In just one-week Donna Taggart’s Single Jealous of the Angels went viral sending her album straight to No. 1 on the Billboard World Music Catalogue Charts. The Omagh-born viral sensation began singing when she was 22. It started by accident when a friend asked her to sing at a funeral. She has been singing and recording songs ever since. Donna first came to prominence in 2011 when her acclaimed debut album Celtic Lady Vol.1 was picked up by highly respected BBC Radio Ulster presenter Gerry Anderson. A full-throttle war play that revels in the sweat of the battlefield, Coriolanus transports us back to the emergence of the republic of Rome.

The young child prodigy studied at the Juilliard School in New York and later gained the highest Master’s degree at the Hochschule in Munich.

Caius Martius Coriolanus is a fearless soldier but a reluctant leader. His ambitious mother attempts to carve him a path to political power, but he struggles to change his nature and do what is required to achieve greatness. In this new city state struggling to find its feet, where the gap between rich and poor is widening every day, Coriolanus must decide who he really is and where his allegiances lie.

Young-Choon Park tours extensively in Europe, Scandinavia, the United States and South Africa performing at major concert venues .This talented artist has appeared at numerous international music festivals, performing with many leading orchestras, giving her 750th recital in London last year.

Rome Season Director, Angus Jackson, completes the Royal Shakespeare Company’s collection of Shakespeare’s Roman plays with a visceral production which sees Sope Dirisu (One Night in Miami, Donmar Warehouse, 2016) take on the title role.

The South Korean born pianist Young-Choon Park, who gave her first recital at the age of seven, makes a welcome visit to the Theatre at The Mill performing works by Haydn, Beethoven and Chopin.

Thomas Magill lives in Innishfree with his mother. He buys her Jammie Dodgers every day and has an uneasy relationship with the other inhabitants of the town, especially the numerous dogs. It’s now twenty years since the distinctive sound of Tranquility, featuring Phil’s piano and orchestra, first seduced the whole of Ireland with its easy melodic charm, before going on to make believers around the world. Based on Shakespeare’s tale of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo & Juliet is one of the greatest love stories of all time. Against a backdrop of ancient feuds and gang warfare, the ill-fated young couple falls hopelessly in love, but their families are bitter enemies. In order to be together the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything. In Ballet Ireland’s production, Shakespeare’s tragic tale is transported from the streets of medieval Verona into the classrooms of a modern-day high school. It becomes a play within a play. The Chaplain at a school divided by gangs and violence brings a fight to a close. He together with their form teacher attempts to show the futility of such behaviour by introducing the pupils to the play of Romeo & Juliet, with the feuding Montague and Capulet families. Each is assigned a character and the action ensues. Romeo & Juliet promises to delight and will always appeal to a wide-ranging audience regardless of age or background.

Both Sides is an intriguing new play by the writer of The Lantern Man, which visited The Old Courthouse in September 2016. It comprises two interlocking monologues, entitled Me Here, Me and Before Before, inspired by the work of Samuel Beckett and set in Paris and Nice. In the first, a young woman sits in a Paris café watching the life of the street unfold. Every passer-by has a troubling story. She has one too and fears it may soon be revealed. In the second, an attractive older woman props up a bar in Nice. She surveys the other customers, while looking back on an eventful life and a painful personal loss. Stella and Estelle. Who are they? How are they connected? The production features French music, played live on violin and concertina. The production of Both Sides is supported by National Lottery funding through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Small Grants programme.

How to get here The Old Courthouse is located at Market Square in the heart of Antrim town centre. The building is located within a pedestrian priority zone with the main approach on foot along lower High Street or alternatively from the Castle Mall car park near to Castle Way. There are a number of car parking options close by including the Castle Mall car park, on-street parking along High Street (restricted during daytime hours) and a public car park on the Lough Road accessed via Halls Bridge/Sixmilewater boardwalk.

The Department of Finance (DoF) and The Office of Public Works (OPW) are delighted to collaborate with The Ulster University to curate “The Space Between” exhibition. The project involved the two departments working with the graphic design students and staff from the Belfast School of Art who visited the offices of the DoF in Belfast and OPW in Dublin to select artworks. They had some lively discussions which resulted in the final selection. The exhibition and catalogue captures the student’s instinctive reaction to the art pieces.

