Estrenos En El Circuito

Tras la apertura de la decimotercera edición del Circuito, en Finca Cortesín, sede en septiembre de la Solheim Cup 2023, y su paso un año más por Azata, el Andalucía Golf Challenge se dirigió a tierras onubenses para disputarse por primera vez en el magnífico campo de La Monacilla. Es un gran diseño de Jose María Olazábal que sorprendió a los que no lo conocían. Y la verdad es que fueron muchos los que se desplazaron desde la Costa del Sol, Sevilla y centro de España

SEVERAL MAJOR PREMIERES ON ONE OF SPAIN’S TOP CIRCUITS

The Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit, which began its 13th edition in February at Finca Cortesín, continues to make impressive progress, with player participation once again a resounding success this year and many new clubs taking part.

In 2023 the main prize for each of the top five players in the final will be a one-week trip to Mexico’s Riviera Maya, including flights, transfers, all-inclusive accommodation at the five-star Grand Tulum Bahia Principe hotel, with golf at the spectacular PGA Riviera Maya, El Camaleon Mayakoba and Playa Principe courses.

La Monacilla, La Cala, Royal Córdoba and La Garza made their debuts this year on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit

Maya by Bahía Príncipe Circuit is one of the premier and most popular open amateur circuits in Spain, both for the number of tournaments and the quality of its courses, which include Royal Valderrama, Royal Sotogrande, Finca Cortesín and La Reserva.

Organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, the 2023 Circuit is being held between February and September in all of Andalucía’s provinces, with various legs also played at courses in central Spain. The Costa del Sol will host most of the events.

The grand finale of the Circuit, which will decide the five lucky winners of trips to the Mexican Caribbean, will be played on 30 September at Almenara and followed by a gala dinner at the fivestar Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús in Marbella.

The Circuit is sponsored by Air Europa, Costa del Sol Tourism, Benahavís Town Hall, Marbella Town Hall, Bahía Príncipe, Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús and Viviendo del Trading. The main collaborators are D.O. Somontano, Fairway+Blue, IdeaTerrazas, Holiday Golf and Holiday Golf Estates. Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine are the Circuit’s official media outlets.

Debut Courses On The Circuit

After the launch of the 13th edition of the Circuit at Finca Cortesín – the venue in September for this year’s Solheim Cup – and another year at Azata, the Andalucía Golf para participar en ese torneo.

El ganador scratch fue Fernando Alonso Oses, con 35 puntos scratch. En primera categoría se impuso Alberto García del Castillo con 37 puntos stableford, seguido de Elías Plaza López-Berges con 35 y Pablo Cascajo López, también con 35. En segunda categoría el ganador fue Juan Carlos Carrasco Rodriguez, con 39 puntos, seguido por José Manuel Castilla Requena, con 38 y, en tercera posición, Tomás Gómez Fernández, con 37.

Además de los premios a los tres primeros clasificados de cada categoría y al ganador scratch, hubo dos premios especiales a la bola más cercana, el del hoyo 12 fue esponsorizado por Bodega Bernardino, uno de los mejores restaurantes del área, y el premio de una paletilla

El Circuito celebró dos pruebas consecutivas en sendos magníficos campos diseñados por Jose María

Olazábal: La Monacilla y Real Club Sevilla Golf de buen jamón lo logró Juan Cruz Campoy. En el hoyo 10 la bola más cercana la situó Cristina Santos Mozo.

La siguiente cita del Circuito fue casualmente en otro espléndido campo diseñado por Olazábal, esta vez a las afueras de la capital hispalense, el Real Club Sevilla Golf, que volvió a brillar con luz propia y cosechó nuevamente un gran éxito. La convocatoria congregó a 175 jugadores, lo que da idea del interés que despierta tanto el campo de golf dirigido por Gonzalo Goy como el Circuito organizado por la revista Andalucía Golf/España Golf.

El ganador scratch fue Francisco Bolaños, con 38 puntos scratch. En primera categoría se impuso Íñigo Goiría Martínez con 39 puntos stableford, seguido de Daniel Salas García, con 38, y Maximiliaan Verswiver, también con 38. En segunda categoría el ganador fue Jose Manuel Ortiz Durán, con 41 puntos, seguido por Pedro González

Challenge moved to Huelva to be played for the first time at the magnificent La Monacilla course.

La Monacilla is a superb design by José María Olazábal that proved to be a pleasant surprise for those not previously familiar with the course. Many players travelled from the Costa del Sol, Sevilla and central Spain to take part in the tournament.

The scratch winner was Fernando Alonso Oses, with 35 points. In category one, Alberto García del Castillo won with 37 points, followed by Elías Plaza López-Berges (35) and Pablo Cascajo López (also 35).

Olazábal: La Monacilla and Royal Sevilla Golf Club

In category two, the winner was Juan Carlos Carrasco Rodriguez (39 points), second was José Manuel Castilla Requena (38) and third Tomás Gómez Fernández (37).

In addition to prizes for the top three players in each category and the scratch winner, there were also two special prizes for closest to the pin. The prize on the 12th hole was sponsored by Bodega Bernardino, one of the best restaurants in the area, and the prize of a shoulder of Iberian ham was won by Juan Cruz Campoy. Closest to the 10th hole was Cristina Santos Mozo.

The next event was, coincidentally, played at another course designed by José María Olazábal, the superb Royal Sevilla Golf course, which once again shone brightly, was a resounding success and brought together 175 players – highlighting their great enthusiasm for both the golf course managed by Gonzalo Goy and the Circuit organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine.

The scratch winner was Francisco Bolaños, with 38 points.

