Farragut Housing, Brooklyn NY Design 3 : Urban Qualities & Material (Post-Graduate) 46,500 ft2 September - December,2023
This infill development within the Farragut Housing is defining to urbanity and public realm toward community life and vibrant ways to habitat. The architectural approach to the design was initiated by studying Fractal Geometry of the forms and reiterating a new language to form this Canyon. Redefining the community garden with vertical system and circulation. The culminating point of the various valleys into means of communal spaces and egress system makes the design robust in nature. #prattsoa #fractaldesign #mixed-use_development

The structural system of the building was intended to enhance metal as a material and keep it raw. As a result, the internal spaces are perceived with industrial touch to the building. The overlooking mezzanine deck for the staff was informal and connected with the double height multipurpose service area to achieve volume and functional play within the workshop area.

The Learning Environment is generated through crafting pedagogical landscape within the educational framework. The experience of learning is contextualized through Physical, Psychological and Emotional factors to create successful educational path for students.

Reedhook Historical Framework The architecture in Red Hook and along the Brooklyn waterfront continues to reflect its maritime, industrial and manufacturing history. Maritime uses along the Brooklyn waterfront today include the Red Hook Container Terminal, the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, ferry landings, and the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. Buildings in Red Hook and Industry City are being converted to accommodate alternative industrial uses, start-ups and craft and traditional manufacturing, such as carpenters, food and alcohol manufacturers, design/build shops, glass blowing, and other uses.

Ahmedabad, India On-Going Pricipal Architect May 2019 - present
This private residence is completely designed from inside-out. Therefore, the functional needs and lifestyle patterns are considered to cater the inhabitants. The right hand side 14 feet extended cantilever volume creates the harmony within the facade. Consequently, to create a shaded veranda opening to the garden and children’s play area. Moreover, the skewed compound wall of the plot tweaks the plinth area from one side to accommodate staircase core. #residential #living_pattern #cantilevered_volumes
10. North-West main elevation of the residence.
Ideation The process of harnessing the energy through ‘ Vastu Shahtra ‘ is a paradigm shift in Indian contemporary architecture which converts living pattern of the inhabitants along with the cultural activities as the primary objective. However, the design has been evolved from inside-out to tailor the requirements in order to achieve sacred and private spaces for dwelling.

The built mass is staggered in response to the shape of the plot. However, considering the sun movement and cross ventilation; the place-making of different functions within the house are cited to the inhabitants lifestyle as well as on the principle of ‘Vastu’.
Volumes are tweaked and overhanged as a canopy to accommodate the functional spaces in a home. However, the vertical circulation connects the private and personal area. Moreover, the landscape pockets are introduced within the built area for adding bio-philic character in the interior architecture.
The cantilevered slabs in the facade are connected with dynamic R.C.C column in V-shape with ø=400mm; placed at an angle of 65°. from the ground axis. The projection creates a canopy over the outdoor seating and garden area.

System of Measurements Location Time line
Governors Island, New York September - December,2023
The final output after various iteration and analysis of the existing system of measurement, proposed assembly and movement in architectural archive product is articulated with manipulation of certain scale to hardware pieces and civil components as base platform to bind different materials to make coherent design narrative and physical model out of it. The inspiration to such approach was taken by refering works of Tony Craig, German based artist who often tries to question the notion of material integrity through retrospective methods. #prattsoa #fractaldesign #mixed-use_development
The System of measurements can be represented through analysing architectural scene on Governor’s Island. The documentation of this ancient Victorian house has intricate decomposed details of Storm door and glass framed doors. The field work on the island as shown below, portrays the material order, texture decomposition and ageing. The Fenestration study of the sectional scene depicts the proportion and depth of the choosen architectural vignette.