A professional photographer for over twenty years, who spends most of his working life photographing weddings and portraits, John’s deep passion for getting out into nature and photographing the beautiful coastline, lochs, mountains and woodlands of Ireland and Scotland, in all weathers, is shown vividly in this collection of wild and rugged landscape photographs. He likes to shoot with medium format cameras and lenses to bring out the most incredible detail, a slower way of working that produces fantastic results.

Jordanstown Art Club was established some thirty years ago, and there are currently just over thirty members, comprising keen amateur artists living in and around the Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus area. This will be the club’s first exhibition at Clotworthy House and will comprise a mix of traditional landscapes, seascapes and still life in a variety of mediums; pastels, watercolour, acrylics, pen and wash and mixed media.

Antrim Castle Gardens is a 17th century Anglo Dutch water garden located in Antrim Town. The Gardens were developed around Antrim Castle which was constructed by Sir Hugh Clotworthy and his son Sir John Clotworthy, 1st Viscount Massereene, between 1610 and 1662.

The 10th Viscount Massereene was also responsible for building Clotworthy House as his new coach house, a beautiful Tudoresque building which was later converted into apartments for the family after the devastating fire that destroyed Antrim Castle in 1922.

Sir John Skeffington, 2nd Viscount Massereene, is credited with laying out the Gardens in the late 1600â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, in more or less the form they survive in today. The combination of wilderness areas, avenues of lime trees and the wonderful water features, including long canals and round ponds, were inspired by the French and Anglo Dutch styles of the period. Subsequent generations left their mark in different ways, but it was not until the mid-1800â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, and the 10th Viscount Massereene, that a significant upgrade of the Gardens was carried out adding Victorian features to the existing layout.

After the death of the 12th Viscount Massereene at Clotworthy House in 1956, Antrim Borough Council carried out a phased acquisition of the site between 1963 and 1991. The Council then initiated a comprehensive programme of restoration which finally culminated in the Heritage Lottery funded scheme that brought the Gardens back to their former glory. On completion in 2015 Antrim Castle Gardens were officially reopened by the 14th Viscount Massereene, John Skeffington.

Garden Heritage Exhibition The Garden Heritage Exhibition displays the history of the four century year old Antrim Castle Gardens and the Massereene Family dynasty. Digital Film Archive Antrim Castle Gardens is the setting for one of Northern Ireland Screenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Digital Film Archives. The film archive contains over 70 hours of moving images from Northern Ireland from 1897 to 2000. Items include drama, animation, documentaries and newsreels. It is a fantastic resource for teachers, students, historians and anyone who has an interest in moving images. Room Hire and Events Space There are a number of rooms available for hire in Clotworthy House and also two outdoor areas for external events. For more information please contact the reception team.

Access A car and coach park is provided onsite. Disabled access is available throughout Clotworthy House and flat pathways throughout the grounds make the Gardens accessible. The Friends of Antrim Castle Gardens The Friends are now firmly established as an important partner in regard to horticultural activities in the community gardens. Museum at The Mill & Flax Gallery Mossley Mill has a long history stretching back to the eighteenth century. In c.1750 there was a waterdriven mill that bleached flax. The bleaching mill was later replaced by a flax scutching business and from 1790 cotton printing was carried out. In 1821 the business was bought by Thomas and Edmund Grimshaw. Their father, Nicholas Grimshaw, was one of Ireland’s leading cotton manufacturers.

The late twentieth century saw the mill sold to the Hanson Trust, amalgamated with the Barbour Threads Co., and later sold to the flax spinners, Herdmans. Production at Mossley ceased in 1995. In 1996 Newtownabbey Borough Council bought Mossley and the first phase of development, which included refurbishing and extending the 1879 spinning mill, was officially opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2000. The second phase, completed in 2010, included the construction of Museum at The Mill and Theatre at the Mill.