Además de los premios a los tres primeros clasificados de cada categoría y al ganador scratch, hubo dos premios especiales a la bola más cercana, en el hoyo 3, que ganó José Andrés Torres Cabral, y en el 11, donde se impuso Antonio Infante Villarreal.

Días después, el magnífico Campo América de La Cala Resort, diseñado por el estadounidense Cabell B. Robinson en el bello entorno natural de Mijas, debutaba con gran éxito en el Circuito. El interés despertado entre los jugadores por competir en este campo, uno de los tres de 18 hoyos que tiene el espectacular resort costasoleño, se evidenció en que con una semana de antelación se agotaron las plazas para disputar el torneo.

El ganador scratch fue Jorge Querol González, con 32 puntos scratch. En primera categoría se impuso Ventura Arjona Giménez con 38 puntos stableford, seguido de Alonso Arroyo Benítez, con 36, y Julián de Lago López, también con 36. En segunda categoría el ganador fue Pascal Koller, con 42 puntos, seguido por Cristóbal Flores Infantes,

con 40, y Juan Carlos García Soto, con 39 puntos.

Los premios especiales a la bola más cercana, en los hoyos 11 y 16, fueron ganados respectivamente por Andrés de los Ríos García, y Alonso Arroyo Benítez.

Otro debutante en el Circuito este año es el Real Club de Campo de Córdoba, enclavado en la bella sierra que domina la capital cordobesa, que se estrenaba con notable éxito en el Andalucía Golf Challenge. Un total de 80 jugadores, con salida al tiro, disfrutaron de este bello campo de golf, que destaca por su recorrido en un entorno natural sin interferencia de casas.

El ganador scratch fue Luis Amo Triviño, con 31 puntos scratch. En primera categoría se impuso Luis Cristóbal Valdelomar Escribano con 39 puntos stableford, seguido de Bartolomé Abad Jiménez, con 38, y Victorio Gómez López, con 37. En segunda categoría triunfó Carlos Velásquez Reyes, con 44 puntos, seguido por Jesús Sánchez Onieva, con 41, y Eulogio Paz Tomás, con 40 puntos.

Los premios especiales a la bola más cercana los ganaron Manuel Moreno y Roberto Ramiro.

Y seguimos con los debuts en el Circuito, en esta ocasión de la mano del campo de golf del Parque Deportivo La Garza, en Linares (Jaén), donde se realizaron dos salidas al tiro, en horario de manaña y de tarde.

El ganador scratch fue David Michael Doyle, con 32 puntos scratch. En primera categoría se impuso Antonio Manuel Quesada Ruiz, con 38 puntos stableford, seguido de Yaqub Kahn, también con 38, y José Luis Sánchez Amezcua, con 35. En segunda categoría el ganador fue Andrés Jesús Martínez Rivero, con 42 puntos, seguido por Juan José Ruz Soto, con 38, y Ángel Gabriel Alfaro Piqueras, igualmente con 38 puntos.

El premio especial a la bola más cercana, en el hoyo 18, lo ganó Yaqub Kahn. ■

Rumbo Al Caribe

Los afortunados y merecidos ganadores de los cinco viajes de una semana todo incluido al espectacular Grand Tulum Bahía Príncipe en la Riviera Maya partirán rumbo al Caribe el 28 de octubre. El premio incluye lo siguiente: vuelos desde Málaga a Cancún ida y vuelta, traslados del aeropuerto al hotel y vuelta, 7 noches de alojamiento en régimen de todo incluido en el Grand Tulum Bahía Príncipe ***** y golf en los espectaculares PGA Riviera Maya, El Camaleón Mayakoba y Playa Príncipe, tres de los mejores campos del Caribe.

Route To The Caribbean

The five final winners will travel to the Riviera Maya on 28 October, stay for an all-inclusive week at the five-star hotel Grand Tulum Bahía Príncipe and play golf at three exceptional courses: PGA Riviera Maya, El Camaleón Mayakobaa y Playa Príncipe. The top two finishers in each category and the scratch winner of the final will travel to the Riviera Maya.

Íñigo Goiría Martínez won category one (39 points), followed by Daniel Salas García (38) and Maximiliaan Verswiver (also 38). In category two, the winner was José Manuel Ortiz Durán (41 points), and Pedro González Íñiguez and Rafael Suárez Varela were second and third, respectively (both 40 points).

There were two special prizes for nearest to the pin: on the third, won by José Andrés Torres Cabral; and on the 11th, won by Antonio Infante Villarreal.

Days later, the magnificent América Course at La Cala Resort, designed by American Cabell B. Robinson in the stunning natural countryside of Mijas, made its own highly successful debut on the Circuit.

The huge interest generated among players to compete at this course – one of three 18-hole layouts at the spectacular Costa del Sol resort –was highlighted by the fact that, within just one week’s notice, all places were sold out.

Another successful “debutante” on the Circuit this year is Royal Córdoba Golf Club, nestled in the picturesque mountain range overlooking the capital city. A total of 80 players enjoyed this stunning golf course, which is highlighted by a natural setting unhindered by residential development.

The scratch winner was Luis Amo Triviño (with 31 points). Luis Cristóbal Valdelomar Escribano won category one (39 points), followed by Bartolomé Abad Jiménez (38) and Victorio Gómez López (37). Leading the way in category two was Carlos Velásquez Reyes (44 points), with Jesús Sánchez Onieva (41) and Eulogio Paz Tomás (40) second and third, respectively.

There were also two special prizes for nearest the pin, on the 3rd and 14th, won by Manuel Moreno and Roberto Ramiro.

The 2023 series of debuts continued at the Parque Deportivo La Garza course in Linares (Jáen), starting with morning and afternoon shotgun tee times.
