Promotion Anthology of Tears

the promoter professor Elizabeta Sheleva read few of them, the space was pleasantly filled with the smell, the taste and the inevitable presence of the onion layers in the poems of Pablo Neruda, Vislava Shimborska, Sylvia Platt, Erica Jong, Stéphane Malarmé, Ronit Bergman… But talking about the onion would be in vain if its taste is not felt. The lovers of poetry then gathered around the table and tried the delicious leek and onion pies made by our famous Ilindenka.

At Kurshumli an under the cult fig tree we attended one quite exceptional promotion. It is not unusual for film festivals to organize activities in the field of publishing but it is almost always about film-related literature, film theory or production. MakeDox made a wonderful step forward by publishing a small book of poems written by world-renowned authors about the onion, the festival’s trademark. Titled “Anthology of Tears”, this book includes a selection of poems made by the professor Ivica Dzeparovski. As
A modest praise
Have you ever met a stranger who was visiting our rather small but magical city and didn’t find it impressive? My experience was always positive and peppered with promises that those strangers will once again come back because this city is unique, fun and hospitable! Well, could you now imagine the reactions of the guests visiting Skopje when MakeDox is happening, the one and only festival of creative documentary film but also of creative and productive friendship? The praises have no end, I can humbly guarantee you that. From the hospitality of the hosts, the film selection, the location and the high quality

workshops to the relaxed atmosphere and delicious food ... But it is better to stop here (so it won’t turn out that we are only boasting, that we’re a self-flattering crew). Most importantly, we all understand that these words of praise are painstakingly earned. Skopje has its own distinctive charm, but if we relied only on its charm, this festival would not have been what it is today. I’ll leave it to you to find out what MakeDox is … Emilija Georgievska

Individual working atmosphere in the third day of the workshop Jasper Osmund. Consultation with the mentor and editing of their projects was narrating the film. All participants worked creatively with layers pictures of their projects, story, dialogue and the performances of the actors, to then “re-imagined” and even rewrite the film in its whole building. Rough cut as art, play with emotion, to the mentor Jasper boost the release of participants from personal limitations, playing with emotions, and by transferring the scene to scene set new aspects that will fix the existing scenes of participants. The synergy and enthusiasm that this group shared felt in the area in DTC, and the responses of participants: “This workshop helped me a to truly recognize my first film and I feel that movie! “- said Ivana, a young director from Serbia. “Workshop on Jasper Osmund gives
you a strong idea how to make a movie” - said Beatrice, journalist who has experience in painting pictures and multimedia exhibitions. “Workshop on Carmen Kobos for production, had a different concept and direction as to how well packed film piece for placing on the market the film industry. Useful workshops, I learnt a lot - said Beatrice. Rough cut as an art, through the workshop of Jasper Osmund proved that you can create sensually provocative montages, to develop a laboratory for film and convey the emotional truth in performance of an actor. Through the workshop for rough cut is create a point of view, a guide to telling the pace of narration and put emphasis on all things that otherwise would not have noticed and create a vital subconscious connection with the viewer of the film

MakeDox and its Guests
This place is disarming. The whole atmosphere, idea, selection of documentary films and the audience are amazing. I wish I could wake up here every day. Kristina Lelovac, actress and assistant at FDU

I really like Kursumli an and the whole idea of the onion as ? central concept for this festival. I especially like the little girl who sings before the screenings, she makes us feel closer to each other. Anna Klara Ahren, leader of the workshop on Human Right Animation for youngsters Awesome! Great people, talks, films. I hope that it will last for many years and I’m truly honored to be part of this story because I am not only a guest, they have also given me homework as a jury member. Vasko Todorov
The place is remarkable. Documentary makers and filmmakers, all gathered in one place! Samir Ljuma, photographer In times of total politicization I think that this festival is really worth it because it makes us find the true values that were lost somewhere along the way. Such an event should be completely supported and visited by the citizenry because people here are opening towards themselves. The discussions under the fig tree are particularly interesting as they offer different perceptions of some of the things that we have forgotten - art and beauty. Pero Stojanovski, former Minister of education
Thank God there’s a kitchen (and we’re in it) because it’s the coldest room in Kurshumli an. The food is like MakeDox – delicious and healthy!
I’ve been wanting to come to Macedonia for many years, and eventually I made it! I only wish I can enjoy this warm-hearted festival, layer by layer, minute by minute in the company of all these lovely people.
