 2 married children to visit.
*Software used to develop plans and 3D image renders: AutoCAD and ArchiCAD.
• The lot had no beachfront; it was located on a mountaintop on the island around 20-30 minutes away from the nearest beach. The client bought it because of the great views it had of the ocean and the island landscape to the east.
Site Plan Left Facade
23 | P a g e
• Some characteristics and challenges of this lot were that it was very steep and had an irregular shape. • The top level of the lot had the best view of the island, had the most leveled area and had direct road access, but it was also the narrowest part of the lot. • The lower part of the lot had a secondary road access and was wider, but it was steeper. A little over half way down the steep hill, there is another small, slightly leveled area; but being close to the bottom, this area had no great views.

The client requirements were: • A master bedroom that would be easily accessible to most or all the common areas (since they are getting older). • Big kitchen, a dining room and living room. A laundry area, a study and at least one guest restroom. A garage for at least 3 cars, 2 guest bedrooms with a shared bathroom for their grownup sons. • They also wanted as much open floor and natural sunlight as possible (large windows), while also trying to make interiors cool. 25 | P a g e

It was remodeled to have a master bedroom with private bathroom and walk-in closet, another bedroom with closet with a bathroom that can be used by guests.
