Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura Barcelona Final project — 2018

An aqueduct from I b.C crosses Barcelona from north to south through 15 km. This channel of water, that once was part of the life of the city, is nowadays buried by buildings and streets. The council of Barcelona wants now to unearth it again and return it to citizens. To achieve this aim, they maked a call for us, students from ETSAB, and proposed us to make several projects in the limits/shores of the cannel.

IVANOW

a new place to create and play Taking the NAU IVANOW (constructed in the early 60’s, today used as a cultural center) as the germ of the whole project, I propose an addition volume that follows the rhythm of the pre-existing constructions, building a cultural an sportive equipment for the city. The whole project follows a very strict grill that is only interrupted when it arrives to the diagonal street Gran de la Sagrera. In this point of the project, simplicity disappears and all the exceptions turn into protagonist to give a strong image that makes us recognize the main entrance.

UDP Final project — 2018

The first step was to study Klotz house in Tongoy, by Mathias Klotz. This first step gave the direction to create a museum that explains the recurrent tendency of architecture to rescpect the natural ground. Humans have cultivated this idea since the beginning of architectural theory in the greek temple.

Kissing the earth a new concepf for a museum in Santiago de Chile This basic concept creates a characteristic architecture. Volumes are located in landscape, dominating it, like an alien and giving the sensation of transience. The architecture of the museum is the first “art piece. It is constructed on a plinth that follows the urban grid. It has a prefabricated character, opposite to its surrounding. This architecture is related and separated at the same time, to the city by this plinth.

ARCHMEDIUM Competition — 2017

It is the 21st century. There is a new way of life. We eat outside, study abroad and travel the world. We are nomads and like the change. We live in community and like to interact with others. That’s why in our project we question the limits. We have created a cell that is emptied from the expendable spaces (kitchen, living room, corridor and hall). Bed and WC are the only elements that are being kept inside. Everything else is done outside. We want both the privacy of the cell and the public of the square.

Parasite house this is the new way of living We parasite the building and the city. The building acts as an ecosystem. The rooftop is used to cultivate and the ground floor to cook. We can eat and interact everywhere. It is a collective way of living. We believe in self-management and in ecology. This is not something new, we are going back to our instincts. We believe in the ephemeral, flexible, recyclable and changing. We dry-build. The atrezzo is disassembled as easily as it is assembled. Maybe in the future this building won’t be social housing anymore. It might be Inditex’s.

Favigniana, once jewel of solitude. Favigniana, island of history and tradition. Favignana and its fortress, that has spend years and years breaking, crumbling, disintregating. It is now a puzzle of fragments of what it used to be. It makes sense that it comes back to life as a temple of a new artistic and sensorial experience. It is the Acropolis of the XXI century. The walkway is the architectural promenade that acts as an introspective path and prepares to the arrival at the Fortress. The art is found from the beginning of this sublime experience and reaches its greatest expression at the top of the hill.

Art prision

welcome to the artistic experience of the XXIst century The beauty lies in the duality. The fortress and its history is the solid and dense center, and everything else that revolves around it is ethereal, light and dynamic. Its tuna-fishing past embraces it. Three curtains remind us of the sails that once waved. They organize the space and generate the different atmospheres, activities and sensorial experiences that this artistic temple requires. From the city’s point of view the proWject is the podium that raises the artistic temple. Favigniana, island of nature and culture. Favignana, now jewel of art.

UDP Innovation workshop— 2017

rethinking everyday experiences The aim of this project is to rethink the concept of a bridge. It is proposed that a brigde is something more than going from one point (A) to another (B), a bridge is what happens in the middle (C). An imaginary (not specifically related to architecture) guides the process of creating a project that acts as a manifiesto against the functionallity of common bridge structures. Human body as an object that is transported, everything that moves in our body, organic architecture, scale play and paradox.

ARQxARQ Workshop — 2017

thinking out of the box Even thought the concept of a chair is really basic, it is one of the most rethought by humans. Rethinking it once again and using wood as the main material, we create a simple object without pretentions but full of strenth and opportunities. This piece of furniture, is both, a table and a chair with three different positions. In addition, its simple shapes make it perfect to be used as many other things.

PUC Workshop WAUM — 2016

a manifiesto for public spaces in cities The final project interpretates the charge of transforming an antique channel in Santiago de Chile, as an opportunity to rethink the sense of public space in the city and its relation with citizens. Farther than looking for a final result, the whole work tries to create a graphic manifesto to rethink these peoples spaces. Six themes related to the urban space are raised to create images that merge paradox, fantasy, reality, imagination...
