Diets are changing at the same time cities are growing. Insects are becoming part of human´s feeding in many cultures due to their protein content comparing to other animals. This insect farm is placed at a parking lot in the south of Madrid. It is part of the stadium Caja Mágica created for the Olympic Games, that it is currently used for tennis matches, being desolated and empty most time of the year. Under this area, a storm tank is located, a large deposit that stores rainwater. This production center proposes an extension of Madrid Río creating an insect farm next to Madrid´s river Manzanares; setting up a closer relationship between citizens and insects, and making the infrastructure located under this place part of the project. Every floor is designed as a horizontal layer keeping the way the river flows in parallel to the site, dominating the ground in an extensive way and creating a park where water becomes the main element.
