EL PUNTO NEIGHBORHOOD BEFORE 2012 The Point Neighborhood is the densest neighborhood in the City of Salem. It is located within a couple of blocks from Salem's vibrant downtown and a 1O minute walk from the commuter rail station. Prior to 2012, the neighborhood had been left out of noteworthy investment benefiting the rest of Salem. While $1 billion in investment had transformed downtown Salem into a hip hub of the North Shore, the Point had seen virtually no investment, public or private, to speak of.