The Museum Housed within what was originally the wet spinning floor of the mill, the museum tells the story of Mossley Mill and the people who worked there from the 1800’s to the mill’s closure in 1995. The museum conveys a real sense of the people who worked in the mill and their stories and histories. The museum also features the development of the mill in recent years as a civic and cultural centre and important site for natural heritage. Many features, such as the mill pond, have been preserved and enhanced to support the area’s biodiversity. The pond is one of three that used to supply the mill with water. This important wetland habitat is now an ‘urban pond’ filled with freshwater wildlife. Through a range of colourful displays including artefacts, images and archival film, you can explore both the past and present of this unique historical site.

Pogues Entry Historical Cottage, situated in the heart of Antrim town is the childhood home of Dr Alexander Irvine and the historic setting for his most famous story, ‘My Lady of the Chimney Corner’.

served as Chief Morale Officer of the Allies at the Front in the Great War. He also enjoyed the friendship of many contemporaries, including King George V, US President T. Roosevelt, Einstein and W.B. Yeats.

Born on 16 January 1863 Alexander was one of twelve children and ‘My Lady of the Chimney Corner’ is dedicated to his mother Anna, a remarkable woman who brought her family up with the philosophy that ‘love is enough’ despite struggling to survive amidst poverty and deprivation.

He died in Hollywood, California in 1941, and, in 1946, following the end of World War II, his ashes were brought back to Antrim and laid to rest beside his parents in the little graveyard of All Saints Church of Ireland just down the street from Pogues Entry.

‘In the face of direst poverty when food was poor and scanty and our clothes in rags, my mother, in every respect but the material one, was a lady, and that is why I wrote her spiritual biography and called it, with a touch of irony “My Lady of the Chimney Corner” ‘, Dr Alexander Irvine. In his various books, including The Souls of Poor Folk, Love is Enough and The Chimney Corner Re-visited, Dr Irvine gives a remarkable insight into life in Antrim in the post Famine years of the late nineteenth century. In spite of his humble beginnings he left Antrim and travelled far afield to become an influential and reputed man of international acclaim following an extraordinary career as a miner, soldier, actor, author, college professor, preacher and social reformer. In 1903 he graduated in Theology from Yale University and then proceeded to preach as a Minister in New York’s Fifth Avenue Church of the Ascension. At Lloyd George’s personal request he

Known throughout the world as The Chimney Corner, the cottage was first opened to the public in 1934 when local dignitaries declared that ‘this humble dwelling may be kept intact and unspoiled by time or circumstance, to bear silent and eloquent witness to the great love that dwelt there and to the affection and reverence that a son of Antrim had for his mother’. It is now preserved by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council as a heritage site in tribute to Dr. Irvine’s achievements. The mud floored stone cottage is sparsely furnished in the typical fashion of the period and gives a rare insight into how many Irish working class families lived in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Sentry Hill Historic House & Visitor Centre The house and its contents provide a rare insight into life in rural Ulster during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Sentry Hill was the home of the McKinney family, who came to Ireland from Scotland in the early 1700s. Remarkably the contents of the house have survived almost intact. This is largely due to William Fee McKinney, who was born in 1832 and lived at Sentry Hill for most of his life. You can wander down the path through the sheltering trees and step inside the snug old farmhouse. As you cross this threshold you will stand where the past shakes hands with the present. The White House Visitor Centre The White House has nestled on the Northern Shore of Belfast Lough for over 400 years. The building has witnessed many historic scenes from the ships carrying King Williamâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s armies to the Titanic sailing her maiden voyage and the Luftwaffe bombers using Belfast Lough as their gateway into the city of Belfast.

After falling into disrepair in the 1800s the building was later used as a gospel hall until 1997. At this point it was purchased on behalf of Abbey Historical Society by Ulster Garden Villages and in 2000, the White House Preservation Trust was formed to preserve and restore the building. As a result the White House has been transformed into a beautiful and informative visitor centre. Through a range of colourful displays including artefacts, images and interactives, you can now explore both the past and present of this unique historical site. Exhibitions The White House hosts two very different exhibitions: A Tale Of Three Kings and Relive The History. A Tale of Three Kings is an enlightening interactive exhibition that relates the only truly European war ever fought on Irish soil. It features all the key players and major events of this war and looks at the integral role the White House played in this world changing period in European history.

Relive The History tells the rich and colourful story of the White House itself and its various owners from its beginnings 400 years ago.
